no. we have great music nowadays too. People think that the music was netter in the past , because we tend to remember only the good music from the past. We dont remember shitty musicians and songs because they did not last... but today we are confronted with the good and with the bad at the same time. We have great musicians and the legacy of them will last, just like ABBA's , Queen's and so on ...

@@ThomasLittle007 As an older one and being in the buisenes for ages,i partly agree on this but i conclude that the amount of today's exceptional stuff is far less and lacks lots of imaginative wit and inspiration. That's also areason why all those later decades so many acts use so many samples by older stuff('70s/'80s).

A fine example of their early work. It's got everything you expect from ABBA. Lively, up-tempo and catchy as hell. They always look like they're enjoying themselves, too. Have you done, 'Hasta Mañana', yet? That's another early one that would go down really well.

I really liked this as a kid, but less so the older I got. I think it’s the ‘in your face’ sound, there just no escaping it. The galloping backing track is cool and like a fore runner to songs like Take A Chance On Me.
It’s interesting that this did have a video: when the third ABBA album was issued, abba recorded 4 music videos to send out all over the world as they realised television was a great way of getting into people’s homes without travelling. In fact Abba got criticised for using this new medium instead of touring and travelling. The other videos recorded were for I Do, S.O.S and Mamma Mia. It was these videos that truly launched Abba as Superstars in Australia as the country recently launched colour TV and these videos were played on pop and youth programs on heavy rotation. In fact the three songs mentioned were all No’1 hits there, and I think Bang-A-Boomerang made the top ten too.
The song was well known for ABBA as in 1976 when the group were massive, they issued a Greatest Hits album, this collated songs from their first 3 albums, and helped the impulse buyers who wanted to hear ABBA and not fork out money for 3 studio albums. In the UK Abba only had 6 single hits up to this point, so many of the tracks were unheard by the British public. The album became the 2nd biggest selling album of the 70s in the UK, topped the charts for 11 weeks and stayed in the charts for 2 and a half years, it was the best selling album of 1976 and the 9th biggest seller of 1977. It was released in many other guises throughout the world, as ABBA had different record companies in different territories. It was a fabulous collection of songs to hear the early Abba sound.
    Another joyful reaction video.

Yeah the lyrics are very teany-bop but that was a style in the 70's and they have a couple of others like that but get past that and it is just a bop and happy vibe.

It was a single in some countries, so I think the video would have been made at the time to accompany it. It became quite well known in 1976 after it was included in their popular GREATEST HITS compliation album of that time. That is now unavailable due to the release of ABBA Gold, which I think is a pity, as the running order of that 1976 album was quite good.

@@rdwulf6289 Indeed! It was my first ABBA album I got at 12 years old at Christmas from my Mum. When I won a place to attend the opening Gala night of ABBA Voyage I was asked to do some footage of my travel from Northern Ireland to London as a kidney patient. I brought that Greatest Hits cassette from 1976 with me to include in the footage, even though I ended up not really doing any video work to submit. However, at the complimentary after party at a nightclub in central London I ended up sitting beside Bjorn's cousin & his wife from Sweden, and when I crossed the room to find the disabled toilet I spotted Benny appearing from behind a barrier!
With my cassette still in my pocket, I took it out and cheekily asked him if he'd like to buy a cassette and he laughed. A friend took some photos of it, which I now treasure, so that is a very special connection to ABBA Greatest Hits! I never would have dreamed in 1976 that I would ever meet a member of the group, but amazingly four decades later I did just that. Amazing! 🤗

it is so nice and powerful in the fantastic voices of Agnetha & Frida
It was a single only in
    France Belgium Norway Australia
"Bang a Boomerang" was composed by Björn & Benny for other artists to the Melodiefestivalen 1975 in Sweden (the previous to Eurovision, just in Sweden 1975)
It's finally in third place and after these ABBA recording this version, that is amazing!
(remember that by Eurovision rules the song couldn't excede three minutes)
The official video was made in Stockholm on a windy day in April 1975
in 2 days ABBA made official videos for 4 songs from your third album, just tittled "ABBA":
    "Bang a Boomerang"
    "I do I do I do I do I do"
    "Mamma mia"
"S.O.S." (the only recorded before in August 1974)

'children's song"?Even so,So what.I've seen in documentaries where other artists expressed their astonishment while working on Abba song covers, after discovering how much difficult it was to record and how unsuspiciously complicated construction was hidden. They made them reconsider their Abba respectf orn even higher grades.

One of ABBA's strongest hidden gems. And the music video is so full of life, energy and fun. Suggest "Dance (While the Music Still Goes On)" as the next ABBA song or "Honey Honey" with this fantastic video: ruclips.net/video/ZRCn03diB-c/видео.html

There is a Swedish version with Svenne & Lotta. I believe Björn and Benny wrote the song for them in the first place.

Thanks for the reaction, this is one of muy favorites songs from Abba, please react to Dum Dum Diddle, ruclips.net/video/JQyjeZvn3HQ/видео.html , it's a very nice song, similar to Bang Boomerang, but calmer and more relaxing, the main voice Here is Frida, although we know that the beautiful Agnetha is the main voice in most of the ABBA songs.

Dont know why they used it themselves as well? :)

This song was originally written for Bennys former Hep Stars partner Svenne Hedlund and his American wife Lotta (Charlotte). They performed it in Swedish (Bang En Boomerang) in the 1975 Melodifestivalen (national selection for Eurovision Song Contest) as Svenne & Lotta. They ended up on third place and I must say that the Swedish version with Svenne & Lotta is way better than the ABBA version. Mostly thanks to Lottas American accent which gave the song that extra umpff. Svenne & Lotta also recorded the English version but it was about the same as ABBAs version.

it's a nice song for that period, but then again.... it's more Dum Dum Diddle and Ring Ring than SOS.... so it has a kind of cheesiness to it that made Mamma Mia and SOS far superior... it always leaves me torn... yep very catchy, but they pogressed so quickly... it would have made a better first single off the album in late 1974...
