the real story is very different from the story played out on tv. piper never cheated on her husband in real life and her husband was very supportive the whole time. basically they added in a whole bunch of drama to make it more interesting
You can read her story, but the show is completely different from the reality. It's based on her memoir, but it's not a dramatization of the book. I highly doubt they'll simply make the story as it is in real life (mostly cause it would upset a large part of the fandom).
