    I just found your videos the other day and it made me so happy!
    My grandma taught me how to saw when I was 5 so I made my first clothes before I even started school :)
    I'm from Sweden so I spent 2 years learning how to make women's clothes in high school. We only had a few other subjects, the rest of the time was spent learning to make patterns, design clothes and sew :) I used to make all my clothes back then. It was easy being able to basically use a size small- medium pattern and having the knowledge to make adjustments.
    Well, that was 30 years ago and these days no patters fit any more! I'm 5'7 so I'm not that tall but my upper body is and my arms are long so it's difficult to get shirts that fit unless I buy men's clothes!
    Seeing these films have given me hope! I still do a lot of sewing, so if I can get pattern's that fit it again it will be wonderful!

    Thank you Glenda and Kimberly! You made it look so easy! I’m definitely going to do this! Question - you mentioned the grains and the stretch ability, I’m obsessed with quilting cotton so I think this will be perfect for customizing the fit! Thank you Glenda!

    Q.Thank you Glenda for making all of the videos, I’ve made myself a few items of clothing, I feel I want a more polished finish ,I have you shirt kit and trouser kit,I’m just about to start a top,I have made a copy first,I’ve made several adjustments,and cut out in a waist materiel, I will have to have a few more fittings, I’d like some advise about a serger, I’ve not used one just seen them used on you tube,I’m shortsighted, I was wondering what the threading up on them is like,I have two sewing machines,my latest threads the needle,cauldron you give me any advice on one to buy,I want my cloths to have a finished look, Teresa

    • @surefitdesigns
      @surefitdesigns  2 года назад +1

      @peter lilley - You are most welcome...more to come. As for self-threading sergers, I bought an 'Air threading' process made by BabyLock. I too have very poor vision (far sighted) and needed help in threading the serger. I also have a very basic Brother serger - #5234PRW - even though it isn't an air threader, it's one of the easier ones to thread. Look around and test them before you buy.

      Q,thank you Glenda for suggesting some sergers, I wouldn’t know where to go my husband always drives me, it goes to show you can enjoy dressmaking’ even when you have poor eyesight thank you teresa

    Hi if the fabric stretches a lot do u need to do something so the stitching does not pucker

    • @surefitdesigns
      @surefitdesigns  4 года назад

      Perhaps the zipper you are using is too heavy and stiff for the garment fabric. It's also possible that the machine tension is not even and that is pulling the zipper up. But I suspect that the weight of zipper is not compatible with the garment fabric.

    While I have a normal sized body for most off the shelf clothes, I have a sway back, narrow shoulders, wide chest, and really long legs and arms. So no arms or legs fit me. So the upper arms are too tight, the wrist is too narrow, and the thighs are tapered but my tapers are longer, and the knees do not land in the right spot. I am almost 6 feet tall, but my torso is not in proportion. So, I always wear loose fitting clothes even when I was skinny (age has its own problems). This may be what I need.
