The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is the premier late night talk show on CBS, airing at 11:35pm EST, streaming online via Paramount+, and delivered to the International Space Station on a USB drive taped to a weather balloon. Every night, viewers can expect: Comedy, humor, funny moments, witty interviews, celebrities, famous people, movie stars, bits, humorous celebrities doing bits, funny celebs, big group photos of every star from Hollywood, even the reclusive ones, plus also jokes.
The fact that Stephen barely said a word but I was glued to this interview throughout shows you what a fantastic personality Nathan Lane truly is.
Stephen is a great interviewer in that way. He knows when to be quiet and let the guest shine. Best example is the interview with Kevin Smith a couple years ago. Stephen says probably 25 words in the whole clip.
Nathan Lane's high top running shoes!
Ditto, Angel. Saw your name and we are similar! Same initials!!!
He’s one of the sweetest, isn’t he?!
And now I’ve watched more and he’s got everyone in stitches and Stephen gasping for breath!
Brilliantly and effortlessly funny.
🇳🇿🇳🇿🐑🐑 cheers from Christchurch New Zealand
@@annemacleod1421 I guess that means you won’t have to change your signature when we get married. Haha.
@@Sentient_Zee Funny!! But yes!
Nathan doesn't just show up... He participates! Nobody tells a story, a one-liner or a burn, quite like Mr. Lane.
Yes! Anything with Nathan Lane is worth watching!
Except the great Robin Williams. Was thinking the exact same thing.
The man is the most underrated actor in Hollywood, but at least they recognize him on Broadway.
@@Evehawk87 It was a dream come true when they were cast in The Bird Cage. I love Robin Williams with all my heart. From the time Mork appeared on camera, I was done🥰🤗🤣🤩
Martin Short nails this as well. But I always know I'm going to enjoy the interview with Lane or Short are on
"Keeping the comedy light in the window for all of us as democracy goes down the drain" - Nathan is the best!
"Being a shut-in with a mood disorder means something again." I said something very much like this yesterday to my therapist. I feel so validated.
We introverts and germaphobes had a very very brief time of peace. No one was obligated to socialize, everyone was mandated to stay clean. Now everything goes back to "Normal" again, which is an extrovert's world.
Im a bit of a hermit ...this lockdown business didn't bother me much at all.
Reading "comments " is quite entertaining...and sometimes reminds me of Why I'm a hermit.
I hope you have a good day. Hang in there.

@@hittingyouoverthehead I will never force anyone to socialize, but as an extrovert, I'm very glad this (to me and all my friends, including the introverts) this was a living hell. We *all* missed our anime conventions, goofy cosplay fun, yes even my introvert friends. I and my extrovert fans also desperately missed my free hugs and headpats and making tons of new friends at every con and I am very very very happy it's all back~
And again, I'll never force anyone to socialize or hug or anything lol. But I very very very happy I can free hug all my fellow weebs again and be crazy at cons and be myself again ❤
@@ukeyaoitrash2618 I'm happy that you can be yourself again. For some of us, this was the only time we could be ourselves. Now we have to go back to pretending to like loud social gatherings and nervous encounters with strangers because that's the "normal". We can no longer be ourselves because like it always has been the case, being ourselves will be considered weird and awkward again.
Whenever I see Nathan Lane as a guest I do not even hesitate. He is Broadway gold and a Talk Show hosts dream. The quote from Anne Bancroft melted my heart.
One of the most underrated comedic actors of all time! Speaking of Mel Brooks, Nathan was phenomenal in the remake of The Producers.
Yes! That's my favorite version 🖤
If anyone could fill Zero's shoes, it would be Nathan Lane. :D
"...and then I imagine them picking up the cash on the dresser that I left for them." Hot damn, tremendous walk to that punchline, so worth it.
I assume Nathan is here to promote the Seth Meyer's penned Broadway play, "Cicada, Cicada". Its got a powerhouse cast, so I am sure its amazing.
Fortunately, he doesn't even have to mention it by name. The effervescence of his personality alone is promotion enough of the soon-to-be American classic that is "Cicada, Cicada".
I really hope that Nathan Lane goes on Seth's show to talk about his epic role in "Cicada, Cicada." I need to see that!
I'd love if they'd do a bit about Cicada, Cicada.
and he can do whatever the fuck he wants
Yes and bring Christine Baranski too!!
I wish Nathan had won an Oscar for The Birdcage. He was absolutely incredible. Different time I guess, wasn't appreciated then.
He was magnificent in Birdcage
Also Williams...
The original version was also superb.
I agree! One of my favorite movies. 🍿 🎥
Should have won it for Mouse hunt
Nathan Lane brings up a great point. Watching Stephen Colbert flirt with his wife was the cutest thing of the pandemic.
I never watched the show until last year, and was hooked. SUCH a great couple. I hope they rerun those shows, he did it better than most
There were days when I could barely handle my impatience for _A Late Show_ to show up on RUclips
If I see Nathan Lane or Martin Short as a talk show guest, I'm clicking play immediately
Same. And I make sure I don't eat OR drink while I'm watching, because they've both choking hazards. How luck are we that they both did late night interviews this week?
