This is so timely! I just got the CosRX snail mucin serum and I definitely like the way it feels and works on my skin (and they say theirs is harvested humanely....but??) but I don't know as much about it as I would like. As for why people started using it as skin care, I think I read somewhere that there were farm workers for a particular plant (soy? rice? can't recall) and the snails were very common and they were having to remove them from the plants constantly and noticed that their hands got really soft and supple and they realized it was due to the snail slime....and a beauty trend was born? I decided that I don't want to use a product that comes from the discomfort of other living beings. So it's a NO for me.

Because the only thing I know is, snail mucin are not real supposed to give you that stringy texture, that part is for sure artificial. Another thing is, just personally for me, it takes way too long to sink into my skin. And every time I put it on, my sunscreen gets very sticky even when I use the BOJ sunscreen. And my face gets very oily when I use it. I don’t like waste, so I am currently just using it at night to become a skin barrier repair serum. I have so many snail mucin products, the cosrx one is very so so for me, especially now it’s hot and humid, gosh even me with dry skin can’t stand it. I literally feel like putting lubricant on my face which when I look into the ingredients they are so similar. Wait…I should just use it with my hubby I guess 😂😂😂

Some don't care about the topics you are passionate about, such as veganism, cruelty-free products, saving the environment etc and that's normal (to be different) because judging them for their choices, saying that they should be different or change because they are "wrong" is not working. They need to educate themselves on their own pace, and through that, make a conscious decision and effort to change if they want to. I agree that we as humans should put effort and care for the people, animals, and the environment. In the videos on this topic the one-sided view is extremely strong, leaving me to feel like you are not willing to accept anything that differentiates from your views and you are pushing your opinion so hard- not being inclusive of other ones. @@simnimb8401 No attitude here. I’m simply speaking out for tortured animals who don’t have a voice to speak up for themselves. I am not trying to argue with anyone. Here are the facts, snails only secrete mucin as a defense mechanism when they are stressed. Knowing this fact alone will tell you everything you need to know about this industry. But if you don’t see where this is going, here is the deal. These snails are exposed to prolonged periods of stress in order to extract as much mucin from them as possible. The lucky ones die in the process. These torture methods include being sprayed with irritating chemicals over and over, being poked at, exposed to extremely high temperatures, being crushed, among many other things. Animals shouldn’t be exposed to any of this ever, but even less so when it’s for cosmetic reasons, not to mention that snail mucin benefits are mostly a gimmick, as very little research has been done or proven to show any real benefits.
This video is interesting to see the methods used to get people to stop using snail slime. - "The beauty industry doesn't want you to know". "There's a lot of questions". - Went to Korea... maybe adds credibility (Edit: Oh I thought that would be part of this video, never mind, that's a future thing). - Snails in a dome??? BUT ALSO some get squished, so THAT'S definitely bad. - You're gonna put SNAIL SLIME on your FACE? gag, disgusting behaviour, ew. How revolting of you. - Shows the most excessive snail-slime-on-face video in existence (caption also mentions break outs). - Mention that alternatives have niacinamide (though don't mention that "COSRX Advanced Snail Radiance Dual Essence" exists and that one does has niacinamide). Oh, there it is at 8:44 - 4:25 "why would I pay for the nasty, cruel snail mucin?", but did we yet cover where the cruelty is exactly? (other than some apparently getting squished, which isn't nice, going under the assumption that they can feel pain and suffer in the first place). There might be more specifics later in the video (Edit: no). - Spend a lot of time on the stringy alternative product, doing the hand thing (though I think maybe most people are buying snail mucin DESPITE that characteristic). - 6:50 "I wouldn't know how to describe it, other than the specific term that is often used in K-beauty forums for snail mucin; 'glass skin'". - OH, and the thing that made me want to waste time analysing this video; I saw in my peripheral vision what was likely a snail at the start of the video, and I guessed that it's going to be a cute cartoon, and that it's going to have a little smile on it's face (it wasn't as cute as I was expecting, but it does have a little smile lol). But anyway all good, no problem with advocating for alternatives. I would have liked more backed up reasoning though, like why are the dome wash containers bad? I don't know what to make of that. Going to Korea for some investigationing sounds interesting! (I'm sure some companies/sources are dodgy, and others aren't. Hopefully it's a more nuanced picture that is presented, if that is the reality.
I hope you also look into human cruelty free... No child labour during ingredients resoursing and the manufacturers are not put in dangerous working conditions with low payments.. Unfortanately white "cruelty free" influencers never look into this huge issue.. Unless they think harming non white humans is not cruelty and vegan products not tested on animals are completely free from cruelty even if four years olds are forced to mind the ingredients!
Doesn't that responsibility fall to all of us though, to research and source products were human exploitation is not prevalent ? Surely as consumers we need to take some kind of responsibility ourselves to understand were our products are coming from and who or what is used in the process or making them. Most of the information is readily available to us by just doing a little bit of probing ourself, pointing fingers is not the answer if we are not willing to step up and make conscientious independent retail choices as consumers.
One product that you can be more confident was unethically sourced via child labor is mica. Mica can be hard to avoid especially if you can’t find information about where it’s sourced. Colourpop is the only company I’m aware of that makes colors without mica by producing an alternative in a lab in California. There needs to be a louder demand for fair trade/fair and legal labour products, laws and certification, just like there have been for vegan, cruelty-free products in different countries.
Yeah, Americans in particular like to pretend they don't benefit from the exploitation of others if they aren't lily white. The truth is Westerners (espec the wealthy) are all up to our necks in it regardless of ethnicity.
There is no misinformation or fear mongering.. wtf.. Just don't give blatant comments without backing it up... you just wanna hate just say that ... yikes!!
Honestly, I don't care (as harsh as it sounds) if the mucin is extracted with or without cruelty (and clearly I'm not vegan). But it is extremely interesting to know what happens backstage about the production of all these products. The knowledge is invaluable.

