I´m 29 years old and proud owner of an Alfa Mito, I don´t agree with some things she said, if you´re buying this car for a 17 year old boy (in Argentina this car is very expensive..but I know that in Europe and Usa obviusly it gets cheaper), he will be thrilled. The car is simply great, the DNA system is outstanding, the driving feel is very very sporty...it is not a good car if you have a family, but I drove it for hours and hours in long distances and the confort is outstanding, the leather sits are outstanding, the audio systema also great, in a few words, MITO RULES.
I have never had a problem, It was my first Alfa, nowadays I drive a Giulietta (had a baby 10 months ago :) ), and I feel the same way as I did on the Mito. I had a modification done on the ECU and the car went from 170hp to 210hp...with a 1.4T motor...feels great, drives great. I had Chryslers, Bmws, drove Audis, since I bought the Mito, I never left the brand, when I take the Giulietta for a drive, it feels a disctinctive product. Can´t compare Alfas with a Ford Fiesta...shame you can´t get it in the USA.
I am so happy VW Golf,Polo BMW 3 series and Audi A3 are so popular, there are literally thousands of them around, so when i drive in between them with my ruby red Alfa MiTo it feels so much more pecial, without this industrial look that german cars have, alfa is passion for sport. Forza Alfa!
Alfa had long time ago a batch of 164 with problems on the engine, and 9 years ago on the electric circuit of some 147 first edition, since then alfa has inherited this name of having poor reliability which is total bullshit because it can happen to anyone to make mistakes, that also happened to german car manifacturers, check who had to recall 800.000 cars for their defective airbags, or who polluted half planet by hacking the software that reports co2 emissions during test drives.
I have an alfa romeo mito 1.3 jtdm QV for a year and half and this car made me fall in love for Alfa Romeo, even tho it's the cheapest alfa right now, I never get bored driving it and it does boost my confidence ahah, I think I wanna keep it forever and when the time comes to buy another car, I'll just buy another alfa
I only watched this review because I miss my MiTo so much.... It's not the fastest, and refined, but it has so much soule! No other car makes you happier than an Alfa...
Nazza Khan what’s the difference? The Mito has two doors. Does the giullietta have four doors? If so then I like the two door (because two-door hatchbacks are my favorite)
Well nearmost 3 years (was registered on the 9th October 2009, the first mito in denmark), and im happy that your mito have been as reliable as mine :)
Such a pretty little car. Love it. In the horrid sea of Suzuki’s and Hyundai’s and so on which us Indians are condemned to, these cute little Euro Hot Hatches are just so cool. Aesthetics! So Important!
It has been out for years and for me it is still the most inspiring design out there in the segment. I am not lucky enough to drive one but I see them pretty much on a daily basis. I live near Torino ;)
+jmart2688 The reason small cars like this are popular in Europe is because governments tax the life out of cars. In America people could be driving around in 5 litre cars for the same money.
I bought a mito about a week ago and I'm completely in love with it. Gorgeous little thing and I have already noticed the slightly noisy cockpit, stiff suspension and frankly rubbish entertainment system, yet I still get to drive an Alfa to work. The only thing that i didn't like but i could live with it is that i don't have a computer or navigation system, or how i call it, i don't have a touchscreen. But I can see they left a lot of space for that if you want to upgrade. All in all, i will be having a lot of fun especially since summer is on the way :D

hmmm... I did forget that this Alfa Romeo MiTo still has that Italian passion that makes the car drive well. We don't have Alfa Romeo here in PH though that's why I don't know much about 'em.
iPod connectivity in Fiat means an USB port where you can easily plug in an USB with MP3/WMA files on it, and just play that. The whole Fiat group has this, and if it comes with the Blue&Me system its actually really clever.
I am an alfista. My first car was an Alfa Romeo 155 1.8 TS 8V. I tested a used 2010 Mito 1.4 95 hp. the other day. It rode hard and choppy and was cramped in the back like a Honda CRX from 1988, the steering was uninformative and was as slow as a Renault 19 with 73hp that I also used to own. From a driving point of view, it makes sense. It's small, economical, safe and slow. From a car guy's point of view, it's an Alfa (sort of) and looks great, but the engines are pretty boring (except for the Cloverleaf which you probably can't afford) and I don't get the impression it's very good to drive. The insurance is also a bit higher than other cars the same size. If I remember correctly it was only £100 cheaper than the Giuletta which is better in every way. My first car was the model down from this car. Same wheels but in black. I got it last year as a 17th birthday present. The twin air engine (what i have) makes a good noise. I have a friend that refuses to buy any French car based solely on his car history. Is this based in ego? No. It's about preference. Nothing more.
Perhaps. though I for one still care about driving dynamics, which is why BMW are kinda special to me, and the new Lexus GS too, and that's why I am also a fan of JDM. BTW, why is there something in my mind telling me that iPod connectivity and USB connectivity are completely different features. :-?
You're kidding?? I have never seen a bimmer with plastic wheel covers :)) but here, we do still have cars w/out alloy wheels. Specifically from Toyota, Kia and Hyundai, targeted towards fleet buyers like taxis operators, etc.
It's a beauty.
Yup even in last years 3 series alloy wheels were an option, can you imagine a beemer with plastic wheel covers lol?
I had a '09 Mito 1.4 16V Veloce in gunmetal - ex demo. Geogeous. But I had it after a Renaultsport Twingo Cup (too hardcore!). My Mito was sweet when revved, and a talented chassis was in there. But...the engine drank fuel/gutless, ride crashy, the steering hopeless and the DNA switch a jokey gimmick - and the damn steering used to correct - a safety feature I believe, but felt horrible. Oh, and the gearbox had to be replaced after a few weeks. Swopped for a luvly 500C, now have brill BMW 118d
