Lots of people think that the building at the start of this video is the Castle. It isn't. It's the old Court Houses, also known as the Citadel. Mark's & Spencer is the old Highmoor House where Bonnie Prince Charlie had his headquarters on his march south during the Jacobite Rebellion.. You eventually made it to the Castle😀😀
Just an addendum re CUFC . If I remember rightly it was Carlisle Red Rose and Shaddongate Utd that " merged" and became Carlisle United. ( and no I'm not that old I remember watching those teams play BEFORE they settled on Brunton Park as the home of CUFC !! )
Astonishingly.....(after my comment 8 months ago!)....I bought a house & now live in central Carlisle!! Yes,it has been a bit of a culture shock but we love it!! Carlisle has quite a homely feel to it with lots of trees and green area's & the people are really friendly, the only negative is the traffic (for a relatively small town) I have never seen such relentless traffic & car fumes....it's like where are all these cars coming from or going to? Even late at night....it just never stops & I long to take a deep breath without choking on traffic fumes!!! Cities 3-4 times the size of Carlisle don't seem to have this problem.... I'm trying to fathom out why this is?!!
@@4KExplorer ....yes,that's another thing I can't get my head around!! This is SUPPOSED to be the Northwest,so I expected a bog standard 'Coronation St' type accent.....but no,it's basically a 'Geordie' accent here in Carlisle (bizzarely!!)
@@markflatters9819 It's not Geordie ... its Cumbrian ! Mind yould be forgiven for thinking we were not quite Geordies. I've been asked if I'm- Scottish, a Geordie, Welsh or even Scouse !! By the way welcome to the borderlands !

Like most places, depends whereabouts. As any town or city, good parts and no so good. 🤷

Nice, congrats on the move! I do like that not-quite-Geordie accent they speak over there.
