Cortana is the first thing I turned off on Windows and I've never been happier. I would rather spend 5 seconds typing and using my eyes to see the same information, than have MS store my whole life's story. They try to do that anyway without my consent so... Not that much different.

16gb of ram is the absolute MINIMUM of what people should be picking up these days for doing any kind of office work. 32gb is highly recommended for any kind of heavy multitasking. the issue is that applications these days (particularly communications apps that run in the background like teams, discord, outlook, webex, zoom, etc. are pretty big (200-300mb each), and then a web browser can easily eat up 4-6gb on it's own for normal use. plus whatever else you have open (word, excel, powerpoint, acrobat, etc.)

    • @kingzach74
      @kingzach74 9 месяцев назад +3

Just don't get either of them. Microsoft and Apple products are WAY overpriced and always will be. You cannot upgrade them later down the line without sending the device in, and just in general are FAR more expensive to repair or replace down the road than really any other brand.
You can get decent laptops from HP's higher end and Dell's higher end lineups. You can get great Lenovo laptops with fantastic price to performance ratios.
At this point I would actually recommend avoiding the big brands and instead get a laptop from Framework where there is tons of upgrade-ability and modularity. You can buy many different USB-C swappable modules that you can add more storage, or an SD card slot, or get an additional USB-A or USB-C port, or get an HDMI or DisplayPort port.
Microsoft and Apple products feel premium but are definitely not worth the tradeoffs in price. Many laptops from other brands are just as good(if not BETTER) but offer more functionality and ports.

7:30 - It's not about gatekeeping, it's about appropriating stolen art in the learning data, watching a stupid algorithm fuck up the fingers and teeth, and passing it off as your own.
It's also like, you can have actual translators who speak a language translate material for you, or you could have google translate spit out something literally wrong, offensive, and barely comprehensible. You can have humans craft art and deliver voice lines or write wikipedia articles for you, or you could have Google Translate do it for you instead.

Wow, I didn’t realize there was such a praise for the surface go laptop. I bought one on Amazon about two years ago during a sale. I think I paid around $400 for it and it has an i5 that still works great today. Yes the build quality is fantastic. It’s so lightweight and it’s almost perfect but I don’t know if it’s because I bought a refurbished or if it’s just the laptop in general but it has very poor battery life. Maybe it’s because it’s so small and I’m not used to such a small laptop but I absolutely love it. It is a near perfect laptop that holds its value very well.

I’m EXTREMELY sick of all this AI stuff. I don’t search anything that much anymore because I can’t look up one thing without having a thousand websites saying they use AI. One example is I was trying to find a website or software that can separate lyrics from the instrumental. I went through at least 50+ pages (no joke) and gave up because EVERYTHING USED AI! I LITERALLY couldn’t find a SINGLE website that DIDN’T use AI. It’s such a big enough thing that I’m now SEVERELY turned away from it. I’ve had people ask what I think about it and when people ask me I completely ignore the question. I’ve had people tell me I’m rude for not responding (Note: I don’t care) but then I just say it will be a worse situation if I answered the question. And it’s left at that.

AI is a glorified name for expert system, just faster today because of the hardware advance.
But I believe it will further kill creativity. I have found this the hard way. Started drawing in 3D modeller and basically come up with nothing after several hours.
Turned back to my OWN AI, tossed idea in head for a couple of days, than put on paper several variants, to "anchor" them slightly, then drilled down to the good solution.
A friend running CNC machines, writing most complicated programs, said that he often get unbelievable stupid drawings from the engineers, with ZERO actual experience.
I'm still from the generation that has to develop the mantle of the two intersecting cones on paper. This has trained us to "see" the finished project in head.
Computers are faster of course, but what if they slowly kill innovation?? I mean SR71 was designed with SLIDE RULES and maybe some "computer" that would take a year to render a single frame of a CGI movie.

I wish Microsoft would make a version of windows (it could cost $300-$400) that literally had non of the AI/Telemetry features. Call it windows 11 pro Minimum and let it literally just be a desktop a file browser and a version of edge that has just a search bar and the ability to add any extensions I may want without all the outlook/bingchat/ect features. Literally just so it has a browser that lets you choose to use it or go download another browser. There could be options to run the regular 11 features but I would want them to all run in a sandbox. Like the windows store and anything from it like Xbox or any of those kinds of apps I would want in a box separate from the rest of my files so that there is no ability for it to “accidentally” access any data I don’t want it too.

I would let it constantly listen in and I could see it being more useful than Google or Alexa listening in. Honestly I gave up on privacy a long time ago. I sacrificed my soul to the Google Gods. I don't have a Facebook or social media so I do try to limit it. But yeah I wrote off the privacy on the phone a while ago. I don’t care if the potential Windows 12 has the best A.I. in the world, Windows has been a nightmare to use as daily driver for my entire life. The only use I have for windows is school and modding my games, that’s it. Because I rather use my iPad than a PC. And that’s for two specific reasons, the settings is horrible to navigate, nay the whole OS, and bloatware. They add way too much into OS and I don’t feel like updating my system every 5 minutes and refresh my tabs and sign into all my crap again.
Windows 11 is actually better than 10. But to me, 7 is better than 11. Thanks bloatware