Unfortunately, none of the products that you recommended are available in Malaysia :(
Is there no shopee Malaysia? If there is it should be available there somehow
Snail mucin is better, and has clinical studies and research.
you don't need it, there are plenty of other creams that are better and cruelty free
@@frostflower5555 I prefer snail mucin
Oh, there it is at 8:44
- 4:25 "why would I pay for the nasty, cruel snail mucin?", but did we yet cover where the cruelty is exactly?
“From what I’ve seen online…” very helpful. 😂
Can you please do a video on the neutrogena purescreen tinted sunscreen?
Fan from Japan 🇯🇵
wow. your hair is really stunning!!! go natural more :)
Ilove some by mi problis
I hope you also look into human cruelty free... No child labour during ingredients resoursing and the manufacturers are not put in dangerous working conditions with low payments.. Unfortanately white "cruelty free" influencers never look into this huge issue.. Unless they think harming non white humans is not cruelty and vegan products not tested on animals are completely free from cruelty even if four years olds are forced to mind the ingredients!
What exactly does this have to do with being white?!😂 I have never seen ANYONE talk about this but you always have to make everything about race smh
Non-white humans 💀
The amounts of misinformation & fear-mongering in this video yikes
There is no misinformation or fear mongering.. wtf.. Just don't give blatant comments without backing it up... you just wanna hate just say that ... yikes!!
The way you said "bye" here is so cute. Most of the time when you say "bye" it sounds a little awkward. Just saying! Don't come at me!
Hm interesting.
Honestly, I don't care (as harsh as it sounds) if the mucin is extracted with or without cruelty (and clearly I'm not vegan). But it is extremely interesting to know what happens backstage about the production of all these products. The knowledge is invaluable.
if it works for me , i do not gaf !
snails disgusts me lol
snails are literal bugs idc 😂
