      Same. They would be begging to be returned after 10 minutes of being in my life. The physical pain and discomfort I am in on a daily basis is literally hell. But I guess we are easy targets who are in no position to fight back. Healthy military aged men on boats are able to fight back.

    My disability is invisible. If I was stood next to you I would look normal to you. However I have brain damage from a stroke in 2016. Which means I have real trouble remembering or recalling information. I get confused easily and when I do I stay confused for hours. Sometimes I can not understand the words that people are saying to the point where it sounds in my head that they are talking gibberish. I here the sound but brain can't translate the sounds into words. My personality has changed which means if I feel threatened whether physically or verbally I go into attack mode. This is not controllable by me. There is no build up of anger. I can go from 0 to 100 in a blink of an eye. Hence I stay away from others as much as possible. On the physical side I limp and feel tired all the time. As well I sometimes slur my speech and have tinnitus. Even though a doctor can say that I have brain damage. There isn't a doctor on the face of the planet who could say with certainty how it effects me. All they can do is list of common effects. Just because you see someone who in your opinion looks able to work does not mean that they are able to work.

      @@AleemaBii It just does my head in that people diagnose a person as not being disabled without any medical qualifications when doctors have a hard time understanding the effects of some disabilities. Also the fact that disabilities can vary in intensity day to day and sometimes depending on the disability minute to minute. Meaning that a healthy person can see the disabled person doing things that the healthy person thinks a disabled person shouldn't be able to do. What they don't seem to understand is that a lot of disabled people don't get help with their disabilities therefore things that we need to get done are done when our symptoms are not affecting us as much. Just because they see you do something does not mean that they can do the same level of work 8 hours a day 5 days a week or in any consistent manner. Yes there are people who manipulate the system for their own benefit but a lot of it will be bravado, not wanting to admit that they are disabled. I know I went through a stage after my stroke where I tried to pretend that I was all right which ended up with me back in hospital. I also know that some of my friends family think I am taking the mick because I look normal all because the conservatives have put in their minds that disabled people are work shy and feckless.

      Something works of fiction like 1984 and V for Vendetta have in common, along with totalitarian regimes like the Nazis, is their disdain for sickness and disabilities, and their eradication of such. When we see similar rhetoric coming from our government, it fills me with dread, amongst other negative thoughts and feelings. Sure it might not be as extreme (yet) but the sentiment is still the same. We are a burden. But it's fine that corporations are allowed to continue with their practices that create many of our disabilities in the first place. After all, money is everything.

    It’s all very well to say that disabled people who can work, must work. What I want to know is, what system will Labour put in place to distinguish between disabled people who can work and those who can’t. Under the Tories there have been heartbreaking cases where people have been found fit to work when they are not. I hope that whatever form the work capability assessment will take under Labour, it will prioritise the needs of disabled people ahead of bringing down the welfare bill. I saw an interview with Liz Kendall a while ago where she said that the best way to lower the number of people on disability benefit is to fix the NHS. That sounds good to me. I know that Labour have a lot on their plate, but I hope they will not keep us waiting too long before they let us know what their plans are.

They'd be more a drain on the system if made to work because they're behaviour would end them up in mental wards or prison. I get carer's allowance to prevent this, £80 a week for both of them. Even some voluntary work isn't appropriate. Not just for them, but society at large. Is it their fault or mine that they're disabled? People are so entitled to good health, they're even jealous at those who don't. Make it make sense. This country has been emboldened lately to be bigoted and supremely small minded. I knew labour were being deliberately evasive about welfare during the election. They wanted disabled people to vote for them on the off-chance they would be more compassionate to the disabled. Labour know how awful the pip system is. It's mostly Labour mps's who from time to time bring up the suicide rates in parliament. They didn't want to risk disabled people not voting for them but didn't want to offer anything concrete either so they could do what they want after the election. It all makes me really worried. • @malcolmt6897
      @malcolmt6897 2 месяца назад +3

      It has become very apparent. There are people who vote for labour, becuase they just assume labour will show compassion towards people, because of their shiny image. If people questioned why labour were being so shifty about the sick and disabled, labour's staunch supporters, would just ridicule people who questioned things. Because we should just 'believe' things will be OK, because labour are 'just better'. And there were times where I explained to a staunch labour supporter, what was happening with starmer, reeves and the sickness benefits. And they were genuinely shocked. Becuase they just 'believe' labour wouldn't do things like this. But it was labour who introduced the horrific assessments when they were last in power. And during the last labour government, Blair tried to make massive cuts to sickness and disability, but was stopped by a massive back bench rebellion. Now Blair is calling the shots, starmer does as he's told. And I really doubt there are many ethical labour mps left in the party. Look at the company that lot keep. Ed balls doing a pod cast with George osbourne; the latter a person responsible for the destruction of his own people, via the horrific cuts targeting the sick and disabled. Blair goes to osbournes wedding. At one point there was talk of David Cameron being employed by starmer, as foreign secretary. We never really had a change of government. They've just had a rebrand. They are playing out a theatre, so the well-off can believe things are different. While the masses seethe with angry, as we get gaslit like this.

