    $4000 divided by 365 days is about $11/day. I buy at least 2-4 cups a day. I’m married. My wife and I each drink 1-2 cups/day. We live in California (Bay Area) so decent cup costs about on average $8. $8 X 2 Cups/Day = about $6,000/year. Worth it if you live in California and you’re married with kids lol. IM BUYING!

  • @jb4948
    @jb4948 Год назад +171

    $3900 plus tax so say $4000. 18g of coffee @ $15.75/310g per bag is $0.91 per double shot of espresso ground coffee. Average cost of double shot of espresso at a cafe, about $3.50. So we can solve for the payback with the following expression: (4000+0.91x)/x = 3.50 => x = 1544. That's a cost equivalency of 1544 cups of espresso. So, assume that you consume average of one espresso per day, the payback time is 1544/365 or 4 years and 84 days. Consuming 2 espressos per day would cut that in half at 2 years and 42 days. Since the waiting time for an espresso is exactly the same as the labor of the coffee shop, we'll call that a draw! As gorgeous as this machine is, you gotta really love making your own espresso (not to mention have a lot of cash) to justify buying this beauty.

    For some reason I see the LM as not having as much maintenance costs.

    • @JimmyTulip1
      @JimmyTulip1 Месяц назад

      I wouldn't expect much difference. Gaskets need to be changed on all machines once in a while. Descaling is not encouraged by LM, but same with all machines, depending on your water it will be due after 5-10 years. Rotary pump is much more resilient than vibration pump, so here you'll probably save on maintenance compared to the usual pumps. But the only people who really know this are the mechanics who repair both LMs and other brands.

      It may need a minute or so to get back up to temp. It's indicating the heatup by the blinking red light, but it's real quick. I don't even know why people mention this. You won't even notice it in real life, because you can't make like 10 shots in a row without pause. You need to serve the cups, talk to someone, get new cups, steam milk, refill beans etc. In these breaks the machine will easily reheat.

      I owned the Uno PID, but the Duo is basically the same with a separate steam thermo block. The steam power of the DUO (I tested it just recently at the shop) is ridiculous compared to the Micra. Which can actually be ok for a beginner because it gives you more time to steam, but it can't compare. Brewing temp is also much more stable on the Micra, both during a shot as well as over several shots. The Ascaso is much smaller though. It’s odd but really if you consider how similar this is to the mini, it’s essentially the biggest difference between the two and you’d save like 2k.
      Though on the flip you could buy my tile machines for a fraction of the regular marzocco price. You are paying for both quality of build (not necessarily function heavy) and the style.

      Nah. I went there just to see it. I wasn’t prompted to say anything and I made sure to simply introduce it and show the features as a “first look” vs a “review”, because I didn’t own it and a review would be incorrect without prior testing and usage.
      This is an introduction to what the machine is and does.
      That being said it’s still a work horse and functions almost identical to the linea mini. Still has thermal stability issues after 5 or so drinks in a row and of course a huge let down is not having flow control unless you plumb it in. (In 2023 that’s a rough sell) otherwise it’s as sturdy and nearly identical to the mini in most aspects.

    Small correction, the linea mini also features a heat exchanger for the water that goes to the brew boiler, but it's not on the outside of the steamboiler, but on the inside. Probably cheaper this way, but I suspect not so stable for multiple shots in a row.

    • @EmileeBryant
      @EmileeBryant  Год назад +1

      Love this comment because I asked the same thing when it was explained.
      Heat exchangers are a thing yes! In this case it is indeed a copper tube wrapped around the steam boiler. You can see it in the video if you look close. Lance has a great video as well were he talks over how it gets mixed with cooler what to get a specific temp prior to entering the brew head.
