Techincal note: I know I said on the MFT it is double on Aperture. I had a talking point giving more description what I meant because it is actually double depth of field while keeping the light the same. For example: (Full Frame F2.8) to get the exact same look on an MFT including the Depth of Field you have to shoot on a F1.4 and bring down either your ISO, shutter, or dropping your ND. Basically "double" the F stops but not quite. Basically on an MFT a F1.4 has the depth of field of a full frame 2.8 but the light input of an F1.4 just like full frame. I just cut it out because it kind of is a little confusing but I know it is not technically double the aperture.
I mean, why say it in the first place then? This is a constant problem with everyone talking about micro four thirds is this nonsense about "double the aperture." The better thing to do would've been to either remake the video or properly explain it. Though, I suspect what's actually going on is that you couldn't find a way to explain it properly and did the Linus Tech Tips and other shady route and just reserve your top comment (posted after most of your views come in) for a "correction." But it doesn't make sense ... why have the correction in the first place when you supposedly knew that what you were saying was wrong in the first place? Why say it at all if you knew it wasn't true? Something doesn't add up. 😅
It is easier to have someone understand double the aperture than trying to explain the focal length is double. The average person watching just needs to understand the equivalent of full frame that MFT provides. So if someone has an issue they can get technical but there is no point because the 25mm F1.4 will look like a 50mm F2.8 with the light of an f1.4 with the bokeh of an F2.8 in terms of full frame. But instead of saying something that confusing just simply put double the aperture...@@orangejjay (plus the more "incorrect" info I add here and there the more you will comment) 😉
Good correction. I understand wanting to keep the videos under under 10 minutes, algorithm and what not, but for refrence, if you want to refers to this misunderstanding with lens equivalents you can just say "because even if a mft lens on f/1.4 gets more light the dof is like a ff lens on f/2.8" and leave it at that, rather than creating holes of information for people that are here for research. And even if this turns out as a conversation starter in the comments (like you mentioned), someone who gets faulty information from an educational video probably won't be checking out the rest of your content. That said, this is a very well made video to leave a mistake like that in the final edit, becasue that's what it is.

Did you have an streaking issues on your GH6 I have found from my tests that it has shown up alot more than any other camera I have tested especially in contrast situations windows and when shadows are present. The other thing I noticed there is no 300fps in VFR mode I can get 240fps but no 300fps like alot of reviews have said is possible on the GH6 just wondering if your copy of GH6 could do this? Something on a positive note I found was I believe the GH6 has a secret duel native Iso that is not the dynamic range boost in Vlog, from using it I found in Vlog 250 and 2000 seemed to be super clean but from around 1000 to 1600 and above 4000 were getting a little noisy. In dynamic range boost 2000 of course is the base for that but at I believe 4000 it cleaned up heaps. I can't explain what's going on here but seems to me that the GH6 has a secret weapon of sorts to tackle low light. Did you find this at all?

m43 lenses do NOT double T/F stops. This can easily be seen looking at a luminance trace. User of both cameras, I 100% agree for the color science, even my G9II is not as good for colors and skin tones. The S5II has no soul. The AF of the GH6 is pretty bad though when using Open Gate (pulsing) or frame rates below 48fps (out of focus visible when cropping).
The GH6 definitely seems to be the MOST underrated, MOST mis-timed camera product of the last 10 years. The jump in ability and IG from the GH5 to the GH6 is Large, and the fact that you can get this for under 1400 is absolutely INSANE, in a great way. AF would make it a complete "product" for the average person purchasing and less of a fit for the semi-niche "Video" market. But really, Video people rarely use AF. They like Control. They even use Manual on Sonys. The question is: What could you really add to the GH6? #1 - The 2nd iso circuit for low light #2 - 8k, #3 - Internal Prores RAW... I bet if they had chosen to make "The Creator" with the GH6, which it could have done, people would be praising it. I can't wait until GH6's are $700, I'm picking up MORE of them, LOL Is it a case of "Nobody took the time to engage the Focus limiter" on the GH6, or like 99% of cameras out there, nobody even attempted to really learn the camera. Soooo many people complaining about them, and not a single NARRATIVE to even be SHOT, even exists for these people. The best ones get to the "Family Picnic"... that's about their ACTUAL usage. It was the same with people complaining about the Canon 5d mark ii. Oh it's af sucks... instead of using the ONE focus point that was FLAWLESS... Yielding 90% keepers. If you need AF, get a Native lens and give it a shot. Of course it's NOT going to AF through a speed booster or even a kitchen napkin for that matter, LOL

I have both cameras and I’ll be making a video talking about the 1080 vs using 4K plus some good advantages of the crop 4K with prime lenses. But the S5iiX is really solid! But I also glad I have the GH6 too
@@MatthewDangyou Is the GH6 better for unlimited 4K recording compared to S5XII? Maybe the S5XII could heat up and the GH6 has built in fans. Is the stabilisation better on S5XII?