I so want to see them do an interview together.
He is like watching a modern day vaudevillian. He has that style and speed to his humor.
was just thinking the same thing. that kind of talent is so rare these days. i MISS IT!!! nathan is a goddamn national treasure.
Nathan sharing the Evie appreciation and the Jon Batiste appreciation warms my heart oh my, he gets us
And he's an exceptionally gracious guest.
God bless Nathan Lane. In the span of five minutes I laughed and I cried and I experienced catharsis. He is a gem.
And at least 3 voice impressions!
Nathan Lane is just a breath of fresh air. One of the best personalities to have!
I haven't laughed at an interview in such a along time, LEGENDS both of them
'My heart flutters whenever I hear his key turning in the door, and I think to myself,Oh goody, the party is about to begin.' -- Anne Bancroft re: her husband Mel Brooks
Watch Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft dancing and singing in Polish to "Sweet Georgia Brown."
that sure was the sweetest thing ive heard in a long time!
That one got to me as well, it is such a beautiful sentiment. Their relationship was such a deep love.
@@Ma_Ba I know! It was perfect❤️🇨🇦❤️
@@richmoves Not gonna lie, I was scared we were going to lose him soon after due to broken heart syndrome.
“Now I can be dead inside OUTSIDE!” 😂😂
Well done, Nathan Lane, well done. 💌
"Now I can be dead inside, outside!".
Fucking nailed it
"Now I can be dead inside, OUTSIDE."
- Nathan Lane 2021
I want this printed on a t-shirt to wear everytime I go outside
So many great ones. Going to need to see it again once I get up off the floor!
I'll order 10 of those T-shirts please. All in heather gray.
good idea!!!
I'm not even American but I will declare it for ye: Nathan Lane is a national treasure
Hey boss we already know! ✊
Non-Yank here also, and he’s both a US national treasure and an international legend!
Hahaha I just said the exact same thing!
You misspelled "intergalactic treasure"
International treasure
His humor is just like Martin Short and Steve Martin. He just doesn't stop with the zingers!
When Nathan Lane talks especially when he gets like over excited all I hear is Timon lol
I always picture Timon when I hear him.
What a treat. The thought of Nathan Lane watching Colbert with the rest of us to stay sane whilst we were all at home - what a year.
All just humans at the end of the day, eh?
I'm making my daughters watch The Birdcage with me for Father's Day. I love Mr. Nathan Lane! Very few are as fabulous as he.
I love that movie.
Nathan Lane is a national treasure. One of the greatest lines ever delivered was "ohh, I pierced the toast" 🤣. "The mighty and horny cicada", we need to preserve his brain.
Nathan Lane is an AMAZING artist, I love his personality, the way he acts, the drama...is just amazing, love him to bits
"...a young Carol Channing...DOWN SIMBA!" ROFLMAO!!! OMG tears in my eyes
I'm in tears hearing Nathan Lane tell his Ed Sullivan story!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I can't believe Nathan Lane was able to spare the time while hes so busy preparing for 'Cicada Cicada'
Correction Jackal??
Thank you Nathan for bringing us laughters in heartwarming ways! God bless you with good health. Thanks Mr. Colbert, you have been a pillar of constancy on the airwaves!
The beautiful human that is Nathan Lane! ♥️🤗🤩💖
Nathan Lane is also a Jewel in the Crown of Humanity. What a National Treasure. The first time he grabbed his Coffee Mug I thought he was going to do a Spit-take. He could do a One Man Show about his life and career and be sold out for years. Amazing.
He mentioned the cicada!! No doubt an allusion to his casting in "Cicada, Cicada"!!😁😁😂😂😂🤞🤞
The world has needed new Nathan Lane interviews - thank you!!
I just watched the birdcage for the first time, what an amazing film that was. truly a treasure... Glad the folks suggested it.
nathan lane’s one man reenactment of the ed sullivan show needs to be on broadway yesterday
RIGHT
Nathan Lane (my crush). I love him so much. Is so Underrated in Hollywood (Always now), movie or tv show, shame Hollywood, shame.
Fantastic actor, he's so awesome in every genre he plays : The Birdcage, Mousehunt, Guys And Dolls, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Love! Valour!Compassion!, The Lisbon Traviata, Odd Couple, The Producers, The Iceman Cometh, The Nance (❤️), Angels in America (👏👏), The Good Wife, American Crime Story or Penny Dreadful City of Angels (One of it's best role on TV).
Oh my god, he was killing me. But Nathan never disappoints
Nathan should be gilded and protected as a National Treasure by Nicholas Cage.
I love Nathan lane ,he makes me laugh and cry
So much happening in this interview, from the fact that Nathan basically conducted it himself, to the tiny detail of how in sync Stephen is with the band (/Jon Batiste) that he could signal a drumroll from them with such a small motion.
