      @@TheGilles82 What utter nonsense. If Edberg was technically superior why is their H2H 25-10 in favor of Becker? Why couldn't Edberg win on Rebound ace? You know the answer but your bias won't allow you to admit it. "Wide openings"? You have absolutely no idea Becker could adjust his swings to compensate, but that's your problem. Old style my @$$. • @grisengaflen8715
      @grisengaflen8715 6 лет назад +2

      yep, one of the few ever to do so. Made him run quicker to the net. michael Stich could land on both feet after serving - but he could also walk on water, metaforicly speaking , when he was in the mood.

      Cheers mate..
      If you are interested like I am in the mechanics of a perfect serve - technically a downward diagonal strike.
      ruclips.net/video/9QL1sglyouU/видео.html
      The recent back foot trail is from staying back ( Jimbo appears to have started that in Open Era ) when has more time to recover balance. As you can see, back foot lead was the norm. It is biomechanically more efficient but most important there was no balance recovery needed to advance - a critical factor in SnV. The last were Becker and Stich I believe. I know Edberg, Rafter, Mac, Pete, Henman, Ivanisevic et al uses lead foot landing. Oddly enough I came across Lendl landing on back foot early on in hits career. Cheers.

      @hehehehehahahaha2025 4 года назад +1

      @@kaialoha You probably also know this, but just in case: the back foot landing first was a vestige from the times when the rules dictated that you cannot be airborne during the serve. It's true however that it can also aid in getting to the net faster, but I question just how much of a difference it makes, considering two of the best SnV experts EVER (McEnroe & Edberg) both elected to land with their lead foot. I reckon they would've opted for the rear foot landing if it really were to be that big of a benefit with no drawbacks. Just speculation on my part, though.