    I don't think businesses will want to employ people that are ill or disabled, the only way they will is if the government cover the amount of hours the disabled workers will need for time off, hospital appointments, dr's, or even just going through pain or a mental episode. All those man hours lost.

    sounds a lot better than what weve had. but there should be no pressure to work if you have disabilities. that pressure only pushes you to breaking point. heck its one reason you can get disabilities.. being pushed or pushing too hard. ill note that ''when they are ready was inserted in there''. yes job centers or abuse centers should be replaced with help centers. and i agree with scrapping the benefits reduction on earnings. in favor of an earning cap where you once earning enough can move from benefits to being fully off benefits smoothly. taking half a persons earnings when they are struggling is not helping them to grow its keeping them down. it needs to change from attacking to helping claimants. them knowing how to help for a start and help not being forced that isn't helpful its just controlling. people need support to grow. not a system of oppression to keep them down. that is how to rebuild Britain. with love and unity not hate and division. this could well be our final war as a civilization. one in the minds ad hearts of every man woman and child. do we vote for hate or love ? peace or war ? to stay stuck and fade away or to grow ? either way its one heck of a show.

    I have bipolar disorder, diabetes 2, asthma, FND, chronic back/knee pain after an accident, and sleep apnea. I live in the middle of nowhere and cannot drive due to those conditions. I can fall asleep unintentionally, even when talking to someone, looking at a screen, etc. Also, constant pain and strong medication side effects are brutal. I do get PIP - every penny of it is used purely related to those illnesses - social care is a joke, and why should I claim it if I already have benefits to pay. Therefore, I pay a cleaner, gardener, and carer support. I have twin 12-year-olds, one mildly autistic - I have managed to keep him out of the care system.
    He is in a small class (15 children, 3 TAs and a teacher) for children with SEN. He is in Year 7, and they've extended it to Year 8. That's the oldest they can support. I hope they can manage him into the mainstream. I hope he will not need to move to a specialist school, but it won't be determined for over a year.
    The boys are accommodating and understanding, but I sometimes pay someone to take them out on activities. One with autism does need help at night if he wakes up, so I sleep while they are at school the next day.
    I wish I was well and able to work, but it is impossible now. If I could swap all those disabilities with someone able to work, I'd be much happier. A life free of pain and the opportunity to enjoy time with my children and earn/be self-sufficient again.
    The daft thing is that I pay out more than the benefit amount. I don't expect DWP to pay for the total amount,

    Also the PM has made it clear that whether you are poor or disabled or both poverty is a main factor of focus.The main charities have contacted the new welfare minister regarding the tories proposal of replacing cash payments from pip.I think Labour will not entertain the tories proposal of pip but they will look into lcwra which is part of universal credit.Keep up the good work guys 👍

    Staff not allowed to ask questions! My son actually helps people! He's one of the good ones! He has no job guarantee after August! Staff actually don't know whats going on! Told they will be informed after the budget!

    Do the government still give money to those with a drink problem? If so, it should be stopped immediately. I’m an alcoholic (clean for 12 years) & stopped without claiming anything in the way of a few quid each week to buy MORE alcohol during the long years of drinking everyday.

    • @robkelly9258
      @robkelly9258 Месяц назад

      This is a complex one, as you well know when you are dependant you can not just "stop", It can kill you, the problem is it takes about 1 or 2 years to get into a residential rehab once you attend all the meetings, have all the blood tests, try to cut down etc etc. So if you get people into rehab quicker (3k a week) it would help. However they need to want to stop drinking and not just get back on it as soon as they are out. The other option is to just go cold turkey, have a seizure or risk death, then call 999, that will probably cost more than 3k and it is just not right.

    Personally, i’d love to see the whole thing scrapped and replaced by universal basic income. It would be possible to fund by just redirecting money from other areas. I think this is the only sensible solution long term which could combat all potential problems with poverty, illness, and the future of work where AI and robots do a lot more. UBI makes complete sense to me, but may be far too progressive to be generally accepted quickly. Labour have only been in power for 4 days, and they’ve already done a lot of good things. But this kind of reform would restructure society and take decades alas… but I do think with AI and robots doing more work that UBI is inevitable.

    • @LumpyMoose
      @LumpyMoose 2 месяца назад +4

      @@Ray-555 That’s not de facto UBI …I’ve lived through only 1 labour government, but experienced the many benefits brought in by the labour government after world war 2. Life has always been a lot better with labour and I’m very excited that they are finally back in power. Only trouble is the country is in such a mess that it’ll take 2 terms to turn things around. They’ve only been in power 5 days, give em a chance lol.

But currently they must show a suspicion of fraud . A lot of fraud cases are uncovered by people contacting fraud hot line and the DWP evaluate these and obviously get lots of cases from these.
