It’s played by a more expressive player on this channel.. This player is actually talented, the other milk toast guy should stick to classical-he butchers almost everything he plays.
That is probably down to a few things. Scott is a really good player by what I have seen from his videos. He uses tenor reeds here, not alto which give a more tenor like sound, changing how the Grafton would usually sound with alto reeds. The Grafton has a metal neck and keys, unlike the Vibrato which has a plastic neck and keys.
@nitroandy5960 1.) Tell that to all the girls who tell him he looks like "Orlando Bloom" and "Johnny Depp"... 2.) He doesn't edit the videos... 3.) I'm gonna marry the *ss off him! haha!
and there went my jaw to the floor... I always love listening to you all play and you showcase some of the best examples of what saxophones can be! Also, those JDX pieces are REALLY something else! and with a tenor reed... hmmm, interesting! :D
@Philip Snegirov Your right, I normally play on a Selmer S80 C** alto with Legere Studio Cut 2.5 reeds, so decided to try a tenor version of the reeds, same 2.5 strength. I instantly noticed the sound was fuller and I could easily push it loud and louder than with alto reeds, almost too loud for me. It was a little buzzy so may needed to go up 1/4 strength. Took me a while to control it to play softer, and I found low C and Bb didn't always want to come out compared to using normal alto reeds, but other than that it is worth a try. I may stick to alto reeds in future, but interesting to try.
Never heard of this Sax until today. I sax a post of a repair forum on Facebook. Looked up some knowledge on it (basically sayin it sounded to harsh for an ensemble which I can hear it.) It definitely has it's own sound which tbh isn't bad
A very nice tone this Grafton, you play very nice! I have also a Grafton in mint condition with still all the Original polsters on it. It plays also still good. Its brand new instrument with Original case..
Okay so i was looking into getting a sopranino sax...and i wanted to know what currency is the prices of your saxophones? And would i be able to pay in us dollars?
Hi.. our site is in pounds sterling.... if you're ordering by paypal or credit card they'd convert $ to £ automatically... (re our prices, have a look at the website.. we've got quite a few options)
A Plasticover, so it matches :pIt's not about the finish, the mouthpiece, the ligature, its all about you and what suits you best, try a load out and see what works best.
tricky without actually hearing the problem and checking over the sax.. I'd get a technician or experienced player to check it over for leaks or set up issues…..
It is not really that hard since it is a single reed insturment. But I would not worry if you do not get a nice sound at first. The sax is really fun so just learn the fingerings and just play your favorite songs. That's how I got good at the sax.
Jonah La Margo Clarinet is probably one of the best instruments to swap from as the reed and mouthpiece are almost the same. You can find fingering charts all over the web, so you shouldn't have much of a problem there. Most impotantly, have fun while you learn and play.
Lol how funny, I switched from clarinet to tenor around the same time, and all I have to say is... You wont see me use my clarinet more than once if at all, out of the week if I can use my tenor. XD On top of that Ive been on tenor for almost 5 months now and im two times better on it than on clarinet, which ive been playing for 7 YEARS.
I'm want to have a soprano sax black laquer curved im having hard time to find here at philippines..I'd really want to have one...please give me one...
Hi... Yaangisawa make a black curved soprano and, occassionally, we can get curved Elkharts with a black lacquer. Have a look on our website for the details of these horns.. (email us re the availability of the Elkharts)

I think it could be the Finnish waltz, Metsakukkia (Woodland flowers). It is the closest thing I can find anyway, if not something very close sounding to it.
This has to be one of the best sounding saxes I've ever heard
Pretty amazing as well that this example has all the plastic protectors still intact... Loving it!
Well, not really a trumpet guy... Haha!

Sounds better than the Vibrato Plastic Sax!

I searched it up at the Grafton Saxophone is the most expensive saxophone. To be exact it costs around $150,000
@@ballsy445 expensive due to scarcity of course. its not as if its quality warrants that price. collectors pay for very rare things.

It has a really unique kind of tone to it. It's kind of thicker. I love it!
holy altissimo...

Hey Brian! Nice to see you looking at beautiful saxes

Me too.

