Applause after applause. You can definitely tell that the audience wanted to be back to the Ed Sullivan Theater. It's so nice to see this set up again.
I think the previous format works better for RUclips. Ed Sullivan theatre is better live and TV. That closet format could be the future though. Way more personal and real. I don’t think the controlled applause is necessary any longer. Fake.
Every wife deserves a husband who loves and supports her as much as Stephen does Evie, and every husband should have a wife who loves and supports him as much as Evie does Stephen.
In an age where it seems so many marriages are breaking down, it's so warm and refreshing to see Evie and Stephen in a strong and loving relationship. It's truly wonderful.
It really is! I love seeing long time married couples that still like each other. It’s not the same when you see the ones that are in it like a life long prison sentence that they are stuck with. Biding time till they die.
Was waiting for this!!!!!! I am here in NY and wanted to go over there just to feel the energy. New York is back baby!!! Stephen never looked better and Evie is beautiful.
I got a little misty when he came out to a live studio audience. Evie is adorable. The way he looks at her is everything one wants to have in a partner. So much love there. #SuckItLionking :-D
I’m both thrilled and close to tears. The cheers of the crowd were almost as great as just hearing Evie laughing in the background. She needs to be on the show every now and then. Stay Human instead of stay homin
I started tearing up when he grabbed the woman from the audience and danced. You don't realize how much human interaction has been missed until you see it and know what it MEANS and how we were able to get to that moment. What a moment!!!
I am always SO delighted every time we see Evie. Honestly, they're the most adorable couple and her face just exudes pure delight with each smile or laugh.
I love this, but it feels so strange...It feels like watching an old video. I'll admit though, seeing Stephen this happy and energetic, seeing the band again, having Evie as part of the show, having the audience there to react, it's a testament to the fact that the show has survived this all and is thriving!!! Best wishes Stephen, you deserve it. P.S. Please keep Evie on, even just a little bit! Have a reaction camera for her, if she's willing. She's a real gem to have on the show!
I saw Ms. Evie on the thumbnail and I immediately pressed play. She’s been an absolute delight during ‘A Late Show’, and I hope Stephen and the producers have her on for future skits. Thanks for all the giggles, laughs, and sweet smiles, Ms. Evie. We’ll miss you. 💙😘
Stephen has always been funny, but never has he felt more genuine than when trying to make Evie laugh. I hope she sticks around. She truly brings the magic out of Stephen.
Stephen is so on, so thrilled to be back, doing a job he truly loves. With the one he truly loves, the ever effervescent Evie Colbert. Stephen defines "Smitten."
The energy is just bursting from the seams here 😍😍😍 I started watching Stephen Colbert over lockdown here in the UK (my first video of him was his monologue about the Capitol riot) and I thought "here is a man who is saying what I'm thinking in such a thoughtful, earnest, and honest way" and I've been a fan ever since 😍
I loved his shiver when Jon Batiste played a piano chord for emphasis; that was the moment that he truly appeared to feel "back". It's a moment that puts a smile on my face every time I think about it! Stephen Colbert was reacting in real time to a tiny detail that had been missing for 15 months, and he hadn't really realized how much he missed it. ❤️
this was beautiful to hear that audience & Evie has been a wonderful wife & audience member on her own over the 15 months as I will miss that as much as I will enjoy a full Ed Sullivan Theater once again 😭👏🎊💙
Yes, it hits worse. Miss the show without audience. American audiences are just way too hyperactive and annoying. My European ears hate this fake laughter and loud noises 😒
This is a sour and sweet moment for me... to see Colbert back in the studio while I mourn my father who passed away yesterday from covid. Lets please take a second to remember the ones we lost during this horrible pandemic.
What he terribly missed and now very much enjoys is not so much the dancing, but the live audience, the band and the human contact. The past vax-scenes were animations which he pretended to interact with in a little room in total silence. The public's energy is what all comedians and performers charge and motivate themselves with, and their joy, along with the unmistakable sound of live music, and the warmth of bodily contact with other human beings after well over a year of isolation is so refreshing, it ends up galvanizing Stephen and us as well, as he beams these near-hertbreaking feelings even through the screen all the way around the world. It sure is wonderful to have him back! Can 't wait for Jon's interview to go live....
This is like homecoming! And, I teared up when Steven's wife came out and I don't know why! She is fabulous! Welcome back Stephen we missed you so much!!
I want to add a huge round of applause for Jon Baptise for that number that he performed tonight. It was fabulous! I am a Detroiter and I can tell you that it was like watching the first big number performed by Motown s Marvin Gaye! He more than outdid himself tonight. Loved it! Thank you, Jon.
Ya, but we really need this kind of stuff happening. I mean the pandemic did a number on the psyche of the US (and the entire world) and things like this and sports (of which I am not a fan) are sorely needed to keep moral up. W/O people go crazy and act out as we've been witnessing much too often as of late.
Evie, omg has the best laugh, chuckle, gorgeous giggle, made Stephen from home soooo good ...I did love Stephen from home, especially his bath episode..hahaha.
I adore that woman and will miss seeing her on his show. She needs to use her new-found fame for good. Become a spokesperson for a beloved charity and raise money. Or write a series of children's books and go on speaking tours. She would draw huge crowds. 👍😊
I almost spit my tea out (or choked on it) at the line about the Queen watching the Oprah interview. The whole monologue was brilliant. I loved the first piano tinkle by Jon when Stephen handed off the first make-believe prop. Funny how you miss little stuff like that. So good to see Jon and the band live just a few feet away from the host. The Vax Scene scene was hilarious and the dance with the lady in the audience so joyful. Welcome back!

