Here's When Car Prices Will Drop Like a Stone:
Scotty looks like a GTA character who gives you sidequests.
I had a 2015 focus, what a pos
So weird that Ford didn't just install the conventional 6-speed automatic transmission from the Fusion. The Focus drove really well, got good gas mileage, was smooth and comfortable, but that dual-clutch transmission was a strange way to mess up an otherwise good car.
I've had two Focus, both with manual transmissions. Both were excellent cars. One went over 300k miles. The other I'm still driving every day with over 100k miles and plan to drive it for many more years.
Is Ford making bad cars on purpose?
I remember getting a ride in one of these cars once, with the automatic and in traffic from a stop, I could feel the clutches slipping terribly from the passenger seat. And this was a car with less than 8k miles on it. It's a shame that such a great chassis was ruined by a crap transmission.
FORD has really gone downhill with their quality over the last few years. I used to buy FORD but not any more.
The girl walking out the garage across the street: Oh gosh, he’s arguing with his invisible friend again.
Why do these car companies. Keep adding these Ultra Tech items to newer vehicles? Instead of holding onto their tried and proven engines and or Transmissions and improve upon their past successes?
Ford paid 17k, the dealers try to get away with 2k
One of the issues with the Ford Focus Transmission isn’t the actual transmission or even the clutches , but the electronic control module (TCM). This module uses a lot of electricity. If you look at the ground cable from the battery it goes to a post (looking at the engine) mounted on the back left of the engine compartment. Remove the cable from the post clean the paint off the post, reconnect, and coat cable and mounting post with dialectic grease.
Owner: "How much are you going to give me for this car?"
My 2013 Focus was back to the dealer three times before 50,000 miles. They reprogrammed it each time. The fourth time, they finally replaced the clutch system and reprogrammed. 107,000 miles now and still going strong.
Scotty, I've got the 5 speed manual focus and love it but it wouldn't be the same without the manual.
My coworker used a lawyer that had lemon law experience. He ended up getting every penny he put into the car including car payments, all maintenance costs, and even rental costs while the car was broken. Yeah he had to pay the lawyer but he only missed one day of work and he had the case closed within a month
We bought a 2014, 5 years ago and 2 clutch packs installed and reprogrammed it. Then last year the TCM failed and they were backed ordered and there were 5 of them just sitting on the lot waiting for a new TCM. I found one on my own and had it installed, it was fine after that. We can get over 40 MPG on a trip.
For Dual Clutch Transmissions is also good to use the parking brake when parking. Put the car in P and then pull the emergency brake and use that as well.
I used to have one of these and if you tried to just calmly go from 1st to 2nd the whole car would shake. If you gunned it it was smooth. Made no sense. Asked other Focus owners about this and it seems like a fairly common theme with not wanting to accelerate slowly and smoothly