I'm here for all of it
Carol Channing as the White Queen in the made for TV Alice in Wonderland limited series in the early 80s = priceless. Equally priceless, Nathan Lane.
Imagine having Nathan over for dinner!! Amazing
Bravo having Nathan on this first week back. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Good gracious that man can tell a story! What a treasure
Smashed like before I even watched. Nathan Lane is always wonderful!
"Now I can be dead inside outside." -- Nathan Lane
That spoke to my soul
I’ve never heard a story told more masterfully!!! 🤣😂🤣😂
“.....diamonds are a girl’s best friend.”
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Nathan Lane is a treasure
Amazing interview! Nathan Lane! Nathan captured everything we’ve all gone through.
So glad to see Lane back with perfect stage presence and one liners, this was great.
I love this show and Nathan is absolutely awesome. I am from Kenya and Stephen is the best host.
I am Kenyan too and agree 100%
Watched this clip 3 times just for that Chris Christie joke at the beginning. Woooo! That one took me out!!! LMAO :) Nathan Lane is top notch!!
Nathan Lane, absolutely brilliant - every time.
Love Nathan Lane❤️❤️❤️
Nathan is an absolute legend
What a delight. Good choices of the first week.
Can I just say, as much as I loved “A Late Show”, I missed Steven’s perfectly tailored suits!
Mr. Lane is a beautiful and brilliant human. Bless him
So love you nathan lane!
Ya gotta love Nathan Lane.
I still watch Mousehunt and Modern Family to this day!!
Yah gotta see birdcage! Him and robin williams nailed it!
I just love Nathan! Wonderful actor, hilarious comedian, just amazing person!
I JUST LOVE HIM ❤️❤️

...........
but diamonds are a girls best friend."
haha awesome
he's great!
Back Simba! Back!!
Ahhh the joy of live television
Good job letting him talk Mr Colbert. Ty
I can not believe how much I LOVE Nathan Lane.
Listening to Nathan Lane mention Cicadas, Seth Meyers is crying into a glass of bourbon somewhere.
Well, I'm sure Seth would want a big name for Cicada, Cicada
I love Nathan Lane!!!
Nathan Lane is hilarious!
I agree. And he out-did himself tonight. 😂
He's so full of life, he should be awarded for this interview alone!
These celebrities are loving the live audiences and we are loving them right back
Nathan and Stephen are treasures.
The consummate performer. Always entertaining.
Was the walkout music always this energetic in the before times? The band seems to pulling out all the stops!
Probably not, but who cares?
Nathan is not so wrong about the audience in the shower 😂
I'm delighted to know that Nathan Lane ships Stephen and Evie just as much as the rest of us.
Nathan Lane was the absolute perfect choice to bring the FLAIR back to the live theatre. What a treasure. My face hurts from smiling.
Having you back where you belong is proof that hell is over.
That Faye Dunaway joke! My GOD! You know it's good when Stephen almost cracks up!
Was Stephen tearing up with laughing eyes at Ed Sullivan Show tall tale reference to Faye Dunaway ?
Ya, that's what I thought, too!🥲
“So nice to have you back where you belong” so disappointed in Nathan Lane for not singing Hello Stephen to Hello Dolly 😢😂
Were there other musical lyrics I missed?
Apart from his role in Cicada Cicada by Seth Meyers 😂
My goodness....I could laugh with him all day! Incomparable!!!
Viewing the audience this way, since 01' Bellevue High Theater : thank you Mr. KLINE your the man among men. Nathan is a master. Great mention.
Nathan Lane. Class act allll the way. The Jewl of Broadway! LOVE HIM!!!
A dialogue of Titans.... Almost 2 monologues in tango....Great to be among the Greatest... They even look alike.... Lot of love 💖
he's so lovely and funny :) And I'm usually not a fan of mustaches... but it looks nice on him...
what a delightful man
My God, does Nathan have a writing staff???
I just adore Nathan Lane!
Nathan says everything we all want to say to them. Thank you Nathan!
Love, Love, LOVE Nathan Lane!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😎❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😎
Lions and tigers and bears! Oh my! ❤️🇨🇦❤️
I love Nathan Lane. He was higher then trumps comb over.
How could you tell? He’s always acts like that and I love he uses references from long ago.
@@Dharmarenee , true enough, I don’t really know.
Nathan Lane is a hoot. Makes me want to watch "The Birdcage". I also love that Stephen allows Nathan to shine rather that trying to upstage his comedy. It was so sweet that Nathan had a lovely comment regarding Evie and was thoughtful enough to congratulate Jon.
His rendition of Carol Channing 😂
Nathan Lane is also two-time Emmy Award-winner too. He won 2 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for playing Timon un Timon & Pumbaa (TV series) and Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for playing Spot/Scott in Teacher's Pet (TV series).
I imagine going to a great party with Nathan Lane and spitting champagne through my nose...and ears!
He is fabulous.