Maybe he can do a one year anniversary at home?
@@davidthedeaf It may serve a good reminder. We must always remain ever vigilant in the field of virology.
Hearing Evie laugh was really one of the best things. It just made things feel more connected - always nice to hear someone laugh with you, and it gave us a glimpse into the internal Colbert dynamic. Good stuff
it wasn't his house, it was a room in the basement of the ed sullivan theater. only like the first month he did at home.
i wonder how they changed a basement into a set
Making my whole day rn...though admittedly I’ll miss the old show in a weird way
So true
I couldn't have put it any better
Me too lol 😏
Nooooooooooooooo!
Me too. Kinda cozy...☺
Remember when he was at home, and His boys did all the camera work, and Evie was his audience. I loved that.
Yeah. 'Twas the best. I plan on rewatching that whole era.
and Benny would run the risk of chewing the wires if he got in.
Loved hearing her laughing from off camera. Best sound.
Evie laughing at his jokes was adorable 🥰
@@vanessahanns3211 Yes! Evie is so very lovely! Love ❤
Evie is a true partner and the absolute love of that man's life.
When he looked at her for forever when she joined him. So sweet.
I’d been looking forward to Stephen being able to bask in a crowd again. He deserves that after all he’s helped to get us through.
Amen to that..it has been a trip..
Beautifully worded! Agree 100% Whatever makes Stephen happy, he uplifts us so much.
He got me through the last five years each night. Love the other guys but Stephen is the man.
ruclips.net/video/EQ8qftIqOT0/видео.html ..
The crowd chanting “Evie” cures my depression.
“Don’t forget to laugh because he really needs it” 😭😭😭
Applause after applause. You can definitely tell that the audience wanted to be back to the Ed Sullivan Theater. It's so nice to see this set up again.
I'm so not used to it. It annoyed me. I had to back out. I'll watch it later.
I think the previous format works better for RUclips. Ed Sullivan theatre is better live and TV. That closet format could be the future though. Way more personal and real. I don’t think the controlled applause is necessary any longer. Fake.
YES!
That was so good!
It's also pretty impressive considering that inner ear thing that he's got that messes with his balance
Every wife deserves a husband who loves and supports her as much as Stephen does Evie, and every husband should have a wife who loves and supports him as much as Evie does Stephen.
100th like
In an age where it seems so many marriages are breaking down, it's so warm and refreshing to see Evie and Stephen in a strong and loving relationship. It's truly wonderful.
It really is! I love seeing long time married couples that still like each other. It’s not the same when you see the ones that are in it like a life long prison sentence that they are stuck with. Biding time till they die.
Well said!
@@dontmindme633 That's so weird to me.
If you're not happy, get a divorce and try again. You're not actually imprisoned in a relationship.
These two are truly in love. He puts Evie on a pedestal and smiles wider each time he sees her. I hope I get something like that in my life.
Evie: I'm not working so I'll just come to watch you work.
Stephen: Umm...yea... that sounds great honey. 🥴
For all these months, Evie Colbert was all of us. Glad to see her support acknowledged during the big return.
I was so happy that the crowd got hyped for Evie, she's honestly the sweetest person
That’s when I realized just how funny Colbert is. If you can constantly make me laugh from a small storage room for a year and half, you have a gift.
This man got us through the last fifteen months. So glad he’s home.
I just don't know how I could have made it through that nightmare, both COVID and the former guy's last gasps, without Stephen.
@@acidtreat101 in comparison covid was SIMPLER than the SIMPLETON (trump)
*Points to John Oliver* He helped too!
@@wayneigoe6722 YES JOHN! We got him!
I'll be darned, Stephen does fit in that suit.
Proud of him!
He bought new ones!!
New suit
Had my fingers crossed😇
He said it's a new suit.
Was waiting for this!!!!!! I am here in NY and wanted to go over there just to feel the energy. New York is back baby!!! Stephen never looked better and Evie is beautiful.
I could feel the audience’s energy!
She’s gorgeous.
Loved the home format then the delightful foursome and now, back to the big show!! Just love the whole trip !!! Yay!!!
ruclips.net/video/EQ8qftIqOT0/видео.html ..
I really hope that Evie makes some more appearances. We all really love her.
Father's Day is Sunday so maybe she will do a First Drafts? Fingers crossed.
@@amyreynolds3619 that would be awesome
I truly hate talk shows but it’s great to see Colbert so overtly joyous to be in front of an audience again. He’s a true showman.
That ending was genuinely heart-warming. Nice to see THE Late Show return
Evie looks STUNNING. She is just glowing with beauty!
And looks like she hit the gym during pandemic. Check out them gunz
This is all so wholesome; you can see the joy of returning to the theater just radiating out of Stephen. Made my day to see this.
Such a cathartic feeling
I started tearing up when he grabbed the woman from the audience and danced. You don't realize how much human interaction has been missed until you see it and know what it MEANS and how we were able to get to that moment. What a moment!!!
She was so delighted! I would have been, too.
Same 😭😭😭😭
That was exactly my reaction!
Yeah
Same! It sounds goofy but I teared up at seeing the audience and the applause.
I am always SO delighted every time we see Evie. Honestly, they're the most adorable couple and her face just exudes pure delight with each smile or laugh.
I got giddy when Evie came out. God I love that woman!!
havta admit... me too
me too!
same!
Saaaaame
I love this, but it feels so strange...It feels like watching an old video.
I'll admit though, seeing Stephen this happy and energetic, seeing the band again, having Evie as part of the show, having the audience there to react, it's a testament to the fact that the show has survived this all and is thriving!!! Best wishes Stephen, you deserve it.
P.S. Please keep Evie on, even just a little bit! Have a reaction camera for her, if she's willing. She's a real gem to have on the show!
I love how much he truly loves his wife.
I thought the same I think trying to make his wife laugh made him better and better 😍

