Hi from Germany, found HOME FREE by chance from facebook post of a friend. I love the boys and their music soo much, but...... guess like many of you.....was shocked when heard that Austin will leave. I really miss him:-(
Bastien sounds pretty good. He might not have quite the growl Austin has but was surprised he did the harmonica with Adam. Cool. Tim sounded great and did everyone else!
Sorry, but if you expected him to be you are quite ignorant. Here are only a few things that Austin has on Bastien. First of all. He's a different person. He never was Austin and he is not supposed to be Austin. But he is singing songs that were arranged to fit Austin's voice, not his. No matter who would have joined the band nobody was EVER going to be Austin, and it is incredibly ignorant to think that Bastien could be. Secondly, Austin has more than a decade of being on that stage with these guys. With that comes autopilot. Autopilot means that the brain doesn't have to consciously think about something, but knows how to do it anyway. It means that the mind, which can only hold a few things in focus at any given moment, is going on overdrive in a situation like this, to remember the choreography, which might not seem might but it's still something it needs to focus on, all the intricate details of each of the songs, including which words or sounds, which octave and whick note in what place (and that alone is a lot). This means, in turn, that there is no room to go big. It means what we are seeing is a toddler learning how to walk. Austin was running marathons because it was autopilot for him. It is not yet autopilot for Bastien. Once it is he will ba able to have more volume control, because that is one of the first things to step aside to give room for the more important parts of where and what and how to sing something. It meanst that once those things are on autopilot he has mind capacity to put more emotions into it. It means that once it's on autopilot he can begin to walk faster, longer and he can jump or skip if he wants to. But right now, those things are not possible because that is not how our brains and minds work. It was the very same thing when Chance first started. It was the very same thing when you first started a new job, or started to walk, or ride a bike, or learn how to read or write, or pretty much everything you have learnt in your entire life. Give the guy a break. Have some grace. Stop judging him by comparing him to Austin. Austin has done thousands of Home Free concerts, sung hundreds and hundreds of Home Free songs and arrangements. Bastien has done a handful of performances and sung maybe 15 Home Free songs and arrangements. How can you even stomach comparing them? I hope you never get judged in this way by anyone.

I'm not sur but...I think that Bell sings Man of Constant faster than usual...no? Is he embarrassed by all the new stock he had to learn? Probably it will change wirh time. He has all the talent to be with you...

i appreciate austin's interpretation of this. man of constant sorrow is supposed to be country. it is truly strange to hear it sung in a "pop" way..
