I got this a couple days ago after watching this and I looooove this game. I can't stop playing it! So cozy and low key. It's a perfect chill experience to unwind with after work. Thanks for the review!
So for upgrading fishing pole, you need friendship rank 2/3 (depending on pole) with both Leano and Reynor AND have caught enough fish. ~50 fish for the first upgrade and ~120 for the second. No one can seem to find the exact number, but when you fish you'll see a "+" or "++" when you catch a fish. Once it progresses from "+" to "++" and back to "+" that's the first level up (as far as I can tell) and then when it says "MAX" that's the next level up.
I grew up playing Harvest Moon. The games on N64 and GBA are crazy nostalgic for me. That being said I have put 100+ hours into Stardew Valley. It is the culmination of what those previous games aimed to be IMO.
Picked it up on sale based on this review. Few hours in, the fetch quest nature of it got really tiring. Talking to characters that give you a same dialogue daily and a shallow story of it all made it a chore to see what's ahead. Pacing was strange where you'd get quests to gather items in unlocked zones. Pixel art is great. But snore fest and a grind otherwise. (I got the fishing rod btw, Leano quest)
This game is also available physically on PS4, PS5 and Switch. Have wanted to try this and it keeps calling to me. Good to know its not half bad! Thanks TGS!!
Huh, I literally just bought a copy of this game. About two weeks ago, I stopped by the GameStop I frequent just to look around and lucked myself into finding a copy of this. Looking it up, it really reminded me of this other blind impulse purchase I did over a year prior, "Moonlighter". I actually thought they were by the same developer since they looked just that similar, on the surface anyway, but turns out they aren't. Needless to say, I thought it looked charming enough so I decided to get it. No idea when I'll actually get to it since it was an entirely unplanned purchase so it's not anywhere near my "play soon" schedule but it'll be sooner than later...hopefully. That's kind of been turning into a habit of mine lately. Randomly finding games I have no idea about and just buying them cause they caught enough of my attention. The aforementioned "Moonlighter", "Blue Fire", "World to the West", etc. Kind of makes me miss the older days when this was how I bought most games in general.
Do you know if they are planning on updating this game at all? Kind of hard to pull the trigger on games like this if anything isn't going to be added over time, like they do in SV. In games like this I really want a lengthy and game where I can really just let loose and go crazy.
👨🌾What's your favorite farming life sim?
Rune Factory 4
Rune factory 5. I like life Sims but I really like them to have good battle mechanics as well.

Loving this game! Very cozy and fun. Best played on handheld devices. I just wish there's house building mechanics and not just simply upgrade system
