This was, and still is the most bone-chilling song off of 808s. I don't know how Kanye managed to do it, but this song is somehow even MORE chilling than the original version.
Kanye didn't produce this remix btw. It's all Caroline Shaw. Her whole sound as an artist seems to be based around her own voice, from what I can tell, so she must've took the stems and re-recorded the whole background instruments with her vocals and through stacking & manipulating them then adding back in the original heart monitor percussion + Ye's vocals. But yeah even without this remix Say You Will has always been a classic. Same thing artsy 80s pop artists like Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, etc got tonnes of praise for is also what got Kanye lukewarm reviews when 808s was released. But yeah thankfully in the 2010s the album got more of the recognition it deserves and Say You Will can now receive some of its due props.
I like this version equally as much as the 808s version, since it's so different. The 808s version feels empty, hollow, abyssal. Like you're floating in limbo. This version feels like an aggressive, chaotic, violent hymn to your own grief. It's like being beaten to death in a 1400s cathedral. Both versions are amazing in their own right. There's no real comparison between the two.

@@Mooseman327 true, but the original was still produced by Kanye, so the statement still holds up. Caroline pretty just replaces the main synth with her voice as well as some nice background details (her throat singing for the riser and the background voices.)
Haunting. Bone chilling. This version encapsulates the true heartache people experience, through the echoing vocals and faint whispers. It’s surprising this version wasn’t on the album, almost as if it was too chilling. More complex and varied, there is actually quite a bit of sadness in Twisted Fantasy too so I find it to be the bigger more interesting mix. So beautiful in person
+bless brian Literally felt like I was about to die and be judged at the gates during the choir break. The word "otherwordly" is used a lot to describe art...but this one time it was especially true. Amazing concert.
Same I thought I was about to be lifted up like the rapture was coming 😂
Is this what a masterpiece sounds like?
yes

Kanye is trippy without even being trippy
Need this and the Mike Dean guitar solo from the Free Larry Hoover concert on streaming 😭
I don't care what people say about Kanye, I love this song no matter what. One of his most emotional songs EVER, I prefer this over the original because of the harmonizing choir and the violin in the background as well, Caroline Shaw really did amazing on here, Kanye gave it it's best on the production and on the lyrics, I will and I will support Kanye no matter what, this dude is mad talented and the goat, he shaped this generation like no other could, thank you, Kanye. For your music getting me through the toughest of times in my life, I love you, Kanye.
Sounds like clouds melting and it's so damn beautiful
