    I now understand why my appeal in court with a judge and Doctor was denied this week, DWP has kept me thinking I was going to be able to convince an appeal board after waiting Ten months to gain access to LCWRA. SO they are scheming, deceptive overlords. By what you have said today, I’m going to have to fight for PIP just prove that I’m not fit for work.
    But could possibly loose all my benefits. I currently receive LCW, but it would seem not for much longer, a lot of this nonsense could sorted if they bothered to use the money they waste on appeals and tribunals to actually doing a proper physical examination, and not useless telephone interviews with a HCP, WHO HAS NEVER MET OR SEEN ME. THIS IS JUST DISRESPECTFUL .

I had my benefits stopped for a reason I will not go in to but it was not my fault, and I have a million hoops to jump through to get it reinstated. I am seriously sick right now, and they know it. It's really frustrating how the LCWRA payments were scrapped for those who claimed ESA or UC after April 2012. 😤 The changes meant that contribution-based ESA was limited to 365 days unless you were in the Support Group. This left many people without the financial support they needed, pushing them to rely on income-related ESA, which not everyone qualifies for. It's tough to see how these changes have affected so many vulnerable individuals who depend on this support to manage their health and well-being. Let's hope for more compassionate policies in the future! 🤞

      If you have been signed off sick by a doctor for more than five consecutive weeks, you are able to apply for any sickness related benefit under universal credits by filling in a uc50 form. This is then to reward you an assessment in the hopes of claiming lcwra which under universal Credit is an extra £410 a month
      You are also able to claim for pip that any mental health conditions that affect your day-to-day living or mobility issues.
      If you need any assistance in applying for these benefits, I would strongly recommend using websites like Turn2us or Entitled2 as these are free and offer guidance in doing so 😊

      Completely understand where you're coming from. Reading information can be overwhelming. Filling out forms is nigh on impossible when suffering poor mental health, many don't have insight into how ill they really are. Not everyone has friends or family who fully understand how debilitating this is. Outreach services are non existent in some areas and patients are being discharged from cmht's. Try and find an understanding gp who will support you and give guidance. Stay strong, one step at a time.

      I don't know if your local council and GP surgeries have this option, where I am I was referred after online sessions with someone off the GP surgery although this council GP thing is also self refer where I live. I've had mental health and physical issues for many years. Even though I had recieved finally a pip award that was right and got a years back pay, due to some of my mental health issues I struggle to spend it and to find services to help me from trusted places. Having been refered to "going local - social prescribing" I am finally being linked up with places I can turn to for help both free and paid via pip money. Having been struggling for literally forever and entirely reliant on family I am finally getting close to the help I need to survive. They honestly have been a complete life line and there are loads of things they can help with. Which includes linking you to people that can help with benefit claims etc. Please take a look at your local council or nhs trust or both and see if you can self refer, I fact anyone who is struggling to find the right services or people to help you see if your area run this. Mine is a link up between the local council and the GP practices.

They work on a short term basis think 3 to 6 months but they direct it towards what you need, what help you need to access things and also provide support.

      Every one in the work place is responsible for their own & every ones safety . Most sick & disabled are on medication of some type including strong opiate pain killers . I can’t see how that doesn’t contravene the health & safety in the workplace regs about being under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the workplace . I also reckon it would void any companies public liability insurance & any other insurance policies they have , if a sick or disabled employee on medication suffered or caused an accident or death whilst at work . I think both Tory & Labour governments ,in their rush to force genuine sick & disabled persons into employment or training , have not stopped to really think this one out .

    But PIP and ESA/UC are two totally different things. Many people on PIP are working but need the support for an adapted car or Taxis to get to work as just a couple of examples. ESA/UC is for those out of work or too ill to work. So, what they're saying is, if you don't need the extra help that PIP provides, you are also fit to work in general. This is why they have been kept separate. FFS! What is the matter with politicians?

But the DWP being the DWP give with one hand and take with the other. Recently I had my benefits stopped for no fault of my own. They will find any tiny little excuse then make you beg for your money back by forcing you to jump through hoops and provide evidence you didn't break any rules. It's never ending with them, I have serious health issues, and frankly, I don't think I have long left. I certainly hope I don't because I'm done with living in this country, and this planet. I'm honestly fed up with how the system handles autism and PIP rates. It's frustrating to live with autism and only qualify for the lower rates, while it seems like some people who might not face the same daily challenges are getting the Enhanced rate. It feels like the system is skewed and doesn't truly understand the spectrum of needs that come with autism. Why should those of us who genuinely struggle every day be overlooked while others seem to navigate the system more successfully? Labour should really step up and reform this to ensure fair support for everyone who needs it! 😤

