yeah jazz basses have a distinct but similar tone when on the neck pickup. i own both types of bass. this is definitely a precision though. they have a sound all of their own and to me that is one of the reasons why they're one of the most popular basses ever made
I think the bass should have been louder in the original song. They probably kept it at a low volume so that the piano would be the featured instrument.
