    In the late '90s Metallica put out an album of all cover songs (Garage Inc.) - this is a cover originally by Budgie. You should check out the original to compare. Budgie was a cool 70s rock band. The whole Garage Inc. is fantastic.

      Garage Inc is great. I was kind of tired if Metallica when it came out. I don’t hate 90s Metallica but it’s different. Load is a good album just not a good Metallica album. However when garage inc came out it was different. To me it had the 80s Metallica tone applied to covers and was a completely different feel from anything they had put out since justice. In hindsight, it was sort of a break from what was a couple of decades of subpar to shitty Metallica. Not until death magnetic did I really get excited about Metallica again except when listening to old albums. The 80s stuff never gets old to me. The only thing non 80s I can say that about is garage inc

      @Mike Schwab Megadeth isn't even a band it's Dave and hired hands

    • @DC-yl4vc
      @DC-yl4vc 2 года назад

      @Mike Schwab Well that would make zero sense because 3 of the 4 Metallica members are the same since Kill em all in 81. Sure you can hire some studio musician who is good but they can't write or compose. And Metallica is the biggest band of the big four its not even a debate. Megadeth plays casinos and small venues. Metallica is still a top 5 touring act in the world.

    • @DC-yl4vc
      @DC-yl4vc 2 года назад

      @Mike Schwab They do stadium tours with other bands...they played the casino near me alone (I know because I went) Metallica played the 60k seat football stadium by themselves in my town. Both good bands, hating on Metallica because they are more successful is dumb though. Slayer is good but they only do one thing well...its a matter of opinion I suppose.

    Mommy Where is Fluffy? is the intro to The Prince which is a BADASS song. These are all cover songs by the way. thats why it may seem different than the much more complex Metallica song structures.

    You need to try the original Budgie songs. Especially "Hot as a Docker's Armpit", "You Are The Biggest Thing Since Powdered Milk", and "In for the kill". Also of course hear their original "Breadfan". They are not as well known in the US as say Black Sabbath, and Led Zepplin, but they are right up there with them in Proto Metal, Blues hard rock legends. Very Very influential band.

    Budgie were a band from Wales that Metallica (and Megadeth) were huge fans of. That band started in the late 60's (?) but played and recorded thru the 70's and 80's... they weren't commercially successful, but influenced a few artists w/ their music.
    Metallica first covered Budgie in 1987 when they recorded their song 'Crash course in brain surgery' for the 'Garage days' EP... they recorded another Budgie song 'Breadfan' around 1988 while recording the "And justice for all" album (which is why this track has no bass, but 'Crash course in brain surgery' does😂)
    From 1984 to 1991, Metallica could have recorded famous covers... but they chose more obscure artists that they were fans of. That also included covers of bands like - Diamond Head, Blitzkrieg, Anti-Nowhere League, Sweet Savage (that once featured Def Leppard/Dio guitarist Vivian Campbell), The Misfits, Holocaust, etc.

      It's funny that back in the late 70's, early 80's I thought Budgie were a pretty big deal, wasn't until much later that I realized that they never really had much success, it's just that me and my friends all listened to them as did a lot of people in the burgeoning metal scene. There's actually a lot of bands like that, never very successful, but very influential.

      @@namegoeshereorhere5020 Honestly, Grateful Dead, Phish, Ramones, early Genesis, early Pink Floyd, Manilla Road, Pentagram, Hanoi Rocks, Anvil, Sonic Youth... never sold that many records. But look at the musical impact they had made...
      Of course Genesis & Pink Floyd became megastars, but their early records r for hardcore fans only.

      @@sumonjamal1653 Yeah, I always have to check myself when I talk about music to people who probably just listened to what was on the radio. I worked with a bunch of guys who were all my age or older and it blew my mind that none of them had ever heard of MC5. To me MC5 and the Stooges are like the Beatles and Rolling Stones.
