  • This is the video about our 16-day trip to Portugal. We started our road trip in the south, in the city of Faro, and went to the north, to Porto. And here we drove all the way from the south to Monsaraz to stay at a beautiful hotel located just below Monsaraz Castle, perched on a hill. The view from the pool was spectacular, especially at night when the moon mysteriously illuminated the castle.
Monsaraz and Evora are two picturesque cities located in Portugal that offer a unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty.
Monsaraz, situated on a hilltop overlooking the Alqueva Dam and the Guadiana River, is a medieval town with well-preserved white-washed walls and narrow streets that make it feel like stepping back in time. The town is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, and fields of wheat, making it an excellent destination for those who love the countryside. Visitors can walk around the town's fortified walls and take in the views of the surrounding countryside or visit the castle, which dates back to the 14th century. The castle is now a museum that showcases the town's history, and visitors can climb up to the top of the tower for panoramic views of the region. The town also boasts several excellent restaurants that serve traditional Portuguese cuisine and offer wine tastings.
Evora, on the other hand, is a larger city and a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is known for its rich history and cultural heritage, with several ancient monuments and buildings that have been well-preserved over the centuries. The city's main attraction is the Roman Temple of Evora, which dates back to the 1st century AD and is one of the best-preserved Roman monuments in Portugal. The Cathedral of Evora, built in the 12th century, is another must-visit attraction, with its impressive Gothic architecture and stunning interior. The city is also famous for its beautiful streets lined with traditional Portuguese houses, many of which have been converted into museums or art galleries.
Both Monsaraz and Evora are great destinations for history buffs, foodies, and nature lovers alike. They offer a chance to experience Portugal's rich cultural heritage and stunning natural beauty in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're interested in exploring medieval castles, sampling traditional Portuguese cuisine, or simply enjoying the beautiful countryside, these two cities are definitely worth a visit.