  • @honeymckinley9357
    @honeymckinley9357 9 дней назад +6

    It makes no sense to combine the 2 in that LCWRA is for being too ill to work but PIP helps people with disability/health issues whether or not they work e.g. providing adapted vehicle so they can access work. It does make sense to share info between WCA and PIP assessments so it costs less money overall and reduces the amount spent on benefits without reducing the amount people get or stopping people from accessing those benefits. Even my disability coach said they have to double the back end processes because if someone already on PIP they are getting them to fill out a massive and very similar form and have WCA (with added costs for appealing wrong decisions) and making them wait 4 months to get paid the extra LCWRA when you could spend a lot less just taking the relevant info from PIP forms and assessment seeing as it's not breaching any confidentiality with them both being in the same department. I'm guessing that as parliament not been in session all August nothing has been set in stone as it would require bills and that Labour are unlikely to announce any changes until the budget in October so they don't cause the sort of panic the green paper did like getting hundreds of thousands of people putting in PIP claims in case that policy came in. Crossing fingers but not holding my breath!

    It's concerning how the pandemic has led to a surge in PIP claims, with some people only applying because they became aware of the benefits during this time. It raises questions about whether the system is being overwhelmed or even taken advantage of by those who might not have considered applying before. While it's crucial for people to get the support they need, there’s also a worry that this sudden increase could strain resources and impact those who genuinely rely on PIP for long-term health issues. It’s a complex situation that definitely sparks debate! 🤔

I am also trying to get rid of the term CFS as a) it was coined by US insurance companies to avoid paying out for ME and b) people often conflate it with chronic fatigue which is deemed by WHO to be mental health issue and is a symptom, much like chronic pain, and use it to say ME is all mental health rather than a neurological disorder as categorised by WHO. What Doctors Don't Tell You argued when you google chronic fatigue you often get articles on CFS so must be the same so I sent them the Wikipedia and WHO definitions so they stop putting out misinformation. Eg Bart's used to have CFS/ME (meant to be ME/CFS but only seems to be switched round in some NHS situations) housed in Psychotrauma department on 1st floor with no lifts and you had to request a ground floor room, one of the "specialists" was involved with the PACE trial, I was told it was biopsychosocial by them, they never attended Invest in ME conferences and one told me ME is more tiredness and fibromyalgia is more pain and was surprised when I told him you can have both and there have been MRI scans showing the difference between people with ME, fibromyalgia, depression and "normal" controls. Sorry, for the militant outburst and thank you for supporting us!

    Disability payments in one sense are also related to the state pension, which are somewhat relevant to me at age 53 - in recent decades the state pension has become a benefit that needs to be applied for (which never happened to previous generations) and at one point it was even subject to tax, now they want to means test the state pension - it is almost a certainty that in the coming years the state pension age will increase to at least age 70, possibly age 75 or even 80 in the U.K. alone, but in my case, it will be irrelevant to me, because I will effectively be forced to work well past retirement age, even with any physical or mental health issues, regardless if I remain in the U.K. or move back to Ireland - either way, I will almost certainly face a very bleak future in retirement - this also raises serious questions about the entire benefits system in general in the next few decades, regardless of whether or not the U.K. economy and the benefits system collapses, is it really going to be the case that even the concept of both the state pension and all other sickness, disability and other benefits for people who are not working will eventually be scrapped, but it will be done gradually by changing the rules constantly - noticing these patterns and trends over several years and decades in both Ireland and here in the U.K. makes one really wonder if this is the general direction of travel, which is also a similar story regarding private and works pensions - all of this, coupled with recent plans by Labour to privatise the NHS, are both worrying and an important indicator of how the U.K. and Ireland is losing its moral compass when it comes to elderly, sick and disabled people in particular

    I will take my life if the government keeps pushing. I have no family, no friends and I am 100% isolated. I am sick of the attacks. I am too unwell and tired to take anymore of this. My life has been taken from me. I didn't ask for this life changing illness. What's more, the nursing team did not tend to my needs and I was found unconscious nearly dead in my apartment. I now have sepsis on top of my other life changing illness. The doctor told me I was hours away from death. The nursing team did this to me and now I am weaker, need a walking stick around my apartment and no solicitor will touch my case of serious negligence by the nurses because the government has put a stop to any legal mishaps from the NHS.
    I am done with this F😮😮ING life. I don't go out because I am medically housebound. I have not been out of my apartment since March 2020. Cannot find a girlfriend either. My life is over and the government wants to cut my money???

We may learn more on the green paper then!! Ps Disability News Service is a good site.
    Pps they were due to hand over the department the book by John Pring of DNS to the people at Westminster for all labour MPs in a prearranged meeting. But they were blocked and prevented and only after disability activists including families members highlighted in the book protested that the officials relented(at one point they were told they’d have to send the books to all MPs by the Royal Mail). Which at the outrageous cost of stamps would have been several hundreds of pounds! Hope you’re both well and doggoes are out of the bad books!..

