My waters broke at 2am so I called my midwife, she said I could stay at home for a bit until I felt like the pain was too intense. I said I wanted to go to the hospital. My pain went from 0-100 within 20 minutes. Our daughter was born 3 1/2 hour later. I pushed for like 5 minutes + our daughter was posterior (sunny side up) I legit had no ides until this week (almost 2.5 years later) because she just flew out. It all happened so quickly, everyone was shocked how quick it was being a first time mum. Interested to see how our 2nd will go in September

I think those pushes, screams and being squeezed makes him ready to face the challenges right after birth just like we aren't advised to break the egg to help chickens hatch out similarly these little difficulties are what prepare a baby to bear temperature difference, pressures, breathing on their own, screaming and using their mouth to get their first feed.
I might be wrong but that's how I think

I think I skipped active labor and went straight into transition. My contractions were mild, easy to breath through, then i lost my mucus plug and it went from a 1 to an 11 in a few minutes. Baby was born three hours later, only nine hours total. I'm hoping my second comes as fast as my first, because i don't think i could handle twenty four hours of that.

Labor can greatly vary. I followed what I thought were labor guidelines. I was in labor 3 hours with irregular contractions about 4-7 minutes apart. I thought because they were so vast, I had plenty of time. Well, my water broke and I immediately went to get our prepared hospital bags. When I went into the room to get it, I had one sudden strong contraction and my baby practically fell out of me. I had a spontaneous unplanned homebirth.
So far, none of my other births happened so quickly. My theory on why it was so quick is because my family and I moved into an upstairs apartment late in pregnancy. I think the stairs really built my muscles or something.

@@KJacks1017 Oh, yes. It definitely did, but it almost seems like it didn't because it was very quick. My first birth almost seemed the most painful, but I think it is really because it was the longest labor around 20 hours. Pain is definitely more bearable when it doesn't last long.

@@okolietheresa4868 At the moment it happened, not even husband was there. 🤣 That was quite the surprise for him! He was downstairs loading the vehicle.
Fortunately, baby and I were healthy and I gave birth naturally like God intended. I didn't "need" anyone there and just allowed my body to do what it was doing. But we called for paramedics to come and check that the baby was okay and we went to the hospital right after for more tests.
After experiencing this, (and after horrible hospital stays with previous births,) my next child I am going to have at a birthing center in a couple of weeks. I think the medicalization of birth is overdone when it comes to healthy moms. Birthing centers with trained doctors are great because there is only medical intervention if necessary.
And when women get epidurals and lay on their back, it makes labor slower because the position is so unnatural, they have to be told when a contraction is and when to push, and it is more difficult to push hard when you can't feel your lower body. When I gave birth on all fours, the baby came out much easier.

I was induced due to preeclampsia and thankfully my labor and delivery lasted about 6 hours. I was adamant about not getting an epidural, but then I was 4 centimeters dilated and at that moment I was begging to get the anesthesia😂 the doctor inserted the catheter and it was instant relief. By 9-10 cm dilation the epidural effect was gone and I ended up having my baby without analgesia. Thank goodness I only had to push for like 10 minutes.

I agree. American women report having the most painful/fearful labors. Fear causes tension in the body and when we fight it, it becomes painful rather then hard workout. The nervous system believes there is danger so we make it far worse then it needs to be. I have had 4 hospital births, 2 birth center and 1 at home. Home was by far my favorite, fastest. Only 1.5 hours total labor to a big 10lb 23.5 inches long healthy baby boy in our tub! Best experience ever! He was the first time I didn't get afraid and I knew where he was in my body. It was amazing!
Now we are getting ready to have number 8 and I have to use the hospital again after stepping away for 10 years. They still fear mongering, pressure interventions that are not necessary (induction for convenience) and get a mom all riled up about all the potential horrible 2% chances. And I am no stranger to 2% odds, 2 of our boys are born with an extremely rare skull deformity that requires surgery for the brain to grow correctly. So we appreciate modern medicine for emergencies. Bit we need to remember, not everything in life is an emergency. Most of the time it is natural, common to all people that we have to rise to the challenge and accept the hard, relax into it and welcome our babies with deep breaths and confidence that we were made for this. It able to be a beautiful experience. ❤

I can’t agree as a first time mom, I was panicked nervous and all I wanted is to push and get the baby out! And my birth honestly considered to be smooth and fast but still I was so afraid due to that I guess I had bleeding which took longer to make it stop than me giving birth which took around 10 minutes to the stitches to stop my bleeding took 30 minutes! And my active labor and transition were also very fast after my water broke at home I went directly to the hospital and I was 7cm dilated and in 30 minutes I guess blood come out which it means I’m ready to give birth I guess and they took me to the labor room immediately.
