Great video Ted! Thanks for showing the other side of riding when things don't go your way. Especially when you face challenges you didn't expect. Get healthy and take care of your young growing family!!
Serious ride that. I really feel for you with your medical setbacks. It must be hard for you being used to being super fast and strong to just hanging on. I was a racer back in 2015 and had a stroke at a hillclimb. Its been a long journey recovering especially as I fell off and broke my collar bone doing it, I am no where near where I was back then but we are both still riding which is all that matters. Keep on recovering !! From another King.
Thank you for sharing. This reminds me of my own misadvemtures in Colo. I was 1.5 miles away before reachng the Pike Peak summit when one of the park rangers came after me and stopped me from reaching the summit due to strong wind and icy road. At Mt eveans only few miles I was able to ride also for the same reasons. It was in the month of March. I am coming back to finish what I have started.
Sitting here watching your video, looking at my left leg in a cast which will be in for 8 weeks. The injury kept me off the bike most of this year. Its been 3_weeks and it is now have the size of my right leg but my belly is growing too. I understand being disappointed since riding is part of my identity.
Well done! I've only ridden down Pike's Peak (my folks bought tickets to be hauled up and coast down. Turns out that I really do much prefer climbing - but! They were filming Fast&Furious, so that made for a fun descent). I've been in Colorado for 35 years; a few years ago I decided to bag my first Fourteen'er, leaving from my back door in Littleton and riding up Mount Evans. I eagerly await your summit of this hill in my backyard - and see how much you enjoy that brutal road surface on the descent.
Sometimes you gotta leave Ls out on the road to pick up as Ws the next time. I'd love to see you attempt Badwater Basin to White Mountain Peak sometime, when you get your lungs back. Seems like your kind of ride.
Pls take care of yourself- that's some scary stuff. Btw, wife and I just bought a fixer upper in your area - happy to show you how to fly fish and maybe you can show me a few gravel routes😎 Be well
I also got two small kids so riding can be difficult sometimes. I really enjoy your videos Ted, be well ! By the way, I really need to ask is it Ted for Theodore ? Merci
You tried this before riding the Peak to Peak Highway?! Careful with the altitude. It will even put native born Coloradoans on the floor if we push it. And if you haven't the Peak to Peak yet, I'm pretty sure you will eventually. 50-some miles worth of scenic content!
He called Juniper Pass (~15 miles, 3400' gain, summit over 11k ft) a roller 😂. Mega ride even if you guys didn't make it to Evans!
Let me rephrase that. “Infinite roller”.

Great video as always Ted! Thanks for showing the struggle as well as the conquests. Always a fan and love what you do!!!
Hey Ted - be kind to you - PE are serious- very serious - amazing you did as much as you did - make sure you take time to heal
Nothing here is lost on me. Thanks Mick!

Hang in there Ted, thoughts and prayers are with you!
Good effort! I couldn't imagine. Dealing with the Mt. Evans at 3PM after a huge day might be the Impossible Route!
Inspirational! Thank you for sharing. Wishing the best to you in all your future adventures.
You will do it, Ted! Still an impressive ride for the vast majority of us!
Thanks for the great vid. You are real about it and I love it.
Freakin' awesome! Love it!
Recovery days you really can’t beat standing in a river fly fishing in the Rockies.
Great Video Ted and congratulations on the new little one !

Those mountains will be there. Some days don't go to plan. You gotta know when to call it.

And this is why your the King
Hang in there 👊🏻👊🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Wow what a setting!! Where did you film this amazing video?? My fave part is “one less PE”
Filmed from the distance of one right arm from my body. THANKS JENNY!

Pikes Peak is the hardest climb I've ever done in my life. Makes Evans seem flat and thats the 2nd hardest for me. And both in 1 day?
"Zone 2 is threshold" Us mortals on climbs.
you should talk to Sage Canaday if you haven't already. you can compare pulmonary embolism stories. Sage has had a rough time recovering his top-end.
Thanks, yep, been talking with him quite a bit.
Are those Blue lips visible at the 13,000 foot stop? Ted, I think you had "cyanosis" bro

Have you ever read stillness is the key or Obstacle is the way by Ryan Holliday? Good motivation when life throws you banana peels.
There will be another day … pedal on.
Zone 2 at 300. Must be nice
It just means zone 4 is very very hard.
@@TedKing1 for sure. Of course it’s all relative. Cheering on your recovery. Meanwhile, I’m trying get my ftp above 200
I thought trail ridge road was the highest paved road.
Maybe highest contiguous road. That’s at 12k’ something. These are both over 14k’!
