love Laurie's big science & Mr. heartbreak. i had the " home of the brave " box never played it though so, punt... Zephyr were a good band though candy's vocals kind of grated on me. good picks. cheers.
Zephyr was one of those bands that slipped by me back in the day, so I don't know a lot about them. I was interested in them mostly because of Bolin's involvement. If I remember right, I found that one at a really cheap price so I picked it up based off of things I had heard in the VC.
I always enjoyed that Al Stewart did so many historical songs. I use to have most of his records now just the two popular ones. He has such a great voice. Nice eclectic mix of music Mike. Glad Suzy gave her input also
I love that "There Is A Season" Byrds box. I saw Pat Travers open for someone in the late '70s or early 80s; we had never heard of him before that show but he blew us away. I'm a big This Mortal Coil fan - I have all their albums on CD. I'd like to have them on vinyl, but I hate to duplicate. Drums and Wires - one of my time-tested records. Lots of great records added to your collection - thanks for showing them Mike!
So while I was on hiatus in the VC, I was still picking up some great records. I probably haven't picked up as many as in past years, but I have been picking up titles that were on my list for a while even though a lot of them might have been a bit more money than what I usually spend per record. I decided this year to buy fewer records but try to pick up titles I really wanted. Of course, when I run into a bargain, I still have a hard time passing it up lol.
Hi Mike! I see Colton’s friend showed up after the 7 minute mark! I didn’t recognize many records in this video, but seeing new to me stuff is often what it’s all about. I do have a copy of that This Mortal Coil album from when it was first released. Really excellent! ✌️
We like to think we are the stars of the show, but it always seems to be the cats that people like to watch for. That This Mortal Coil album is great. I also have the previous one that has "Siren Song" on it which is the song that sold me on that band. I promise my next recent finds video will have more records you'll recognize (and of course, some you might not). I love quite a variety of music and I used to run some retail music stores in the 2000's, so there are a lot of obscure bands that I grew to love from back then.
@@Davidicus-m8c Big Science and Mister Heartbreak are her most popular albums. I also have the United States Live box set and Home of the Brave. They are a bit more experimental
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Yes a lot of great music in this bunch. I've been trying to pick up a lot more punk and grunge but it's usually more expensive. But it's that and experimental music that makes up most of my CDs and digital music and I need more of it in my vinyl collection. Especially stuff on the Constellation label because I always love their packaging.
Zephyr was once again, one of those more obscure bands that I missed back in their day, so I didn't know much about them except for Tommy Bolin's involvement.
Very cool Byrds set. I feel bad for not having any Pat Travers. I don't think I have ever heard anything by him. You know, I have a copy of The Catherine Wheel, but I can't even remember the last time I played it. Mister Heartbreak!! Awesome. I bought that XTC record in 1979! (That makes me feel old). But, it has been through some tough times. I really need a better copy. I also got that VU collection way back when. That makes me sound cooler than I am. Epic finds
@@EmbryonicRobot Yes you are as cool as you know you are. I'm just starting to catch up to your coolness. That's it...it's not about feeling old...it's all about coolness!
Wondering what the heck is "post-rock"? - that's a new one for me and I've been in the music collecting business for multi-decades - rock isn't "post" yet - or ever! R&R/rock will never die! Nice finds, though - the cat's meow! 😻
@@billstill1794 Post rock is an actual category and there are actually a lot of artists that fall under the category. There are several other "post" categories including metal, punk, and etc but it doesn't mean the original category is dead. The category has been around since the 90s and possibly earlier. Try some bands like Godspeed You Black Emperor, Mogwai, Russian Circles, 65daysofstatic among many others. Thank you for watching and I hope you find a post rock band you enjoy.
@@TCatsDeepVinylTraxx Never heard of those groups or that category and I have a HUGE 45 & LP collection. Was in many bands as well. I just don't know that genre at all. I prefer even-strumming rock & R&R bands from 50's - present. No choppy stuff.
@@billstill1794 You gave me an idea for a future video. I'll do one that will discuss what post rock is. It's just one of those things I assumed everyone knew about like psychedelic or progressive rock, but it is a real genre that has existed for quite a while now.
The Byrds box set is interesting in that I have a four CD box that is quite different. I need to get more Al Stewart. I have a double comp album that focuses on his early material. I picked up the debut Zepher album a while back but haven't shown it yet. I only have one Laurie Anderson album but I do quite like it. I like that Social Distortion cover and Drums & Wires is great. Some great pickups.
@@RandyforRoyals There were two 4-disc boxsets from The Byrds. The reason they did that is because one of the sets didn't feature any songs written by one of the members, so they released a different one. I'm not sure which is which though.
