As a 52 year old Canadian songwriter dude freezing through another winter in Europe after 13 years out here, with only songs to show for it all...I feel a little less crazy when I see that I am not the only one like this. You are Great White Northern exemplars of the do or die ethos...that is easily relatable to all...although so few people really travel such a path with such commitment and longevity! You are the real deal! Respect!
I'm a fan since 84. I heard the cassette Metal on Metal and right there from the first note from Metal on Metal I was hock. I can listen to them hrs and hrs. What else can we say? 🤘 metal on Metal to Anvil 🤘
Got turned on to Anvil a year or two ago They kinda go where you want them to go in the song It’s like “I hope he scales up here” or I hope he screams here” or whatever and it’s like they know how to scratch your itch And they do it And it’s so satisfying
I saw them at Reading in 1983 and they were amazing!. They did Free As The Wind which blew me away and Lips did his dildo act which didn't go down well with the traditionalists. By that time I had already got Metallica's debut Kill Em All and the tide was turning fast. They released Forged in Fire that year which was a great record but they just couldn't keep up with the thrashers who buried them without mercy!
There were plenty of non thrash metal bands that were successful dude what even is that logic xD anvils issues with with things like bussiness and management not thrashers burying them
For the first release of the ANVIL Documentary, VH1 CLASSIC ran promos for like, 9 MONTH'S!!!! I was really looking forward to seeing it! It was a huge disappointment! I tried to listen to their Albums. I tried to get into the music of Anvil. "Metal on Metal" is pretty good. The Drive is there. Perhaps if "Mutt Lang" could've produced them, or if they had a good manager...... Maybe the right people DID, hear them & just didn't think there was enough talent to work with & cultivate, so they passed on Anvil. There's another Canadian Metal God that had the same problem. He could've been HUGE with the right support team!He has a documentary called "I AM THOR." I thought that one, was a little better.

The albums are still garbage so the documentary is all they got.
