it should be easiyl solved if jagex adds a 5 tick-delay between putting and item and clicking on trade and add a warning pop-up message when trade is unbalanced ( eg: trading an 100k item for 200k)@@ConyeOSRS
Yeah it's actually not hard to mask the swap even by hand. I did a quick swap to troll a friend once when we were collating gear and it took him a solid 20 seconds after the trade completed to realize I still had his bow (I gave it back of course. Friendship>gp). These scammers will use macros tho that make it legit instant. If you aren't carefully watching second screen, you'll never see it change.
Those quick trades are stressing me out because I keep thinking a second later youre gonna say something like “then I made the biggest mistake that ill never forgive myself for” 💀
Fun fact: the first account that comes up to trade you before the pavlovian scam is checking to see if you have the trade delay on. The scam only works if its turned off so its a way of weeding out people with the delay on that they can't scam using that method.

Thanks for mentioning this. Always remember, the guy telling you "it's not a scam" is always part of the scam and he will try to scam you too. When you spot a scammer just hop worlds and turn off private.
Haven’t played rs since 2012 ish and wow. There were some elaborate lures but this was crazy. The quick trade part was brutal I felt like I was on a rollercoaster lmao. Good stuff bro
I'm ashamed to admit it, but I lost a twisted bow this way (second method). He repeatedly switched from a figure like 1,500m to 1,500k and I wound up taking him for like 50mil. And then, on the 30th attempt, he switched it from 1,500m to 150m for the first time because I was focused on the unit and lost my tbow. It happens, don't mess around. It felt truly terrible and I wound up quitting for about 4 months because of it.
I found a bunch of loot on the floor one time back in 06. It was obby shield and cape which was worth something back then. Some dude lured me into lumbridge swamp and down into the hole. He took me past the frogs and then used a wind spell on the frog near me which extinguished my candle. I was totally unaware and ended up dying for everything. I have never seen anybody do this trick ever again and not sure if it still works. But would be nice for you to check it out.

It would be hilarious to just waste these fools time by being an utter nuisance that makes them do all the set-up only to just be like: "Oh look at the time - dinner. See ya!" Because they clearly think they are far more intelligent than they actually are, so just picturing how they are drooling with anticipation at a big payday only to have the grin vanish as they spot they just got played. Adding extra flavor to it by just pretending to be the most incompetent and clueless player to ever play that takes like five minutes to process anything by asking them the stupidest and most tedious questions imaginable at every turn.

Got scammed on 3b gp a week ago, got my bank down to 400m becouse of those scammers. I still feel awful. And it actualy hurt me a bit. Got me thinking about continuing my runescape journey. In addition to that method they also let me get away with successfully counterscamming them for about a month. Man I felt so dumb when they actually got me because the 60m or whatever I got away with was not even close to the 2b I lost. They tried selling me back my items and gold via RWT after :( I quit the game shortly after because I felt like I was limited on content since I sold bowfa for ancestral when I got my shadow

@xortrox that bank is kinda safe because 2-3 tiles to get pushed out i believe stalls are patched in pvp worlds so what he could do is trade without run haha but main point what they do is they walk under you when they trade you ore they have 2nd account with same name outside safezone ore the decline trade ore other option diffrent bank telling you its safe there but it is not safe bank like babarian assault ore crafting bank so manny places methods they can do even i dont know all but i try to find out my self without risking my bank
Ayyyy Virtuality here, yeah other method is two alts with similar names where one trades and quick teleports out somewhere nearby while decoy still at bank, then accept trade lures you out of bank.

The lumbridge bank lure is what happened to me. Got too high and greedy at the same tine. Deadly combo, but the kid is back. That Venezuelan family ate good!
One scammer gave me 200k at ge and told me to follow him. So I banked everything and followed. 5min later he gave me 500k and told me to wear my best gear. I teleported out and walked away with my free 700k.
Always thought it would be interesting with these people to see how many hoops they are willing to go through to pretend like you only speak something like Czech, Latvian, etc and see how long you can string them along through google translate or if they give up instantly.
Even just watching this video, when he went to the 2nd trade screen with the twisted cane i was thinking "omg accept he left the bow in" scary how sneaky some of these scams are
Any conditioned behaviour that requires a choice is Skinnerian conditioning. Pavlovian conditioning is restricted to reflexive or autonomic actions. That scam played with expectations and priming more than conditioning. Maybe Pavlovian conditioning insofar as creating a false sense of security, but if we wanted to make that thesis then we'd have to drag a lot of other theory in here. One scammer gave me 200k at ge and told me to follow him. So I banked everything and followed. 5min later he gave me 500k and told me to wear my best gear. I teleported out and walked away with my free 700k.
Always thought it would be interesting with these people to see how many hoops they are willing to go through to pretend like you only speak something like Czech, Latvian, etc and see how long you can string them along through google translate or if they give up instantly.

Any conditioned behaviour that requires a choice is Skinnerian conditioning. Pavlovian conditioning is restricted to reflexive or autonomic actions.
That scam played with expectations and priming more than conditioning. Maybe Pavlovian conditioning insofar as creating a false sense of security, but if we wanted to make that thesis then we'd have to drag a lot of other theory in here.