Plus, they’re just so adorable together!
He’s so happy and he looks great and I’m so happy live audience is back. Evie is GORGEOUS
My wife thought she was a star...
:)
Someone tell us what made him so fortunate to have found, woo'd and won that wonderful woman!!
Stephen is so on, so thrilled to be back, doing a job he truly loves.
With the one he truly loves, the ever effervescent Evie Colbert. Stephen defines "Smitten."
You can he has missed the audience so much.

The energy is just bursting from the seams here 😍😍😍 I started watching Stephen Colbert over lockdown here in the UK (my first video of him was his monologue about the Capitol riot) and I thought "here is a man who is saying what I'm thinking in such a thoughtful, earnest, and honest way" and I've been a fan ever since 😍
Thumbs up if you, too missed John playing "pling" when Stephen puts away an invisible object !
It has bothered me for a year, I never stopped noticing the noise was missing 😂💜
So good!

The audience has "the math class that won the pizza party" energy and I love it.
As a teacher, I completely agree.
🌈 I was my Geometry 📐 teacher’s pet. Everyone else was terrified of her, but she gave me a can of diet coke every day ✨
The "Teacher is out and the Sub wants to show a movie instead of the assigned work" energy
This comment has the “my life experience is high school” energy and I love it.
And I mean it in a rad way, the og comment is rad.
Stephen Colbert has been a glue for many of us through the pandemic.
I'm going to miss being able to clearly hear Evie laughing at your jokes in the background
Same 💜
ruclips.net/video/EQ8qftIqOT0/видео.html .
can we mic her regularly?!
Right?
this was beautiful to hear that audience & Evie has been a wonderful wife & audience member on her own over the 15 months as I will miss that as much as I will enjoy a full Ed Sullivan Theater once again 😭👏🎊💙
damn, it just hits differently. love to see it!
it does tho, doesn't it
Yes, it hits worse. Miss the show without audience. American audiences are just way too hyperactive and annoying. My European ears hate this fake laughter and loud noises 😒
Exactly
@@Chrisko1492 you sound like a grump
I can relate
Evie needs to be Steven's "sidekick" on the show. After seeing her as long as we have, it's not the same without her.
This is a sour and sweet moment for me... to see Colbert back in the studio while I mourn my father who passed away yesterday from covid. Lets please take a second to remember the ones we lost during this horrible pandemic.
My condolences.

