@@Author_Alyssa_Taylor I remember Gene Hackman talking about how hard he found it to take his role in Superman seriously, acting against this guy wearing tights. Maybe not exactly the same, but I thought he did it brilliantly when the pump was on the other foot.
Nathan Lane won 3 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program - Timon & Pumbaa: Season 1 for playing Timon, Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program - Teacher's Pet for playing Spot/Scott and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series - Only Murders in the Building: The Boy from 6B for playing Teddy Dimas.
It's hard to be a comedian and keep your pop culture references current without sounding lame, while avoiding pop culture jokes from decades ago. Somehow, Nathan Lane pulls this off!
I can't help but imagine him backstage in full Birdcage level neuroticism 😂 despite talking about the play so eloquently and calmly with Colbert, lol. Also, he just seems like the absolute sweetest man alive. He's a national treasure, for sure.
Hello there how are you doing, I was just going through my RUclips page and came across your beautiful comment so I decided to write you back hope you don't mind🌹💓💞❣️❣️

Nathan Lane is so underrated in Hollywood, shame. It's so awesome every genre. My favorite actors all time. The Birdcage, Mousehunt, Franky and Johnny, Guys and Dolls, Love valor compassion, The Producers, Addams familly, The Frogs, Modern Familly, American Story people v oj Simpson, The Good Wife, The Front Page 👏, November, Angels in America (masterpiece♥), or Penny dreadful City of angels (best rôle in TV). Recently Only Murders In The Building and The Gilded Age. And soon Beau is Afraid with Joaquin Phoenix.
That’s amazing, I grew up in Carmel, CA and since I loved away I have never heard anyone-in 30 years-mention the swallows of Capistrano. Any SoCal kids remember doing the class project on the California Missions?!
I've always loved Nathan's acting, he brings gusto to his roles. But his quick wit and humor in this interview was wonderful. Going to look for more interviews with him
Just got back from a week in NYC. I encourage everybody to go. I saw four shows, all well worth it, and I attended a global music fest, an NBA game, a taping of Late Night with Seth Meyers, and visited MOMA, the Guggenheim, and the Whitney, all in six days. Use the half price ticket booth and save money. Go! I stayed at an Airbnb in midtown and walked everywhere. 116,000 steps! (About 110 kms). New Yorkers are so friendly! Really. And very hospitable. Even at the Knicks game when I was wearing a Raptors shirt, the staff and the public was friendly.
Nathan Lane comes PREPARED to every interview and that professionalism pays off every time. I watched several of his virtual appearances on various shows during lockdown and he somehow made those work brilliantly, too. What a treasure.

Nathan Lane is a wonderful treasure. He is a true New Yorker and a pillar of Broadway, to the extent that is even a place any more. But NL is a special treasure. I hope he never stops his love of performing. I love him so.
I Love Love Love Nathan Lane. I got to see him in the 90's in Guys and Dolls Outstanding would be a insult . Unforgettably Perfect production . He always get me laughing I live on west coast we don't get season Broadway actors . I envy new york I hope it comes back with roar .
Not to hurry anything, but post-Angela Landsbury, Nathan Lane has ascended to the highest living Broadway royalty. May he reign for many decades. All hail.
I'll never forget Nathan's role in the Birdcage. Especially his John Wayne's walk. Priceless!
With the hat! And Robin Williams said, "nice touch".
And Robin Williams says something to the effect, "you know, I think that is actually how he walked!"
Bibi -- Dead on what I was thinking. And Gene Hackman at the end in drag and (for a change) seeming so vulnerable!
For me, it's The Producers when he was the "Stable Boy" and took milk maid's milk.