      Idiotic comment. 1) a high percentage of people on PIP work full time but have serious disabilities for which they need support. 2) To get ESA you have to go through rigorous work capability assessments on a regular basis. 3) You don't understand unemployment. Obviously. Current unemployment is 4.2%. The third lowest amount for decades. A common mistake people also make when looking at unemployment figures (currently 1.44 million people) is that they think it's the same people all the time; whereas an extremely high percentage of those people are, on average, only out of work for 3 months according to government statistics. 4) For a functioning capitalist economy to work properly it is said that unemployment should not fall much below 5%. This is called NAIRU - "Non Accelerating Inflation Rate of Unemployment." It indicates a failing economy. Basically, if everyone was working, companies would offer increasingly lower wages as there would be no reason to look elsewhere for better qualified people. I assume you don't want to take lower wages so all the people you deem should be working were actually in work?

      Hi, I had a PIP review this year. I don't know if my timeline of events might help you etc. I sent my review form back (online) about 26 March, due to our PIP post getting lost in early/mid February (we hadn't got the original form at all, never did, we just received a reminder out of the blue for something we never had!). So we called them and they extended it for us. Anyway...PIP form went in 26 March, then we didn't get a text until 2 May to say they would book me a review assessment. The phone assessment appointment then didn't happen until 1st July, so 2 months after they said they would book an assessment. Then we finally got a letter through the post to confirm continuation of me receiving PIP, received about mid July. Suffice to say, they are taking a bit of time as they're busy. All the while this review process was happening, my PIP was not stopped, I continued to receive it (my award was actually originally to run until October this year but they reviewed me in plenty of time beforehand). But they also said to me that they wouldn't tell us on the phone whether it had been awarded, so don't bother to phone them after the assessment! It's a waiting game. So don't panic, but DO chase them up again if you haven't heard anything, write down the date and time you called them, and then ask them on the phone call, what date should you call them back if you still haven't heard - ie, how long before you should call them to say you've heard nothing. Because you worry things might get lost in the post - tell them something like that. That way, if they have given you a date you should hear by, they can't penalise you for not contacting them in time, IF your letter happened to get lost in the post, because they would have told you, oh don't contact us until BLAH BLAH date. I hope I make sense! All the best.

      Vouchers haven't been mentioned or had any traction for months, DWP knows they won't work and have recommended against it.
      There is no confirmation of vouchers and no proof that's this going to happen.
      If they decided to go down this route it would take around 2 to 3 years to implement.

    Does anyone know how this affects ppl who only claim LCWRA ? Will they no longer be able to claim without PIP ? If so all those claimants being assessed for LCWRA will they automatically be entitled to PIP whereas before they weren’t unless they had the dreaded PIP assessment. Plus can a claimant be refused one benefit but be awarded the other ? Does anyone know or is it not decided yet because it’s not making sense to me .

    Whilst it would be nice to only face one set of hurdles and hoops to jump through, if it goes wrong then thats the big issue. Unfortunately it seems to depend so much on who assesses you, how they interpret you (honestly they are not trained well, ive been accessed as relaxed because i smiled and laughed, erm no i was shitting myself and nervous laugh and smile because im trying to be a decent human even when im never too sure what is correct). Ive had GPs who have never seen me and only treated me over the phone for a urine infection state that i have no problem attending a face to face medical at a centre, even though i was too housebound to attend the doctors surgery and have been agoraphobic for decades, only theres 15 GP in my practice so most have never seen me or might of spoken to me once on the phone for a matter unrelated to my mental health. This is where it can go terribly wrong and its concerning. Peoples lives, homes and mental health are in serious danger when they make errors. Thats without questioning if the actual pip tests are a reliable indicator for ablity to work.

      Yeah tell me about it. Us who mask get sh*t on by assessors. I have learning and development difficulties and they tricked me, it's cruel. It's like the abuse I've delt with all my life, I was honestly traumatised by pip. I won in the end at tribunal, it was hard to go through but got support

    • @trace567
      @trace567 9 дней назад +1

      @ZoeW335 I'm glad you won in the end, you shouldn't of been put in a position of having to fight like that. They don't see, I fact even doctors etc don't see behind the wall as I call it. The attempts made through habit of trying to survive life and putting on a unconscious act. It's like if you didn't shower or clean up I all the days weeks or months prior to them stepping in the door, but out of human nature knowing social interaction is about to happen we clean ourselves, put on fresh clothes, Do a degree of urgent clean up indoors and put on a smile, the smile and nervous talking or laughing isn't remotely an indicator of panic before the time, the pills popped to try and get through or the mental punishment once it's over on "why did I talk so much, did they think I was rude, did I come across weird, what if they couldn't wait for it to be over" etc etc....they see none of it.
