Enjoyed your day! So glad you are feeling better!
A few thoughts: the ‘tree’ on the platter is for liquids to drain away for meat and collect in the well at the side.
I agree, that was a LOT of oil! Add an egg and cut oil by half. Vegetable oil 90% of the time is soy oil 😢. I use safflower oil, much healthier.
The gingham seat cushions with the hearts, just remove the hearts with a seam ripper then launder to close up the seam holes.
Sweet picnic basket! Whenever you alter a basket be sure it has soaked in warm water else the reed will break. Thrift a (cheap) basket with similar size reed to make your repair. Add a minimum of 2” extra reed length to each side of the damage. Baskets can be reshaped somewhat when they are wet. Bear in mind reed shrinks when it dries, so not too tight.
    That sunflower bowl sings ‘fall’!
    Have a wonderful weekend.

You are so funny Julie 😂 I’m watching your excitement over the small rug and looking at the big one and thinking🤔 Does Julie know that it is there? Those rugs wash up great. I had Mum’s old one. It came up like new. The man of the house did the job with a hose or a pressure hose. For the recipe, if you use bran oil it does not change it’s composition under high heat like olive oil. It is good for you too. Sorry the comment ended up so long. I am a bit of a have-a-chat once I start. Love your black chicken. Yes, the brass swan in the bathroom is a great idea. The basket is gorgeous and comes with an extra. A wee mouse hole. Keep your eyes open for some of that cane which you can cut it and adhere it in place. You can buy that cane. You sound much better but you still need to take it easy, please. Blessings from this Australian.

You find such excellent things when you go thrifting. That beautiful basket with the lid can be fixed so easily. Just find another cheap basket with the same width weaving strip and cut off a piece and glue it in, or cut a heavy piece of card stock to fit the hole then stain with coffee and glue in place. Quick fix and looks good as new. Also any items with chipped areas can be fixed with porcelain repair paste or you can mix white glue and make a stiff paste with finely crushed pasta and repair like a putty. To make it match just by a small bottle of craft paint to color it to match the rest of it.

You could substitute melted butter too, like real butter :) I also use olive oil instead of vegetable oil in recipes if I don’t have any butter handy

I think that sunflower bowl is actually carnival Glass. I have some that I inherited from my dad when he passed away that has that pattern in it mine is a green with cranberry color to it it's beautiful. That chicken is adorable I think the clip is actually the front of it and that's where you'd hold a recipe or a photo or music sheet like you suggested. I don't bake but that did seem like a lot of vegetable oil I agree with you there

I always substitute unsweetened applesauce for oil and it works great. You can’t taste the applesauce but it makes the bread or cake nice and moist.

Rum extract is very good in pumpkin bread. Also nutmeg brings in such good flavor.

Glad you are feeling better. The rooster clip holds recipes, but a photo would be cute or maybe use to hold menu or label a dish/pie for a buffet.I was so excited to find a picnic basket like that today at a church sale for $3.00, like you I couldn’t believe it. I’m usually not that lucky.

I have a rooster cut from wood on a pedestal my friend made me over 20 years ago. It is sitting on top of my old phone hanging from the wall. Love the picnic basket 🧺. Your taste runs close to mine!! Glad I found you. You have better decorating ideas than I do! ☺️💞

    Rooster... Right on cue. 😂
You can replace oil with applesauce. You could get some masking tape for the picnic basket, tape it on the inside and use paint to match it. I totally enjoyed this video

It was fun to spend the day with you. You did get some really nice things from Salvation Army. The chicken with the clothespin is adorable. I was wondering if it was for holding a recipe. Did you ever find books for Elizabeth?
The bread looked delicious, I like anything pumpkin. Have a good night!

Hey Julie so glad to know you are feeling and sounding better. Regarding the basket, see if you can match that little space with a piece of brown paper bag. It seems like an easy fix…just cut a piece and weave it in. Hope it helps!

When I make cakes I substitute half of the oil for applesauce and it makes them so moist and delicious