I am very sorry. 🌹🌹
Dancing in the midst of 4 people dressed as syringes is clearly the most fun that Stephen has ever had with a Vax-scene intro!
I wonder if dancing around was one of the things he longed to do but couldn't do with the Vax-Scene openings while he was in that closet.
I’m HERE FOR IT!!!
Such a sexy costume - that syringe look is going to be all over the catwalks.
So THAT's what they were building up to with the Vax Scene shtick
While I will miss the Storage Room shows, this is an excellent indication that things are returning to normal.
From your mouth to God's ears.
Yes Stephen Colbert & The Late Show have *FINALLY* come out of the closet!
Normal sucks
Did not expect to start crying when Stephen started dancing with that woman in the audience but man that got me
you need to find another show that can make you laugh. he has never been funny . dont know how he got the show, must have kissed some major ass .

And he looks fantastic too!
This is great and all but I will miss his wife in the background sniggering and snorting at his best jokes.
Me too, I loved that.
Now we will resume listening to Jon B chuckling into his live mike
His wife is adorable. She is a star. 😁
Stephen definitely married up with Evie. She's his rock and kept the at home show interesting.
I adore that woman and will miss seeing her on his show. She needs to use her new-found fame for good. Become a spokesperson for a beloved charity and raise money. Or write a series of children's books and go on speaking tours. She would draw huge crowds. 👍😊
@@markmh835 I ADORE THAT WOMAN LOL
the entire show stinks and should be cancelled .
Stephen's welcome warmed my heart, but them cheering on Evie made me straight up cry
This!
O yes love Jon and his group! Amazing the way goodness just shines from him! I wish them all the best. Stephan's my hero! Peanut, Jeff Dunham's 'ceeation?' , is my hero also still though! Lol
He's so happy!!! I'm overjoyed for him xoxo
The audience is ecstatic! Charming Evie is magic xoxo
My sincere thanks to the entire, ultra-talented Late Show family for getting us through the rough times.
Love, hope, and joy to everyone, everywhere xoxo
I’m Australian, I watch Colbert only online. I’ve loved and appreciated every minute of “A Late Show”.
I was not prepared for how emotional the return to a live audience was going to be.
These last twelve months have been heart wrenching to watch from afar.
I think I speak for everyone in attendance when I say “Dayum! Evie rocks that dress!”
🔥🔥🔥
Did anyone else get a bit of grit in their eye just when he got the lady from the audience to dance with him? Just me?
Yes! But my second thought after that was « y’all better Purell your hands after! » 🤦♀️🤷♀️😅
Steady on man.
A bit? No.
He's a class act, that Colbert. Absolutely love his gracious spirit to dance w/that lady, giving her the thrill of her life!
Evie is the cutest, she needs to become a more permanent part of the show. Cute couple ❤
I rarely feel jealous... but Colbert is just my age and you can clearly see in him what a truly good woman does for a man.
Father's Day is Sunday so maybe she will do a First Drafts with him?
She should be his “sidekick!”
I thought Stephen was about to cry listening to all those fans applauding. Me too!
I've suddenly become acutely aware of my pantlessness.
LOL, yeah time to put on some pants.
Um...so have we. Oh, where to put my eyes.....
Ease back into it. Try a pair of pajama bottoms, maybe basketball shorts. It's summer, no rush. 🤣😆🤦♂️
🤣 Good one
I don't understand.....what's this pants issue....
Evie is all of our moms now. She's so lovely. And that dress!
not sure why, but I have tears in my eyes watch Colbert dancing with an audience member
You feel how crazy and rough this year apart was for ALL of us. You are human!

The Lion King joke? Awesome. Dancing in the audience with that lovely woman?? Incredible. Evie’s standing ovation with chanting her name??? PRICELESS!! ❤️
I've gotten so used to the intimacy of his show it's weird with a crowd now. I used to feel like he was entertaining me, lol

@@basilbliss7116 I feel like him and Ivy could just do like a podcast show from that office upstairs I mean I normally only get like 15 minutes at Colbert if I get any of it at all on RUclips so that doesn't seem like too much to ask someone should write that man a letter #theTrollFarmer
its strange.. it feels like we actually got to see a more real side of him during the pandemic now that we can see the difference of him in front of a crowd compared to just Evie
Crowd Stephen and Storage Closet Stephen are both contained within the same person. He seems to really enjoy performing so it’s nice to see him get to do that.
Don't forget Colbert Report Stephen!
We certainly saw him drink more. During the pandemic he was our drinking buddy and was occasionally rowdy. Now he's drinking coffee and sitting back letting Jon Stewart run around instead.
