- Dialysis process uses an artificial kidney (hemodialyzer) to remove waste and extra fluid from the blood. The blood is removed from the body and filtered through the artificial kidney. The filtered blood is then returned to the body with the help of a dialysis machine.
Dialysis is helping people still give quality of life.

I just got my job offer today to start working as a PCT. I was in retail for a long time and I just wanted to do something that would give me more fulfillment. I'm also hoping to get into Nursing school in the next couple of years so I think this could be a good way to get my feet wet. Love your videos

Just wondering if the dialyzer blood port caps should be removed prior to connecting the lines? The dialyzer was hanging on the holder and the blood port caps are off
Do you have to do the same job as phlebotomy or does the nurse poke and draw blood ?
Currently a PCT with Davita ❤ What we do is not easy but we make it happen none the less. I have a fan too girl turn over gets super crazy lol

If you're working at a clinic and you want to transfer, but havent been there 6months can you just apply to another within in the company or ypu have to get approved for a transfer
I think you have to stay where you are for 6 months then you can transfer. It always depends on your situation and you facility administrator 🥰

So I just started, im 8 weeks into training and im freaking out. My anxiety is getting me. My preceptor is great but I need extra help. Where can i get a step by step on hooking the patient up after cannulation.. I'm sure im just overthinking
Hey girl! I totally understand how you feel. I felt the exact same way when I first started. I thought i was never gonna get fast enough and catch up with others. But your preceptors are there to train you every step of the way. Ask them everything and I mean everything. Dont be shy to ask anything to them. Best of luck!! You got this!!🙏👍🤗

I think the venous side takes two prime cycles because, when I think about it, a lot of times when I string machines I start the first prime then I move to the next machine to start stringing and priming that machine but I believe it’s stops Midway to not waste saline… maybe

Do PCTS put the needle in the arm or do the nurses do that???
Yes PCTs mostly do everything. Putting the patients on and taking them off the machine. The nurses do assessments and give medications. 😊

Hi. You don’t really have to take any courses. But if you are planning to migrate to USA, Companies like DaVita and Fresenius will help you to take classes along with your work. Thanks

Hi!! Sorry just now seeing this!! No you don't need to be a USRN to be a PCT. They actually hire a pct with no experience but it's even better if you have any type of medical background experience. ❤ But they will train you from the beginning how to be a PCT.

As someone who is afraid of needles and wanting to be a nurse how can i desensitize myself to this, ive applied to be a pct and i shadowed and i got extremely dizzy (never happened before in my life) felt like i was gonna fall over, when the lady i was shadowing set someone up on the machine. I also didnt eat at all that day so theres that too, im gonna shadow again and really try to get used to it, i wanna do something more fulfilling.
How is it going for you now? I'm a dialysis PCT, this is all new to me.. it's only been 5 months. I was always afraid of needles and blood and thought I could never deal with it but somehow when you concentrate on work aspect, how to insert needles correctly and so on that fear goes away little by little, the more you get exposed. And when you do good it's even better, the fear goes away and confidence comes.

Yes you do! But you only take it one time and you're good forever! Just need to recertify every couple of years!

Niiiiice congratulations!!! Most of the time 12 hour shifts sometimes more or less. It always depends on how many patients and shifts there is. 😊

Hi!! The salary depends on what state you live. If you live in a high cost of living like California or New York, your rate will be high👍 So it's good to do a research which state you want to move in.

As a pct... all we do is clean the patients and get yelled at by the nurses a lot...
The dialysis therapist carries out all of the renal replacement therapy while the nurses get all praise and a nice wage .

No they dont require to bring it 😊

I dont think it's one of the requirements but I work with people who aren't vaccinated.
