The funny thing is I come from the suburbs and I get what he’s saying. I spent 2 1/2 weeks in Paris and as amazing of an experience as it was, I realized I am not made for city life. The traffic is an absolute nightmare and if you’re in those buildings you can hear everyone and everything. It’s not for me
Dude! I’m from Providence and attended that convention Jim was talking about. It was at the Dunkin’ Donuts center and I believe they put Jim in the Biltmore hotel!
I've been to Baltimore and was surprised to hear Jim liked it. I have to agree about Boston and Providence, but the smaller towns in Maine, NH, and Vermont are beautiful.
As a New Englander, I’ve always wanted a big WWE stadium show at Fenway or Gillette Stadium, and I think eventually we will have SummerSlam since it’s now becoming a big venue event that we can hold without without fear of snow or cold in April and the Stadium has all all the shops restaurants and just general renovations that have been built inside Patriot Place in recent years. However, the traffic and parking situations for both Fenway and Gillette are nightmares. Fenway is in a little neighborhood in the city of Boston that you can really only get to via Train or the Subway, and getting there by car using 93 or 95 is useless. And Gillette is right off of Route 1 which is a two-lane highway between two interstate highways. It’s not only a pain to get there, it takes, no joke, over an hour just to leave the parking lot when an events over and another hour to get on either interstate to go home or to the airport. It’ll be worth it for me since I live in the area and know the tricks on how to get home in a relatively short manner, but like Jim said, any traveling fans would forever hate Boston and New England solely based on the traffic that is caused by our small overwhelmed roads and crammed neighborhoods in the city.
I’m from New England and love most of it but he has Providence nailed. Tiny city and all one way streets. I totally get the driving circles around a hotel if you aren’t a local.
Sad to say, you're right. I've lived here for 20 years and I still get confused, so it's not only out-of-towners who have that problem. Plus parking is beyond outrageous, especially when an event is going on downtown. It's a good-sized city, but way too many people, and WAY too many cars on the road most of the time.
I spent a few days in Charlotte a couple weeks ago. saw some awesome NASCAR stuff. I must say, that city is massive. The 485 beltway is roughly 67 miles which is much bigger than the 270 beltway around Columbus, OH. Lots of traffic everywhere. The hotel I stayed at was in the Arrowood area near Carowinds in the SW area of Charlotte. I enjoyed my stay there.
I've lived in Mass my whole life. I loathe going to Boston too. Traffic is a nightmare. I have passed on many a sporting event because the enjoyment of the game isn't worth the aggravation of the traffic, parking and Bostonian attitude.
As someone who’s from Lynn (just north of Boston), this area has a lot of great things but it can truly suck a worm as Jim puts it.. it’s all built on top of each other and it’s over crowded but each area of New England is Unique and If you look around, you’ll find something you like, whether it’s southern New England or northern New England
Boston absolutely sucks. I own a construction company, and will not take on any work in Boston. The parking, the traffic, and tense atmosphere if the city isn't worth it.
I've been in New England now for 8 years (6 were in Boston city limits) and Jim's onto what I've observed: New England does "town and country" well, but "city" isn't their strong point because everything was mostly developed prior to the automobile. The culture generally resisted the 20th century monoculture of chain stores and is still very focused on the local and regional. The 2 major cities that exist: Boston and Providence are just commuter hubs. Jim sounds like he was stuck at the Omni in Providence which is sandwiched between the arena, mall, state house and highway junctions. It's a shame because the neighborhoods that were cut off by the highway are all green and villagey. Tl; dr if you go to New England, stick to the smaller established towns.