Why are you using a tenor reed
xXKappaClausXx it helps give the mid notes a more tenor like sound and IMO i like the sound of it too

Very nice a nice surprise as its the first Grafton i have heard. Nice Job!
The 80's called, they want their Sax back
Shame, I thought the 50's would have called for it back personally ;) :p
Sax .co.uk it just reminded me of one of those retro bars. sort of reminds me of Back To The Future for some reason :P
Sax .co.uk I was wondering, what is a good, not too expensive tenor sax

I just read that the Grafton had a metal neck and that is what it has over (way over) all modern plastic saxes.
This has the best tone I've ever heard in a saxophone
What is the name of the piece he's playing? This is fantastic.
Cool.. do you mind making a gold-white version? blue and black don't really seem too appropriate..
What is name this song?
Aguien me sabria decir como se llama el tema que toca el saxofonista ? Gracias !!!
I'm in love with that sax time to spend some money
What song is this? It sounds great!
Nicely done...😊
Very nice sax
That's some sweet playing.
Wow! I’m really taken away by this horn. @AgentCouch….-I agree totally.
and an FYI: Charlie Parker is playing a Grafton on the "Jazz At Massey Hall" recording.
In my opinion this is my favorite Sax. Question is it available online or only at your store?
Hi... I'm afraid that we don't currently have a grafton for sale, sorry....
I like it good job on it
Nice to see one in such good shape! But I gotta dock you a few points for not playing some Bird on there.

Excelente !!!! Como se llama el tema que esta tocando ? Gracias
Is that a sax you are currently selling or not? And if so...how much ?
Bender Bending Rodriguez no super rare vintage Graffon
Supertramp John Helliwell plays one in My Kind of lady video.. he plays it best
Just wondering how you felt this compared to the vibrato's??
Completely different kettle of fish to be honest, as the Grafton contains a lot of brass as well.
Okay so i was looking into getting a sopranino sax...and i wanted to know what currency is the prices of your saxophones? And would i be able to pay in us dollars?

Just out of curiosity, do you have any Andreas Eastmans?
Preferably a 52nd Street? :D
I'm afraid not, they haven't approached us...
What is that song? I'm sure I've heard it before, either in the Godfather or a Sergio Leone film...
It wasn't a specific piece of music, just a jam, but there's a definite spaghetti western / klezmer-ish feel going on..
Yes man!
Good job mate well done.
For the black lacquer alto sax, what kind of reed would you reccomend
A Plasticover, so it matches :pIt's not about the finish, the mouthpiece, the ligature, its all about you and what suits you best, try a load out and see what works best.
You guys should do a review on the jody jazz norteno and jet mouthpieces for alto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I live in America, can I still pay with American money on the website?
You can, because your bank will convert it to British Sterling.
Can you buy saxophones from America
Awesome, How much do these saxes cost? Where can you purchase them?
Tim Cason they are like 3,500 dollars to buy on ebay
Noooo the Graffon is one of the most collectible vintage saxes
Can’t buy one maybe if really lucky you will come across one they are super rare
Excellent playing. I think the extreme high notes sound a bit stuffy, but overall it's a pretty cool sax.
I was trying to see what the "wee beasty" could do ;)
Sax .co.uk I wish we had those here in the states.
Hey Guys, how can i get music just like this?...i mean just saxophone nothing else.
Thanks in advance.

I got it fixed a while ago but thank u
1st time to heard a grafton and im like wow
nice sax
Is it made out of plastic
It is made from acrylic. It's actually acrylic glass similar to perspex.
Has anyone heard of the brand Lyon and Healy? I have a vintage Soprano Sax made by them from 1922 and would like some info. Thanks.
Nice sound ...
Perdon alguien me puede desir cual es el precio de ese sax
???
Very nice!
Didn't Charlie Parker play one?
Sounds like heart attack by Demi lovatto
Also would it be easy to transition from a bassoon to a sax?
give it a try and see how you get one, after all, the sax is a far better instrument ;)
do it anyway
*cough* bassoon power

can you revisit this and make a full arangement? or at least transcribe it? i play trombone but want to play this.
When did Scott started playing?
When he was 12, he's now 30!
Can u add a link to this vid for this sax
what is it made of
onde fica sua loja ?
What song is that ???!!!!!
Nice. I think this is the Song of the United Front. (at least from the Charlie Haden album, this is what it is called)
No Name like most of our solo vidoes its simply an improvisation- quite possible it came form that Charlie Haden track but, if so, it was subconcious
wow!) New model?
No - its a vintage 1950s horn...
Does anybody know the name of the song or who wrote it?
Scott can't recall if it's something he's heard somewhere, or he just made up on the spot, so, open to discussion!
Actually the beginning is similar to a Gospel hymn in Portuguese
Could it possibly be a slight variation of Metsakukkia, the Finnish waltz? If not its the closest thing I could think off.
I'm switching from clarinet to alto sax any tips? Please respond
