Thanks for this, my mother has dementia and was admitted to a care-home 18 months ago and had I known I would have claimed AA then if I had known, so have lost £8000 I was entitled to - DWP were very efficient in sending me a duplicate letter! stating any back-claim was invalid, but have not settled the claim yet, despite the fact that my mother as terminal AD. I will do my utmost on RUclips to publicise to others that AA is a right!
No carer’s allowance for those already on state pension. Tough for old ladies with ailing husbands. Work, work, work through your old age with no breaks, holidays or financial help until you are totally worn out. The Attendance Allowance is paid to the one needing care, not the carer.
i am 73 and have lots of needs, mobility joint pain etc but people of my age just get on with life some days i cannot get out of bed spend the money on the young
The DWP will reject the application twice so don’t get discouraged you have too go for a third application be warned don’t give up they do this with everyone

Hi Colin, I think you may be entitled to some benefits. Can I suggest you look at the website www.Turn2us.org.uk You can search for a local adviser here www.turn2us.org.uk/Working-With-Us/Find-an-Adviser-Help who may be able to help you. I hope you manage to get the assistance you need.
Hopeless, him indoors has had a stroke affecting right side, had an artery in the neck cleaned as blocked. Has shaky hands not diagnosed. Unable to wash hair, shower , clean teeth personal care, unable to cook or prepare a simple meal like a sandwich, spills drinks, can’t get up and down stairs. Still said ‘no’ doesn’t fit the criteria and told although 72 mostly older people get it rarely his age. So don’t hold your breath when applying as your life can be seriously compromised and you are still told no.
You can appeal. Read more about how to do it here www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/attendance-allowance/attendance-allowance-appeals/appeal-an-attendance-allowance-decision/
Hello how much time does take get carar’s allowance approval letter i have claimed 4 weeks ago still waiting didn’t receive any response I phoned them they said you are on waiting list
You’ll only need to attend an assessment to check your eligibility if it’s unclear how your illness or disability affects you. If you do need an assessment you’ll get a letter saying why and where you must go. During the assessment, a medical professional will need to examine you.
Thanks for the information great video by the way I am using smart technology artificial intelligence voice recognition programme to assist me as I am crippled
The Government Department responsible for this, put as many y obsticals in the way of actually claiming this. I have tried twiceboth time rejected, yet according to them you have to be bedridden and require a 24 hr nurse. Guidelines are totally thrown away, it boils down to the person looking at your claim and whether they had a good night out the day before. Total waste of time.
Just been rejected for this.. Had 2 bulging discs and sciatica for 3 years, worked even though I was pensionable age but had to give up last year due to the pain. Sometimes can barely get upstairs and on bad days just rest in bed. Was in hospital few months ago for pain control. Cant drive when on meds so then I cant go out...😔
I should have claimed long time ago for the allowance but because of deep depression I never claimed, is possible to backdated your claim to when you first became ill?

2022 MY ATTENDANCE ALLOWANCE HAS JUST INCREASED BY. ARE YOU SITTING DOWN .. OK WELL HERE GOES 6P PER DAY. NOW MY MONEY PROBLEMS ARE ALL SOLVED. WONDERFUL. WHAT A FRIGGING JOKE
Your AA could not have increased by 6p per day: there are two rates, lower and higher, which since April '22 stand at £61.85 and £92.40 respectively, increased from £60 and £89.60 for the previous financial year. I am at a loss to know where your 6p figure was arrived at, perhaps you could look again at your benefits and see where you have miscalculated; then apologize for the misinformation.