The trick for Boston is to not drive, but take public transit. The T is pretty reliable most of the time. Which is honestly how most cities should handle it. Cars should be a second priority after public transit.
Providence Place mall. Cool place, i lived in Providence while i was in college. Bostons horse n buggy roads do suck but its very clean for its population! 👍 Great sports teams
The Providence event Jim is trying to remember the name of is Rhode Island ComicCon. They have it every year at the Rhode Island Convention Center, which is located right next door to the Dunkin' Donuts Center. In fact, the two venues are connected to each other as well as to the Westin Hotel (the one he likely stayed at) and Providence Place Mall.
Charlotte used to be a nice city with a small town feel until the influx of Northeasterners started in the mid to late 90's, right after the Bank of America merger with NCB (North Carolina Bank). That set the stage for BOA and other major banks to relocate or expand some of their operations into Charlotte once it became apparent that it wasn't necessary to be located in NYC with all of the NYC expenses. Getting an NFL franchise (Carolina Panthers) was also a harbinger of the growth to come in the area.
We here in Atlanta are still stunned that the merger of BB&T and Suntrust (Atlanta institution) resulted in Truist Bank and a relocation of the consumer side to Charlotte. Charlotte is not playing second fiddle to anyone now.
If anybody has ever been to Saskatoon Saskatchewan. It only has about 300,000 people but it’s exactly how he described Boston. It’s too small to be that big, the traffic is congested and cramped and I just get horrible claustrophobia every time I’m there.
To be fair the roads in Boston are 300 years old and based on what Jim is saying about the highway I don't think he's in Boston in like 20 years because its mostly underground now.
Boston is a a shithole. One of Boston’s biggest problems is people in or around Boston can’t deal when someone shines light showing that Boston is a shithole.
As an Charlotte (and surrounding) resident since 1996....I like hearing about it before I moved here. It was already starting to spread from small town to big city when I got here. Most people now live outside of Charlotte on the areas he mentioned. I live in Mooresville.
I can only imagine Jim being stuck in traffic in Providence, only to find out it was for Waterfire. For those unfamiliar, they light multiple bonfires on the Woonasquatucket River and an average of 50k people come to look at it. There's food vendors and little art shops as well. Being from the NYC area, I thought it was completely odd but people are obsessed by this! I have a feeling Jim wouldn't take too kindly if he was ever stuck in that traffic!
As a lifelong Rhode Islander, i know the exact hotel Jim was talking about and i can verify that its an absolute bitch to get into. I avoid downtown as much as possible because i always end up driving in circles trying to figure out where the hell I'm going and how to get there.

GPS will fail you in Boston, but the city is very compact and walkable; the T gets you anywhere you need to be. Granted, parking is expensive in Boston; the city was designed when people either walked or rode a horse. Parking near Fenway runs $60; parking at Gillette runs around $40.

The thing about Boston streets that nobody even people from Massachusetts dont point out is we have never updated the actual infrastructure. Id really like to know who thought it was a brilliant idea to just pave over the existing system built over 200 years ago and call it a day. Even new York updated their road layouts when cars were invented but not Boston.
America has become a completely car-centric society. A city like Boston predates the automobile, it's a tiny city relative to New York or Chicago, but everything is walkable. Boston has public transportation, I live and work in Boston and I haven't used my car in three weeks. San Francisco and New York are similar in that it's a more European feel. If you avoid peak traffic times, driving in Boston isn't even bad. I grew up in the suburbs, so I can understand the narrow streets freaking people out a bit, but once you get used to it it's not bad at all. The congestion is nothing compared to New York. Boston is about as expensive as New York though, which is the worst thing about it.

I had the same feelings about Boston. I'm from RI, but regularly went to Boston in the late 2000s and its like a city that needs to be erased and reset. The culture is nice and there's a sense of town pride you don't really get in Providence (anymore), but its like a 300 year old city laid out like a 300 year old city with massive modern development plopped on top of it with no where to move. If I had a magic wand, I'd keep the historical sites and the streets would be widened and get a whole new layout and new apartments would go up and just cut down on the clutter and confusing street layout. In a lot of ways Boston is like Fenway Park. They need a new park, but instead they just build on top of it and hold it together by tape until people come bursting out the sides.

I was thrown off Lansdowne Street almost 20 years ago while passing through after having a wee too much ale, so there's an achievement badge I picked up along the way, never plan on going back to that city ever again.
Charlotte does have some bad traffic in parts but coming from the Northeast I found navigating and parking to be a total breeze compared to what I'm used to. Heck you can downtown on a Saturday night and sometimes find free parking. Nothing like Philly where parking is a lot more confusing and expensive.
Baltimore was such a beautiful city years ago. Now an open sewer
I’m from Mass and lived around Providence for almost 15 years, and Jim is spot fucking on. If you drive here on a bad day, you’ll have a goddamn stroke
Baltimore has really taken a nose dive in the past few years, even the inner harbor has become kinda sketchy.
I live in Downtown Baltimore and you are correct. Especially with the squeegee kids...
Few years? Better say the entire decade.
Baltimore is a dangerous, crime-ridden, urban $hithole that has the potential to explode into riots at any given moment. It's done. Not even the inner harbor is safe any more.
@@Shin-Blade we used to have a restaurant right outside Hunt Valley and we got a lot of people just trying to get out od the city and relax a lot.

