Hi mate. Depend on your ability to pop up and generate your own speed... If your like me and a pretty average surfer you probably want a bean bag or a sweet potato those boards are super flat rockers and will have some glide with less wiggling and pumping needed and hold more speed through turns. RNF Retro still pretty good at this but with a bit more performance and a bit more wave range. Then your stepping more from a true grovel board and into a small wave performance or hybrid kind of catagory.. Seaside does a bit of everything fairly well too again not necissarily a super groveller but small to medium waves pretty good. The OG Puddle Jumper on a similar idea too but that's more short fat version of a hybrid ride where the seaside is like a bit of a performance version of a fish design. After that I see RNF Short round as more all rounders than real grovel boards. I personally love my bean bag most for grovel waves but if you have some decent skills and your waves have a bit more shape you might find it frustrating.. If your average, solid build and mushy slow waves bean bag is magic.. So basically pick how much grovel you want and how much performance your willing to sacrifice to get it in roughly this order. Bean Bag, Sweet/Baked Potato, Rnf Retro, Puddle Jumper, RNF, Short Round, Roceket redux, Quiver killer......etc etc. For me personally it's Bean bag for low down and dirty waves for pretty basic surfers. Waves upto about head high maybe a little bigger with a fish feel. RNF Retro, Seaside Same Waves but keeping a bit of hybrid shorty feel OG Puddle Jumper. Then All rounder that will surf chest to overhead but nothing too solid RNF, Short round, rocket redux, killer series. Bean Bag and OG Puddle real favourites... RNF Retro and Seaside also favourites if you want a bit more of a fish feelings.. Hope that helps. Cheers.

Have just come across this review. Thanks for the information. Just wondered if you had a recommendation for a thigh/waist high to head high board. Been thinking about a Dhd black diamond, Hytpo Krypto and a lost PJRP? Thoughts and recommendations would be appreciated 👍

Hey buddy sorry for the late reply.. Probably get roasted for this answer but honestly for that wave range I wouldn't go for any of those appart from the PJRP maybe. Really depends on your ability and waves though. If your waves are slow and fat and your as average at best as me the OG PJ or even a bean bag is probably a better bet. if your a decent surfer and your wavs are better maybe some of those other models Psycho Nitro be another good one to look at. PJRP be ok if your waves are good and you like a round tail and hypto and Black diamond for me personally the latter 3 I would start to ride at chest to head high not want that to be the max I would be looking at. Hope that helps. If you can give me a little more context on your age weight ability the waves you surf volume and boards you have riden before etc I can try to be more specific. Do you like Fish too something like the Seaside would be fun too. Our waves here and my ability mean under 2ft there arn't many short boards that get going well for me. Cheers.

@@lawson45uk better late than never and thanks for your reply. I actually started leaning towards the Rocket wide.. I weigh about 107kgs, 193cms tall, try and surf a few times a week and it's mostly beach breaks... I'm intermediate ish level with good levels of fitness. I surf a custom fish, 6'4 x 23 1/2 x 3 1/4, 47 litres. I have a cymatic 6'4 for better days so have been looking for aboard to sit between them both. Hope this all helps?! Would love to know your thoughts on glassing also for heavier/bigger guys and what you recommend 😊 thanks in advance and stay safe 🙏
