  • As a child you were probably told not to ride your bike on the railway tracks. Ooops, here's 34 km of just that. We've been riding a few dresine tracks in Norway, but this one definitively stands out with some amazing views and long tunnels, one of which is well over a kilometer long.

What i love about a human powered rail rider is the quiet ! That and if there is a malfunction it's usually easy to fix , imagine if a gas powered cart broke down and you had to push it back ! This is simplicity, your country is beautiful and id one day love to go there to see it snd the people ! What would top it off would be to see Angelina Jordan singing live ! That girl is absolutely amazing and is becoming very well known here in the United States ! Have a great day and go Angelina from Seattle !

6:39 "Traveling further" is kinda understating the magnitude of that endless incline.

Looked wonderful but many people use normal bicycles with outrigger balance wheels and steering guides, they are lighter and more importantly quiet. Never the less if we get back to Europe I'll try and take my wife along. 😎👍

Thanks. There are two tracks in Ålgård (Ålgårdbanen) close to Stavanger. They're not as spectacular as this one, but still enjoyable.

We tried looking into this, but there's surprisingly little information about how they're made. But we'll make a video if we find out, as well as showing how they work. It's actually quite simple: The main wheels ride on the rail with a larger outer diameter than the center so that it doesn't derail. And the other side is simply there for balance, it doesn't grip onto the sides of the rail.

We actually went to the US on a decommissioned line last summer. It's used by the Southern Michigan Railroad as a museum. We didn't ride a draisine, but got a ride in one of their trains. 🙂

Yes, it’s 600 NOK (about 60 USD/EUR) per draisine/bike which has space for two adults and two children.