The trick for Boston is to not drive, but take public transit. The T is pretty reliable most of the time. Which is honestly how most cities should handle it. Cars should be a second priority after public transit.
Exactly. Same for pretty much any continental European major city. Public transit works great and quick.
@@drunkensailor112 Tokyo's subway is amazing
@@JackgarPrime yes. Japanese public transit in general is great
The trick for Boston is don’t go to Boston.
Went to the Dunk to watch a Friars bball game. I liked that part of town
I thought it was New England Fan Fest...
What year did he go? I’ve been to 80% of them and am kicking myself missing what ever year he went!
@@Sinstone23 Don't know. He said here it was about 7 or 8 years ago.
They say Hell is being stuck in mid town traffic forever.
Whenever wrestling comes to TD Garden or DCU Center I always go.
I'm old, I remember WWWF events at the Worcester War Memorial Auditorium, about when the Cape Cod Collesum was starting.
Exactly
Imagine Cornette frequenting Boston during the big dig!
I wonder if Jim is talking about the Omni Hotel in Providence? It can be confusing lol
Manchester NH hosts WWE every so often. Just big enough to be a “city” but that’s a stretch. Think you’d like it
As a lifelong Rhode Islander, i know the exact hotel Jim was talking about and i can verify that its an absolute bitch to get into. I avoid downtown as much as possible because i always end up driving in circles trying to figure out where the hell I'm going and how to get there.
Is it The Biltmore Hotel?
@@matttaylor9320 nah by the way he described it, its gotta be The Omni. Close proximity to the RI Convention Center and an unbelievable pain in the ass driving in that area.
As a Rhode Islander I agree Providence can be a nightmare especially if you've never driven there before and the potholes are absolutely brutal
Providence is like an Escher painting with construction
I was born in Boston, my family moved 1 town outside city limits when I was 4, as soon as I was old enough to have my own apartment I moved back to Boston ... it was fun for a 20 year old
That was New England Fan Fest in 2015 which I reunited with Corny. I live in Baltimore and the city has greatly deteriorated in the last decade...
I live in Boston, cornet is 100% correct.
No he’s not. Ptown doesn’t have fisherman vibes. It has gay vibes
Look at the meme of New York streets and Boston streets. Boston I love. I haven't left this state because of it. New York was the reason I joined the navy after high school in 2004.
Got lost in Chelsea while trying to maneuver in Boston. That was an experience

Baltimore????? one of the most dangerous cities in the country

Somebody had to give him a donation to say that trash hole is great. Outside of a few spots and Camden Yards the city over all is garbage.
@@scrappy93 same this with Boston, it's a cesspool
The first great debate on the merits of Baltimore actually happened on an early Eighties episode of "The Jeffersons." "George Jefferson", who grew up there, considers it a real party town. His visiting ex Girlfriend, who has George at gunpoint (played by Sixties era Beauty Miss Barbara McNair😘), considers the place a hole. As to my opinion? You're asking a lifelong Cleveland Browns Fan! So...😂🎤🦀🍊🍫🏈🤼♂️B.W.
Jim exactly right about Charlotte and it's surrounding towns
We need a TV series where Corny travels to major citys around the world with Brian Last controling his adventure. It would be just like An Idiot Abroad with Ricky Gervais and Karl Pilkington.
Proud Massachusetts resident here.
Boston is a fun city to walk around. Drive around? Noooo thank you!
As a New England resident, this is all 100% true. It's great up here in the summer, and then winter comes around and yes snow gets up to my crotch on a good day. Boston is great but it is impossible to get anywhere. Best restaurants in the country but it's a frozen tundra seven months out of the year.
GPS will fail you in Boston, but the city is very compact and walkable; the T gets you anywhere you need to be.
Granted, parking is expensive in Boston; the city was designed when people either walked or rode a horse.
Parking near Fenway runs $60; parking at Gillette runs around $40.
I'm from East Boston and I'm proud to be a true a Bostonian. it's not same like it use to be. Jim you got to check out the north end. that's are lil italy so many good restaurants there. there's alot of good restaurants all over Boston.

More like I love leaving Baltimore
The thing about Boston streets that nobody even people from Massachusetts dont point out is we have never updated the actual infrastructure. Id really like to know who thought it was a brilliant idea to just pave over the existing system built over 200 years ago and call it a day. Even new York updated their road layouts when cars were invented but not Boston.
as a guy who doesn't bother to learn about smartphones, he missing out on Uber and Lyft.
I'm from Charleston SC and grew up on 🦀 s. I heard Maryland has good crabs too.
Basically the same crabs. It's the crabcake that sets maryland apart.
South Weymouth and Kingston are not to bad. I actually love those areas

Damn. I love Jim.
Boston traffic isn't even remotely close to as bad as la or Atlanta
