5 years after my wife was killed on the operating table, I can still send myself into a crying, hyperventilating mess by reliving the memory of the moment they told me. Still happens 3 or 4 times a month, although I try to avoid it obviously. Sometimes it just happens. I was in an unresponsive fog for the first few months after, this dude chuckling away makes me sick.
EDIT: I just want to thank everyone for such overwhelming positivity. With the exception of surprisingly few trolls, I read all of these and they make me a little happier, even if I may cry while reading them. I don't have any kids or want to date, since we were together from 15 years old I honestly wouldn't even know where to start. You may not think it, but sometimes just a quick positive comment or small conversation, even with a total stranger, could possibly be making their day a lot better. You never know what the person next to you is going through.

He was clearly in on it with her otherwise he would have been straight in that door.
His lack of emotion, the fact that he bounced straight to this woman after her death, the jovial nature of his discussion after being told his wife was executed. Driving around waiting for police to arrive first. And then all of the evidence that one obviously would have been destroyed or removed if taken, and if the purpose was just to kill the woman, you wouldn't also go and take her belongings and keep them unless you were planning on having a fall guy to plant evidence on.
They were hoping they would get away with it cleanly, but when pressure rose and the spotlight turned to them, they finally decided to plant all of the evidence, and report him so that they could get all of the attention off themselves.
Plus the way the fall guy spoke was not that of a guilty man. That was genuine surprise and fear. They had planned this together from the beginning to remove his wife from the picture. Paige’s description of Marty’s motivation to kill Desiree doesn’t make sense AT ALL. Why would Marty do that for them? So Paige & Scott can be together? Huh? Who on earth would do that? But the police bought into it and conveniently found all the evidence at Marty’s office. Paige sounds like a narcissistic manipulator who wanted to be with Scott, told Scott she was pregnant with his baby and plotted the whole plan with Scott. Paige did tell the police the real motivation to murder Desiree, except she took out her name and replaced it with Marty’s name, added a few snotty tears and sent Marty to prison. Horrible.

Exactly! If I was marty I would've pled not guilty and taken my chance with a jury. Any half decent lawyer could build a case implicating scott and paige based off of their interrogation videos alone. They're shockingly cold about someone close to them being murdered, if anyone has a reason to be unemotional its fucking Marty who didn't even know the victim! Paige obviously related to scott's narcissism (him looking down on blue collar workers, keeping himself "smartly dressed" as he says to the cops) and thought he'd be better at providing for her than whoever really knocked her up. Bet she was jealous of scott buying his wife a new motorbike etc. And her being pregnant was the catalyst for scott to agree to the plan. She literally described the whole murder and was the only one who could actually benefit from des being out the way, plus the whole "He (i) wanted her to have an open casket funeral" that was dark AF. They need to send these 'investigators' back to school, half the true crime fanatic community would do a better job.

Here’s my theory: Paige got pregnant, her boyfriend left her and she was afraid of raising the child by herself with little money and no help. So she got Scott to believe the child was his and needed Dez out of the picture so they could be together and she has money and help raising the kid. She needs an untraceable gun and knows Marty has one, so she borrowed it from him and she and Scott come up with the plan to kill Dez. After Scott and Paige were questioned by police, they knew their stories sounded way too suspect and the police would keep after them until they could gather the evidence they need to charge them for the murder. Paige was probably afraid Marty might go to the police first, telling them Paige borrowed his gun, so she framed Marty for the crime first. The story she gave that Marty wanted Paige and Scott to be together because of the baby is absurd, especially because he was supposedly interested in her too. Marty had no motive to kill Dez, but Paige and Scott certainly did.

There was no ineptitude. It wasn't the best interrogation in the world but there wasn't much more they could do. They had zero evidence for an arrest, meaning if he gets combative he can just walk out and there's nothing they can do. Just because you've seen other interrogations where they start putting the pressure on and accusing doesn't mean that's the norm. That's only done when they're already certain they're the killer, and generally when they also already have everything they need to convict. In this case we still have no idea which of the two of them actually did it. Marty, meanwhile, also had a story with a lot of holes in it, leading the detectives to believe he was almost certainly involved or aware of what happened, regardless of the last minute evidence being enough to convict. Either they could have all three walk free knowing that all three were likely involved in a murder, or they could at least get one of them a sentence while hoping more information turns up. Remember, if you bring someone to trial and they are found not guilty, aside from appeals that's it. That person can never be tried for that crime again. The stakes are very high, as is the burden of evidence.

You can tell they have practiced the story dozens of times and they likely feel like the amount of words they are saying is going to increase their believability. If you look at interrogations from people who were uninvolved, they will normally give their story in about 2 or 3 minutes and then police have to spend the next hour asking for more details. When someone is lying, they start giving the history of every gun they own when no one even asked.

Even if he's setup, what are detectives supposed to do with that? They unfortunately had no physical evidence to link either Paige or Scott. Lack of emotion from Scott is not evidence of murder. There's motive, (the baby) but that's all. I wonder about the shoes though, if Paige is the one who did it and somehow wore Marty's shoes for the murder wouldn't forensics be able to tell the difference of weight transfer in the shoes or something seeing as how they left prints?

Ole Paige had borrowed the gun from Dopey, she knew the exact steps taken, where the key was hidden, where the bedroom was, she knew about going in and out to leave rain foot prints, and she was so gracias to allow Des to have an open casket funeral. How did she memorize every single detail that Marty supposedly told her? Because she did it. She set this entire thing up and used poor goofy to hide all the evidence in that weird partial board room. Did you see that bed in there? That’s the bed where she gave goofy her payment.
The female sociopath is like no other. She will beguile you with sex and promises.
Notice that she didn’t come forward until a year later and it was only when she caught ole Scotty boy dipping his pen in someone else’s ink. She rushed that police office like a mad man to tell on goofy before Scotty could tell on her.
The entire trial she probably told Marty to take the Alford Plea and promised that they’d be together when he got out. The two nuts rolling around in his noggin believed her and took the bullet for her. Meanwhile, she will now file for back child support from the real father of her child.
ADDITION: I went back and listened again, fast forwarded baloney Scooter, and she definitely did it. The detectives knew, they just didn’t have any evidence. She will get hers though, they always do.

Ever hear of the Innocence project? See here: “Prosecutorial misconduct can be so difficult to detect because when a prosecutor deliberately hides evidence of innocence from the defense, that evidence is intended to stay hidden, and too often does,” Ms. Morrison explained. “But consequences for prosecutorial misconduct are also rare because the legal system as a whole makes it so difficult to impose meaningful sanctions on prosecutors, even when egregious misconduct is discovered.”

Nothing about his case seems right, I find it hard to believe that Scott who was so terribly worried about his wife when driving back home, yet once told that she was the deceased person in the home he had absolutely no response or reaction. As for the girl, I believe she’s as guilty as guilt gets, I believe she knew all along and was greatly involved, I don’t believe for a second that all of those precise and descriptive details she was able to recall about the murder were because of what “Marty told her” she recited the details way too perfectly. I believe Marty is simply responsible for being an unwise simp that allowed his love and admiration for Paige to cloud his rational judgement.
