      They are fully automated, barely checked and not good quality or sophisticated like this.
      These are very costly and used by very professional and expensive artists.

      Man, I like getting fresh brushes, and I trim the stray hairs in the old ones to try and maintain it's shape. But they loose their spring so eventually to have that feedback from the paint and canvas they need to be replaced. Hell, in Asia they have a big ceremony every year to destroy the last year's brushes, and they get a bunch of new ones.

    The process is very interesting. What I don't understand is why they attach this unnescessary three layer painting which makes the item pricy. A simple wooden handle would do, wouldn't it?

    • @adriathecat7436
      @adriathecat7436 Год назад

      Painting the handle is probably the least expensive part of the process.
      Although there is a high initial investment (machinery) the process is automated and the paint (like the paint on pencils) would be cheap.
      What makes these brushes expensive is the fur that they use (as well as the labour involved in production).

    I always used to think why Acrylic paint brushes cost so much? Now I know why. Thanks for sharing this video

    • @Lacroix999
      @Lacroix999 2 года назад +1

      Acrylic brushes are actually the cheapest ones out there. Next is oil, then watercolor ones. Acrylic ones get beat on with the medium of acrylic being basically plastic. Next being oil, they need to be sturdy enough to hold the thick heavy bodied paint of oils and solvents when working with oils. Watercolor is a more delicate medium with no harsh binders or solvents, but the hairs need to be able to hold just the right amount of water and pigments to make them flow easily. The materials they’re made of need to be able to acquire that process in the right manner which is harder to do with nylon. Technology is getting better to be able to make them in vegan materials now to be able to function properly for the medium as needed. Watercolor being of the more expensive mediums, it’s no wonder why the brushes needed are also more expensive as well since they need to be better brushes to get good quality results from them. When painting in watercolor, the paint dries faster and you need the right amount of water on your paper to do so. Getting the right amount on your brush helps a lot so you’re not constantly back and forth with the water and/or pigments before it dries. In most cases, you want a super thirsty brush to do the job. These brushes shown here are for watercolor.

      @@morinette8162 in harder brushes used more often for oil than anything else I often see bristle (which is for example pig hair), and in soft brushes for watercolors Ive seen sable, badger, squirrels. Ive seen some goat hair brushes too. Its good to know that small animals like sables are often born in captivity, in tiny cages, lose their minds (because cages are too small and hurt them) and then get skinned alive to keep the fur quality as high as can be
      Nylon brushes you will often know when you see them, theyre more shiny than natural brushes
      Most acrylic brushes are nylon
      If youre not sure its good to read brush description or ask the seller:) often helps in identifying brush type