@gurugamer8632 S5iiX have built in fans too. Neither camera should overheat. Both are great for unlimited recording if you go into an SSD. If you use SD cards S5iiX is better since you can have two SD cards in it versus 1
A few technical notes (sorry): Aperture isn't double on MFT. DoF is double, but that's because of the "crop", not because of aperture differences. Aperture is aperture. The S5ii has also 1.5x depth of field in its APS-C crop. As for wide aspect ratio, do compare them side by side properly. You get more vertical space in 4:3 on MFT. Price: The GH6 has a lot more of those "pro" features (including no crop, which so many people are hysterical about) and costs less. Glass on it costs a lot less.
For sure! That was my mistake because DoF is double but the light is the same. But to get a Full Frame look of 2.8 you need to be at an 1.4 and just drop your ND or ISO. Hence why I said double. Glass is an interesting topic because one of my friends on B&H just bought 2-3 Panasonic Lenses for $250 as a bundle buying the S5iiX basically saving $800-$1,200.
@@MatthewDangyou Well, equivalence is a very explosive topic as Sean from Lumix, Chris&Jordan from PetaPixel now would agree I am sure. Comments look good so far though!
Light density stays the same at equal apertures (T stops rather). Even the DoF stays the same. But because the FoV is half, you calculate equivalents for how it "looks". A 16mm f1.4 will produce the same image, regardless of what sensor is used to pick up the image. Since the MFT sensor has a 2x crop factor, you get the FoV of a 32mm and the DoF of a 16mm f1.4. Since the DoF is directly proportional to the focal ratio, which in this case is around 11.5 (16/1.4), the DoF equivalent for 32mm would be 2.8 (32/11.5)
Haha for sure. There are a decent amount of features I probably missed just for the fact that I don’t use the features myself so can’t talk about them to much
Im very confused why the Lumix S5iiX crops in. Is it the lens? Like when you put a DX lens on a full frame camera? So if I bought a 24mm lens for the Lumix S5iiX it really going to be a 48mm? I have to but a 12mm to match the look of a 24mm now? Help! I not sure I got it.
The S5iiX doesn't have a crop in 24/30fps modes, But it has an APSC crop in 4k 48/60 fps so it is a 1.5x crop in those modes. So if you are shooting on a 24mm in 24/30fps it will be a 24mm but in 48/60fps the 24mm becomes basically a 35mm
@@MatthewDangyou Darn! I shoot in 60P so it looks more life like. Trying to stick to the best image possible. Which I assume woult be it 4k. I wonder why they do that. Why if they do not crop in 30fps than why do they have to in 60fps?
beats me man. I mean just using the 24-70mm lens and you are pretty solid. Like 24=35 35=50 50=70 70=105 if you can memorize that basically is all you need @@prophetseven728
You lost me before 1 min mark. Larger sensor does not mean you're getting more bokeh at all. You're getting the same amout of bokeh you would get with micro four thirds, the difference is focal lenght. Micro four thirds sensor is 75 per cent smaller, meaning you're getting only 25 percent of the image you would get with a full frame camera. You need to find some wider lens or you have to move back by a significant amout to achieve the same results as you would get on a full frame camera. If you used the same lens and moved back to match the focal lenght, the amount of bokeh would stay the same.
Dang you lost me by two sentences🥲 But a 25mm F2 will not look the same as a 25mm F2 on fullframe. A 50mm F2 on full frame will look the same bokeh wise as a 25mm F1 on MFT but the MFT will have twice the amount of light that is being let is. But if you used a F2 25mm (aka a 50mm Fullframe look)on MFT and 50mm F2 on full frame. You will achieve the exact same focal length but you will get the bokeh of an F4 on MFT lens with the light of an F2. And you will achieve a bokeh of an F2 and light of an F2. Thus Bokeh is overall better on fullframe because people regardless will frame up a shot to match focal lengths rather than matching bokeh👏🏻 Nice bow tie though👌🏻
@@MatthewDangyou According to your theory the same lens would produce a different looking bokeh on mft and fullframe lol. Take a full frame prime lens, take an out of focus photo with it. Put the SAME prime LENS on the mft system, take the same out of focus type of photo with the same aperture as you did with the fullframe), tell me exactly what will be the difference in bokeh? Photo will be just a fraction of the full frame, but what happens if we crop the full frame to match the same segment from the mft? We are ignoring ASA (ISO) and shutter speed in this case. The same lens, at the same aperture will produce different bokeh? Lol. I know, I like my bowtie too ;)
If you left the lens and cameras in the same place and used a 25mm look. Yes you are technically correct the 25mm will create the same bokeh. But most people will move the 25mm on the MFT way back to create the exact same framing which then effects the bokeh. Hence why I said you use a 50mm on full frame will equal a 25mm on MFT😂 people match focal lengths to look the exact same way. You left the camera in the exact position ad a fullframe and you put a 50mm lens on this no speedboosting you get a 100mm look. So yes if you crop a fullframe into 100mm then the bokeh would be the same. BUT if you moved the MFT camera back far enough using the exact same focal length to match the framing exactly then the bokeh would be off. At that point you need a f1 to create the F2 bokeh look but it would let the light in as a F1. So matching framing creates less bokeh. Trust😂
Techincal note: I know I said on the MFT it is double on Aperture. I had a talking point giving more description what I meant because it is actually double depth of field while keeping the light the same.