This man is a national treasure and in this house, we respect the king of all Broadway!
I don't watch a lot of celebrity interviews but Nathan Lane is a must-see for me. He is amazing.
A ha Ahauauahgag
Me too. I couldn't resist watching this one.
I thought the exact same thing!! Nice!
I always watch out for his interviews
Me too!
He was great in "Only Murders in the Building". I love the quick wit of Nathan Lane... similar to that of Martin Short.
I could listen to Nathan Lane all day. He should do a podcast.
Don’t you just love Nathan Lane ❤❤❤
Yes! I do!
Indeed I do!
My bucket list. Is to be on Stephen Colbert Show. And to meet Nathan Lane. Loved him in The Producers.
Oh I giggle!
It usually sounds so snooty when one human calls another "a treasure" but that Nathan Lang! That's what he is, an absolute treasure!

I love Nathan, and I’m so glad he’s back on Broadway!
He is so intelligent. So many actors today can’t form complete sentences unless scripted. He is a classic.
I've said it before but idc: Nathan Lane is a national treasure.

yes, so true!
Couldn't agree more! Except… Who is Nathan Lane?
Then I’m glad I’m old. And understand the Jar-El reference and Marlon Brando playing him 😂
The best. So underrated in Hollywood. Shame.

Oh shoot. Of course. Excepylt⁰
Nathan Lane wfould end up humamizing Santos in a way he doesn't deserve.
Nathan Lane is, and has always been, absolutely hysterical! Love him and his humor!
Nathan Lane is a gift. 💜
woa, steven interviewing his self in 10 years was fun.
Adore you Nathan Lane ❤
Nathan Lane never disappoints. He brings a level of talent to all he says and does. One seldom sees a more laudable entertainer these days.
Always a delight to see Nathan
I never realized how much of Albert "Cole d'isle au man" WAS Nathan Lane! No acting. It was 100% him. Love him.
I love it when guests give kudos to the band, well done Nathan! (plus his other awards and genuine "excellentness"
Nathan Lane, one of the funniest humans on earth.
I can always watch The Bird Cage over again.

National Treasure: Nathan Lane. There will never be another.😊
I caught some of Nathan Lane's high school plays back in the day but sadly missed Arsenic and Old Lace.
Nathan Lane looks like Stephen Colbert's dad.
Even the way he moves
He’s only 9 years older
@@rob.berliner 😂😂
Nathan Lane is friggin hilarious.
All anyone asked you to do, was your best, and you've done that. Thank you Nathan Lane wig or no wig.
In the nicest way...he and Rosie look related.

Nathan looks like how an older Stephen Colbert might look like.
Was looking for this comment because I didn't want to be a copy cat. But yes they definitely have some favoring features.

Nathan Lane is so out of pocket I love it! Can he host the Daily show for a bit?
i love nathan lane!!!
Now I know who's going to portray Bill Barr, if they ever make a movie about his life.
My thought as well
It's Phil Donahue! And then The Character Actor's Pose!" Nathan Lane is the Energizer Bunny of Broadway. More Power to him!
Lane is beautiful - his singing in hakuna matata got an Oscar for best song. His comedy here made my family laugh. I was in tears.
Much love to Nathan Lane, he is such a great actor and comedian ♥️😂😂😂😂

I am absolutely in love with Nahan Lane!
I love this man...a true performer
I absolutely adore Nathan Lane. His timing, facial expressions, humor, warmth, and down to earth personality is so endearing.
I love him and one of my favorites is Mousetrap.
Love Nathan Lane. This audience was a bit of a wet blanket
I love Nathan Lane. I hope he does another movie. Those expressive eyebrows!
Yep, just like Stephen's brows. They sale the act indeed.

I would _love_ to see Nathan cast as Jor-El! 🦸

LOL - right when they show the picture... youtube goes to commerical...
jeez. i only hear Timon. He's such a treat. Love him.
All I can hear is Nathan Detroit and Timon talking to each other while Stephen Colbert struggles to get a word in edge-wise.
An f'n Legend! Capital L ❤️
Nathan always Produces the goods.
It’s not often we see Colbert overshadowed by such a powerhouse personality 😂
