Loved the music that you played in the beginning. And I love what you have to say as well. Your words resonate with me that’s why I appreciate you so much. Happiness, love and peace always.
Your new track is beautiful! I actually teared up listening, because it reminded me of days gone. Being carefree and young. People need this music in these times of uncertainty and insanity. Thank you Dereck for your art!
Was sorry to hear about Doug Ingle. He was one of the main influences that got me wanting to play music myself, not just listen to it. Bought Inna Gadda Da Vida in 1968 when I was about 13 (we're around the same age, Dereck) and later Ball and Heavy. Favorite band in junior high, and first concert I saw was Iron Butterfly in Kansas City in1969 -Ingle and Bushy still in the lineup, with Mike Pinera & "Rhino". I took piano lessons as a kid, but hearing this stuff made me quit, and start messing around on our crappy home organ trying to sound like Doug Ingle, without luck (really wanted a "combo organ" like a Vox, parent's wouldn't go for it). Still play keys as a hobby now, over 55 years later. Love your videos, watch every new one.
Hey Dereck, That is a lovely tune, aptly titled and evocative. How neat catching yourself on TV at just the right moment! Great you were able to imbibe the energy in various ways with Egberto & Nana. Meeting Enrico Rava was like that here. ☺
What a lovely way to start the video. An incredible piece of music. It’s not hyperbole to say my eyes started to well up. Perfect for a Sunday morning. We’re not here forever. We’re wasting time if we’re not being honest to the core. Happy 100th, Marshall Allen.
Hey Dereck, I had just spent an hour covering the news, when that music that opened your video today made me forget it all, made me feel at peace. So sad to hear of DOUG INGLE. A very familiar and much loved voice in the music journey of my youth. Take care Dereck
I am a veteran and feel much the same as you do about Memorial Day. As a 16 year old kid in Louisville KY in 1983 I met Iron Butterfly in the hotel they were staying thru a friend who worked there. I wont get into all the details but they were extremely nice fellas and fully living the Roch and Roll touring life. It made me a life long fan .
Good day Dereck👋🏻I pray all is well w you and your family 🙏🏻...the music you shared is encompassing and peaceful....I just came in because rain has drove me in, ok watching D....been awhile but it’s not on purpose D....I remember that PBS special!!! Is was so very cool!!
Richard Sherman was a film Composer, songwriter and musician, he was most well known for writing songs for Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Not much to be sad about really, he had a more than a full life, he was 95.

RIP Doug Ingle. Ball is my favorite album of theirs.

I bought it aged 13 too, but in 1981. Still love it.

Sweet opening music. What a trip to see yourself unexpectedly on TV.
It was a "whoa" moment.

Ingle is legendary for lovers of psychedelia like us. I had a hand-me-down copy as young as 4 or 5 years old. I’m a lifer 😅
Really nice melody on that track
Great track!
I lied about having a vcr when I was 9, to the neighbor, he caught me in the lie by taking to my father. Felt awful.
Reminds me of all the people in the 1980s who claimed to have seen the Sex Pistols in the 1970s…
Two holidays I’ve always never liked are Memorial Day and Labor Day.
RIP Doug Ingle, I’ve got 3 of their albums...I need to pull em I guess🙏🏻✨🎶☮️n❤️
In Dreama was 12 years ago? I recall you promoting that release. Holy Sh*t.......where has the time gone?
Cheers D. Would you happen to know if the band "Spiritualized" is doing anything new for 2024? Thanks in advance
No.
