VA is ALSO very useful for non-voice-related functions. It can accept input from your joystick axes, joystick buttons, and mouse /keyboard too. It can be programmed via a simple UI to perform logical tasks that can serve MANY uses. A few examples: 1) Turn ANY key or button into a shift function, such that it doubles your HOTAS inputs. On 2 devices! 2) Change the meaning of a button press depending on the duration (i.e. "press and hold"). Example: Must press and hold landing gear up for 1 second so it will not raise the gear accidentally on the ground if you bump it. Could also be used to "fix" erratic button hardware problems. 3) Change a toggle-only key-bind into needing two separate buttons. Example: More realistic landing gear, air brake in IL-2 (make it similar to DCS). 4) Opposite of above: Change two separate key-bindings into an alternating press of a single button. Example: Use a single button to toggle between cockpit view and F10 map view in DCS (make it similar to IL-2).
@@Laobi No - thank YOU sir, for your videos. NOTE: It requires some very simple programming within VA (I am barely computer literate, but figured it out). If you want, I could post up some code or even drop you a copy of my DCS VA profile via Discord. Cheers
Learned about VoiceAttack from this video, many thanks for that. I was looking for a solution for not being able to see the keyboard and hack my way through the shitty ATC now that I'm using the Oculus Rift. This fits the bill nicely. For your much appreciated and accidental help, I wanted to send you a sincere and whole-hearted GFY, but you didn't ask, so I'll save it for another video.Just a suggestion, to increase the accuracy of speech recognition, use an American accent. I tried using a British accent, and the ATC only ever responded with GFY.
***** Yup, I was thinking about making some generic commands until the ATC .lua is sorted out. Oh ffs, can't wait until they merge two distributions and we have DCS 2.5
VA Is a wicked program. There are heaps of presetup profiles for DCS and many other games. The one I have is HCS Orion for Elite Dangerous which turns my ships AI into William Shatner and the entire ship is controlled through voice which is very cool. On top of that he gives you heaps of cool information about systems your visiting and heaps of others. Another for Star Citizen is A.N.N.A. which is a smart arsed bitch that thinks you're two inches short of a gorilla, and gives you the appropriate respect. lol VA can be a lot of fun.
Yeh real voices for VA is a big thing. Hope you find one you like. HCS ones you have to buy, but last I heard ANNA was free, and had some great jokes. I think you can get anna for elite, not sure. I'm sure you can get some for DCS as well. Smart arse copilot sounds fun lol
Thank you sir! You've stumbled on the Voice Attack conspiracy! I'll tell you the truth, it doesn't actually work or do anything. We who have made videos about it did so to prevent the developers from releasing compromising information about us. Now, obviously that you now know the truth I'll have to report this. So, in the near future some bald men with no necks will turn up at your door, and in a week or so when the stitches heal you'll release a video talking about Voice Attack (but not actually demonstrating it)
Thank you sir! It's getting better as Windows voice recognition gets better, but I find unless you speak like Kryten in Red Dwarf it fucks up occasionally, and sometimes even more!
I think the cleft palete comment wasn't necessary, I don't have one but I imagine it can't be a whole lotta fun for peeps who do. Sounded a bit mean to me man and unwarranted. Thumbs down from me and not watching the rest of your vid.
Thank you sir. I was going to say 'unless you're hopelessly drunk and slurring your words', but then what if those white knighting alcoholics and those who recently underwent dental surgery took offense? I figured there would be less people with cleft pallets out there trying to use voice commands, next time I'll stick to blind truck drivers, oh but what if they hear me?

Thank you sir, and thank you for the very useful list of functions. Some I did not realise existed. I shall go exploring it a little more.

"Time honored ritual where you stare into your pilot's taint fumbling around for the correct function key"
I'm dying here! HAHA!
Thank you very much sir, I had forgotten I even made that video, was going to make one in the next few weeks, glad you reminded me.
Checkout Viacom for Voice Attack, all the commands are already done for you.
This could be great for VR, i'll have to give it a shot thanks!

Thanks for the video :D
Is this just used for ATC? Or can you make it do stuff in the cockpit like tune radios or something?
Thanks a lot for such a nice video!
Just bought it and setting it up with VAICOM. Seems that there isn't a solution for DCS 2.0 alpha yet...

such a clear info video.
I will subscribe.
Can we Have a Simple Radio Review for DCS?

to the point, good work

Forgot to mention. If you use the TM Warthog get Auto Hotkey. ruclips.net/video/RZ0tQp2qDoY/видео.html
may be worth a try. Oh and GFY!!
Excellent!
Thank you very much sir.
I just want to find a video of someone using Voice Attack on DCS. Why does every video have to just be people talking without actually using it??

Well considering that it works so well in Star Citizen, I may just make a video ;)

Thank you very much sir! That was before I stopped caring.
