wow someone was watching over you glad you caught it something I will have to watch out for at my wood cutting spot this drought were having sure dont help have a great weekend
@@glenmomrik727 it's extremely dry. We need rain, Glen! The interesting thing is that my wife and I smelled smoke that same evening. At about 11:00 at night I walked out there and didn't see any flame. Yesterday morning I woke up and it was flaming again. Soaked it down with a fire extinguisher again.
@@royhuett4892 it would have ran right across the field into the woods. It would have been horrible. I'm thinking I need to put a fire extinguisher out at the mill.
@@markeustice618 me too. I'm speculating my exhaust did it when I was dogged into a log. Thanks Mark for watching and the comment. Have a great weekend.
I’d say you caught it just in time . The muffler on ole buster caught some sawdust and chafe on fire the other day when we were splitting but I smelled the smoke and got it shut down perdy fast before it could get going . Just never know .
@@BigelowWoodcraft I said yesterday I was gona go buy one to have out by the splitter but I havant done it yet and after seeing what happened to you I’m gona definitely get one in the morning .
This video is 🔥‼️. Just sitting here watching your video and thinking I should go split some wood. Maybe I need to rethink this. Don’t know about your area but we are so dry here, we haven’t had rain here in a very long time. I stated in my intro in an upcoming video that it’s dry as a popcorn fart here😂. I’m surprised that the saw started a fire. Stay frosty Jerry.
@@AppalachianFarmstead good morning Mike. We didn't get a frost last night. We've been getting a frost every night. It's been dry as a popcorn fart around here as well lol. I'm just glad I noticed it. Have a great weekend buddy. I'll catch up with you sometime this weekend.
@@BigelowWoodcraft This morning was our first frost up at the house, we’ve had several down in the fields. Lucky for sure, we had meat in our smoke house several years ago, Ruger was barking his head off. Finally got up to see what was going on and the smoke house was fully engulfed.
I'll be right over with the hotdogs. Nothing like a dog on a stick over a wood fire UMMM. It's pretty dry here in north central Pa also. Brother and I have been knocking down dead ash trees for fire wood over the past few days. Never give a fire much thought but I guess I'd better start paying more attention. Read reply below about 2005 fire. Ran the neighbor out, bought the land and house. Now that's a "land grab" strategy I never thought of. HMMM 🤔 Glad you caught it in time. Little boys with matches and chainsaws, it never ends well. I keep after you about safety protocol, well I guess I'm just going to have to make a trip over to Michigan and show you the right way to burn up a log deck. 😊
@@jims6308 I need a safety audit for sure. Come on up! The best fires for hotdogs are hardwood fires. This would have been perfect lol. I got a pretty good deal on that house and property lol. Have a great weekend Jim. I always look forward to your comments.
Wow check that out, never had that happen to me either buddy. Just watched the video a few times around the 3.44 mark and noticed smoke coming up from the wood, maybe you had an ember already starting its way back then. Good job you caught it though. I wonder if that's why they call it firewood 🤣 Keep up the entertainment for us though buddy 👍
Yeah Jill and I went back through the video and we saw the smoke as well. Interesting fact the very next morning it was burning again. We now have proper fire extinguishers out in the lumber yard lol. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I truly appreciate you my friend.
@@terryatpi in April of 2005 I cleaned out my wood boiler. Threw all the ashes in my hole all homesteads have lol. The ashes sat in the firebox for over a week not burning and cooling before I cleaned the stove. There was still an ember that got out. It was quite exciting. It's actually why I own this land that the mill is on. The neighbor moved after it burned. Much of the land was hers I burned. I ended up buying her house and land lol. Forest came back nice lol.
@@terryatpi those logs were dead and hard. I suspect my exhaust did it. I rewatched the video and I see a puff of smoke from the first log after I move away. I never noticed it.
@@BigelowWoodcraft wow! Stove must have been pretty new then. You burned your neighbor out ! That is a crazy story. So you bought her house too or just the land ? Funny story now. Maybe not so much then. Thought I was going to have a heart attack around twenty years ago. My brush fire got out of control and I realized it wasn’t going to stop on it’s own. 2-3 hundred feet of garden hose saved me. I wasn’t right for days after from the work , smoke and adrenaline.
We would appreciate it if you would subscribe. It really helps the channel. Thank you.
