The IT Industry is one example of how American capitalism works. *Customers come first.* ( In India they come last). Human resource is *yet another resource* to be handled in the best interest of the customer who provides the business opportunity and the investor who provides the capital.
The IT industry is now moving from an era of machine-programming to machine-learning. This will render many ( hitherto) lucrative business processes obsolete.
Only in Indian Socialism, can an enterprise be kept alive *just to keep its employees happily employed and living in a world of their own.* BSNL, Air India and many PSB banks are stark examples.
Precious public resources are pumped into the Black Hole of these redundant enterprises while the rest of the country plods along on low wages.
American capitalism on the other hand works by quickly freeing up resources from inefficient / redundant business process and allocating them to better models.
This throws up opportunities for many to cash in on their entrepreneurial skills and make the transition from being an employee to becoming an *employer*.
*That is how America became a land of entrepreneurship and innovation.*
And this is how America with a *fifth of the Indian population* created jobs across the world, while those who preached Communism/ Socialism, broke down and sent their 'dear' Citizens scampering for bread and water.
Those from the industry who have not put aside money for the rainy day, have to now seek low paying jobs in many upcoming industries by citing the experience gained in the MNC IT industry.
Or, like many from the Industry have done, retreat to the hinterland and explore the opportunities in farming. There too lies the opportunities to reallocate resources in a more sustainable way.

If today housing is unaffordable in cities for middle class and upper middle class, it's cos of these IT ppl. I am in IT. I have seen the way IT ppl threw money at early stages of the industry & their lives. Now what they are saying about kuzhandhai kutti& emi, ppl who r working in non-it businesses have been saying for 20 years. I understand abt economy and stuff. But when individuals lead life without social responsibility, it always comes crashing down. I still feel bad for these ppl. The efforts must have been taken long back when the first harassment happened. The selfish attitude and ostentatious living made them believe that nothing can affect them. When reality hits, it gets ugly.
