My sweetest memory is hearing this on my Nana and Pawpaw's big black radio on their breakfast bar at their house back in DeVille Louisiana ⚜️ when I was a boy back in the early 70's. I was born in 1967. This is real Country Music.
There are certain singers who come along once in your lifetime, like Hank, Johnny Cash, Jim Reeves, and a bunch of others..They are all gone now and never will be replaced...The only thing today's generation has is the bunch of imitators that you see on shows like Country Music Awards, that can't measure up no matter how hard they try.....It's a shame.
My dad - a Chinaman from New Zealand, used to play this song often in my childhood and I remember him singing along at the top of his voice with 'Hank'. My siblings and I knew all the words and just listening to this track brought back so many memories of dad and the good times we had. Bet Hank didn't know he had Chinese/Kiwi fans back in the 50's. Dad was so sad when Hank died. You'd have thought he lost his own brother.
Hank's singing was always so pure, no extra frills to distract from the melody. Not many singers are good enough to be so straightforward in their vocals. Thank you dear Hank.
My wife & I went to a Hank Snow show in Christchurch New Zealand in the 70's. It was an amazing show! After the show Hank was there to sign autographs for his fans, my wife & I both shook hands with Hank & got his autograph. He was an amazing showman! They don't make them like that now! ted
I grew up listening to Hank Snow. The one song that really stands out in my mind as a boy growing up is, I see Jesus standing at the Fathers right hand. Still love him and his singing along with the others from the past. Most are gone now but we have their music, thank God. Todays so-called country isn't country at all and I don't listen to it. As a Nova Scotian, I have always loved Hank Snow,s talents not just as a singer, but his tremendous talent as a guitar player. He was a perfectionist, and a no nonsense man on stage. Something the newer generation could learn from. Also, in this video, please note his guitar player, the great Chubby Wise, who played with Hank for many years until a bad heart condition made him retire.

Hank said Bill played a tape of 25 songs he wrote and Hank said they were all trash. He told Bill, "Bill these songs just aren't any good." Bill told him, " I have one more and you may as well listen to it." And the 26th song was this !!! What a great story and what a great song!
Been a huge fan of Hank's for many years. Great singer/storyteller & love when he picks his Martin. The finishing touch is his Rainbow Ranch Boys! Fabulous! 👍👏
Dear Mr. DelTangBrav, Thank you for posting this song once again. I made a comment two months ago, addressing my praise, but I would like to thank you once again. Your channel has introduced me to the wonders of country music. As a young person, I am surrounded by soulless music, but (older) country music, especially with artists like Hank Snow, capture the amount of story and beauty of music that I adore. This rendition of A Fool Such as I remains one of my favorite songs. I cite this video as the beginning of my love of a simpler kind of music. Once again, thank you! I hope you are doing well during the quarantine as well.
My spirits are lifted when I read and hear of younger people who appreciate the simpler country music that told a story and gripped your heart. I was born in the 50's and grew up in the 60's. Many a night I had my huge transistor radio in my bed, listening to 50's and 60's country, which was modern at that time. In the late 60's and early 70's I was in a band that played the rock of that time. When I left the band I went back to the old country. Now in my later years I still play Hank Snow, Ernest Tubb, Ray Price, and the like. The 40's, 50's, and 60's country music is hard to beat. The 70's, 80's, and a lot of 90's had some good country, but most since then has missed the boat in a big way.
@@jlmikeals9236 I am slightly envious of you, you got to grow up in such a good era of music! Of course, since this is an age of computers, I have access to any music I want, but it must have been different to grow up with this music being more mainstream. I admire this music dearly and it makes me want to live a carefree country lifestyle myself. It’s very cool that you were in a band, though, that sounds like such a cool experience!
This song used to reach my heart like so few . When you hear country that connects with your insides it is just not possible to explain to any other than another country lover with that same result . sigh , this is so great with all my favorite instruments , Oh here i go , sliding out of my chair again , mmmmmmm, but so nice !
I had the good fortune to attend a concert of Hanks in of all place New Zealand. Yes Hank surly looked after his fans. Hank guitar work on stage is perfect and unique. What a great talent.

i like all the hanks hank snow, hank williams, and hank locklin great tune ty for posting it, brings back childhood memories.
Hank said Bill played a tape of 25 songs he wrote and Hank said they were all trash. He told Bill,
"Bill these songs just aren't any good." Bill told him, " I have one more and you may as well listen to it."
And the 26th song was this !!! What a great story and what a great song!
Been a huge fan of Hank's for many years. Great singer/storyteller & love when he picks his Martin. The finishing touch is his Rainbow Ranch Boys! Fabulous! 👍👏
Dear Mr. DelTangBrav,
Thank you for posting this song once again.
Thanks for taking the time to show your appreciation.
Good song...I remember my Mom playing it when I was young...reminds me of her.
You just don't hear this kind of beautiful melodic fiddle music anymore in country music
Thank god we don’t this shit will put u to sleep

This song used to reach my heart like so few . When you hear country that connects with your insides it is just not possible to explain to any other than another country lover with that same result . sigh , this is so great with all my favorite instruments , Oh here i go , sliding out of my chair again , mmmmmmm, but so nice !
Thanks for the comment Karen - it's good to know that uploading it was worthwhile. Don't forget to add it to your favourites ☺☺☺