@@MatthewDangyou I am shooting with Lumix GH6 + Sigma 18-35mm with Metabones speed booster. Sick low light up to ISO 10,000 is clean !!
@@MatthewDangyou wow 🤩
I have the GH6. I am shooting weddings, they are like 14 hours. I need total 3 bodies. Shall I get 2 more GH6 bodies or sell my current GH6 body and get 3 x S5 X II? Which 5 lens would you buy for S5X II and GH6?
Oooo I like this! So for GH6 camera (depends if you need autofocus or now)
But some lenses I would get is
Sigma 16mm f1.4
Meike 25mm,35mm,50mmm cine lens T2.2
Then maybe an ultra wide would be nice like lumix 9mm or 12-35mm
For Full Frame:
Sigma or Lumix 24-70mm 2.8
Lumix 70-200mm
Lumix 35mm prime (my personal favorite)
Lumix 50,85mm primes are also super solid!
I have both cameras and I’ll be making a video talking about the 1080 vs using 4K plus some good advantages of the crop 4K with prime lenses. But the S5iiX is really solid! But I also glad I have the GH6 too
@@MatthewDangyou The lens for micro thirds are more compact !!
This is true!
BTW the Gh6 is litti
raly only like 1000$ used, SO much cheaper and 6k 60P 10bit VIDEO??? Honestly its the best camera for 1000$
For sure! This video was made a year ago, so the more up to date video on the GH7 vs S5iiX is out now, and the GH6 VS GH7 is also out on my channel
the difference dont worth changing system so ill stay with mft, waiting for a gh7
Haha though explosive content does get more comments🤔😂
Light density stays the same at equal apertures (T stops rather). Even the DoF stays the same. But because the FoV is half, you calculate equivalents for how it "looks". A 16mm f1.4 will produce the same image, regardless of what sensor is used to pick up the image. Since the MFT sensor has a 2x crop factor, you get the FoV of a 32mm and the DoF of a 16mm f1.4. Since the DoF is directly proportional to the focal ratio, which in this case is around 11.5 (16/1.4), the DoF equivalent for 32mm would be 2.8 (32/11.5)
👍🏻👌🏻
Wich setting for gh6 autofocus when recording for say multi subject like 10 people lined front to back like karate dojo?Thank you
Probably tracking and human or center point and human. That would probably be a hard tricky situation for the GH6 though TBH
I cant find any tracking option for 5,7 k 60 raw hdmi external .Thank You
Don’t forget the S5iiX can live stream. But, I’m sure they can do a firmware update for the GH6 to have that feature too. 😂😂😂
Haha for sure. There are a decent amount of features I probably missed just for the fact that I don’t use the features myself so can’t talk about them to much
@@MatthewDangyou , Panasonic cameras offers the most features for the price.
You got 2 gh6 camera? Why not you give me one 😎
haha it still cost me money to get them! You'll get one some day!
@@MatthewDangyou is the only camera I wish to have right now for my music video production
@@daboproduction4240 One day! Just keep saving and consider buying used! That is what I did!
@@MatthewDangyou yep
@@MatthewDangyou can you do a deep review on the difference between the gh6 and s5iix
Maybe they holding out the 4k 60p for s2h when it comes?
Does lumix send the cameras for free?
Sometimes yes but I bought a bunch too
It's pronounced Boe Kay 😊
A 1.4 lense is a 1.4 lense not a 2.8 a 2.8 lense catches much more light than a 1.4 so dont compare both
On MFT an F1.4 has a 2.8 Bokeh with the light of an F1.4
@@MatthewDangyou if you put a F0,95 on a MFT you get same bokeh than a FF
Not if you put the subject in the same framing.
@@MisterMayhem17 wrong. You mean depth of field i mean light. A 1.4 lense gathers 4 times more light than a 2.8 no matter if its full frame or mft
@@andersistbesser and I didn't mean light. What's framing have to do with light?
You lost me before 1 min mark. Larger sensor does not mean you're getting more bokeh at all. You're getting the same amout of bokeh you would get with micro four thirds, the difference is focal lenght. Micro four thirds sensor is 75 per cent smaller, meaning you're getting only 25 percent of the image you would get with a full frame camera. You need to find some wider lens or you have to move back by a significant amout to achieve the same results as you would get on a full frame camera. If you used the same lens and moved back to match the focal lenght, the amount of bokeh would stay the same.
Dang you lost me by two sentences🥲
But a 25mm F2 will not look the same as a 25mm F2 on fullframe. Thus Bokeh is overall better on fullframe because people regardless will frame up a shot to match focal lengths rather than matching bokeh👏🏻
Nice bow tie though👌🏻
@@MatthewDangyou
According to your theory the same lens would produce a different looking bokeh on mft and fullframe lol.
Trust😂
You have a wife?? U still look like 16 year old kid 😅
Haha been married almost 4 years now
