I love how Summoning Salt is seen as the gold standard of speedrun commentary, and this style is taken and used in so many videos, and everyone is like "hell yeah this is great" instead of being all shitty about copying styles. We all just wanna know more about speedrunning and this is the best format we've seen.
I completely agree. Summoning figured out a really clean documentary format that clearly communicates the techniques, routes, and runners and how they all changed over time. I remember his videos better than most of my lectures from undergrad. It's absolutely worth emulating by anyone that really wants to do a historical overview of a given speedrun's progression.
Only in the speedrunning community will you find an hour long documentary praising the dedication of one man made by another legendary speedrunner , I will never stop loving this community and by the gods have I loved every bit of this masterclass in research and explanation of speedrunning . Love you Cata for being a true legend, a great runner and most of all a huge part of this community

I've played ds2 and ds3, not as much as some, but figured i I'd like to get back into the series after not playing for years... just started ds1 yesterday, and I've spent nearly an 1 hour, death after death, haven't even made it to the first boss yet. (The one after getting g to firelink shrine) That's also due to my persistent dedication to smack the skeletons around, but can't seem to make them my b*tch yet.
If you mean without stopping the video then you clearly need to revise your math again but if you meant with stopping the video then you need to relearn everything about math again by the way I actually hate math

I mean really he couldve just multiplied 11 by 3 then subtract that from 1 hour and he wouldve realized 59:27 is more than 57:43. Tho ig when it comes to time lots of mistakes are made as you subtract that 33 seconds from 60 seconds not 100 seconds. Seems obvious, but its a common mistake. I love math. It just makes sense with so many tricks to take advantage of. Instead of multipling 19:49×3 which isnt as fun or easy. Going 49×3÷60 ending with 2 with a remainder of 27. 19×3=57 finally ending with a 57:00+2:27. Seriously if you had to do all math this way id hate it to. The little tricks is whqt makes it fun. Since 19:49 is so close to 20:00 i can just multiple 20:00 by 3 then the difrence would be those 11 seconds multiple by 3. Subtract those 11 seconds and done. Tho thats repeating myself. Mught as well do it again. Finding these little tricks with logic and reasoning is a lot of fun.

Finally a game series that quenched my thirst for quality gameplay i havent played anything even remotely as good as souls series in years. Its not embarrassing to take your time and finish the game completely. Finally got a ps4 so bloodborne is on next on my list.

This documentary has a criminally small number of views. The production value blew my mind right from the start when I saw that 3d text somehow put into Lordran. The music choice was amazing, the training montage was amazing, and that final gamble at the end was just cathartic. You are up there with SummoningSalt as being the tippity top when it comes to producing any kind of gaming content, let alone speedrunning videos.
I remember watching Otz`s video for DS 2 SOTFS Full no hit run and this vid gave me the same vibes. Being a part of such a wonderful community built up around such an unfriendly game makes me feel so happy for some reason. Thank you, Cat. Very inspirational in a way. Keep up the good work. Much Luv

I used to do a few Any% and SL1 runs for fun when the WR was over an hour before a lot of the major skips like Kiln, I remember Duke skip being found, all that was lit
About Treynquil's 25:11 run, I remember that going to seek for the BKH at the beginning of the run was also been possible with an update that allows players to get the loot even if the mob felt into the void. Before that update (correct me if I'm wrong), the loot was stuck and lost for ever. With that update, you can just kick the Black Knight into his death, and run away. By the way, this was a very complete and enjoyable video. Congrats ! :D
Got an instant subscription from me for this. Love dark souls meta lore vids. The speedruns of these games were always a big deal to me. They showed that you didnt have to play the game slow to have fun.
