ed smith you speak about god as though you have met him and know what or how he thinks. So did you meet him in a real sense, in the same way that you might meet a friend for a beer? In a physical way that could be recorded on a camera, or on some audio recording? Perhaps he was caught in security footage at Starbucks? Perhaps someone else was in the room at the same time and witnessed you meeting or "knowing" god.
The answer is of course no you didn't, you only know god because of some vague fuzzy feeling you experienced internally, that nobody could measure, record or objectively measure. Because he does not objectively exist - like Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster or the tooth fairy.

To me, the God premis falls short, not just for lack of proof. I listen to people of faith and what I have to believe to be accepted in heaven, is morally impossible for me, I think I'm the better human being for not believing it

Hell is eternal separation from God. God loves but is also just. Think of a heaven like a place God lives, a house. Think of hell like the street outside where that house is parked, ( maybe it’s a motor-home ).. who knows.. now.. when you die, knock on the door of the motor-home and ask to come inside. If you never attempted to have a relationship with the owner of that motor-home, do you think he would let you inside to live with him...for all eternity? Apply that same equation to your life now.. go ask someone on the other side of the town you live in if you can come and move in with them.. what do you think they’re gonna say? My thought is “ get the HELL out of here”. You should re-examine your interpretations of Gods word. Or maybe develop your own opinion rather than repeat George Carlin or another prominent A-Theist. It is comical how much time Atheists spend on proving God doesn’t exist. It’s a full time job. I wonder if so much time is also put into proving Santa doesn’t exist or the tooth fairy. The proof God exists can be found in Newton’s third law as and if it applies to everything. Why do so many spend so much time proving God doesn’t exist? It’s the other end of the equation trying to balance itself out. We have day because we have night, without the day we wouldn’t have the night. We would just have. Everything you see that governs the earth and world as you know it , is first brought about in dimensions you cannot see , taste or touch. We live in the third dimension. Trying to understand something that resides outside the dimension in which we live is impossible. This is why it takes faith. Once you exercise your faith, you don’t need visible proof because you start to understand and see with your heart and mind or ( third eye - if you’re one of those types of spiritually practicing peeps ). But again, the fact that so many atheists exist proves nothing, it is the actions of those that are that prove God’s existence. Every in depth video, article, meeting, debate, joke, comment... it all proves God is real. Who would dedicate that much collective time to proving something they don’t believe in or even think exists ? I don’t believe in the boogey man but I don’t write books and enter debates about it. But even if Alex and others could flip this point around on itself and I know Alex would ( really intelligent young man that I respect immensely ), to what end ? What do you get out of eliminating the Christian God? Has anyone ever asked this or answered it? Let’s say everyone stopped believing and practicing their faith... what then? Why is that so important? If people have faith in God and it makes them what they believe to be better and kinder to others and more caring... why destroy that for them? Why tear it down? My daughter is 5 years old, she likes to pretend she is a cat. If I was to combat her every time she pretended to be a cat I would be robbing her of joy. And for what reason? Because I am miserable and want her to be too? I feel hopeless so I need her to feel that way too so I don’t feel alone? The very community that atheists try to tear down is the very thing they need to thrive. A community revolving around having faith and hope in God, and striving to be better than they are. Ultimately atheists go public with their doubts and try so earnestly to prove God doesn’t exist so that other people will join them so they feel connected to some type of false truth and community. We long to be connected to each other.. we long to be loved and to love others. But the thing is God is love.. he is what connects us to each other.

What you have posted does not constitute a response to the Epicurean Riddle. It hardly counts as an argument at all.
Furthermore, if God loves us, why are the only options for us to believe in his story with little-to-no basis in reality, or eternal suffering? That is not what love is. Especially since most of us come to the quote-unquote "wrong" conclusion using the rational minds that He gave us. So either He wanted a race of slaves to worship Him forever, in which case why bother giving them rationality or free will, or He wanted a race of free-thinking beings, in which case why give the most dire ultimatum that any being can possibly give to such a race?

Then how come humans end up there?

    • @karlinwilliamson9329
      @karlinwilliamson9329 4 года назад +4

The first man was tricked. Original paradise was designed for humans upon creation to flow in an abundant grace with one parameter. However, man rejected love and its parameters wilfully, just like a loving Father doesn't allow a baby to drink chlorine bleach (true love sets parameters) . Satan only entices us to sin (to do what you want without parameters) and follow his path to hell, even unknowingly sometimes. Now what choice is there today, every human is born into this temporary world system (naturally, with no choice) . And the decisions we can make: 1) Either to accept God's gift of salvation and choose to follow His graced path back to life (John chapter 3 verse 16) or 2) just operate under this natural world system that follows the path of death of the first man, and reject the gift of salvation (rejecting love with parameters) , and choose to determine his/her own fate with whatever boundary they see fit. If you want understanding, read John Chapter 3: 1-21).

    • @karlinwilliamson9329
      @karlinwilliamson9329 4 года назад +1

Алтегоре that's a very good argument. However, with any choice there are consequences. Think of any invention, a car can have a wreck, so should you stop driving? A computer can catch a virus, will you stop using them? I do understand a life without consequences, I guess, that seems logical. However, the world was created perfect. We were given instructions to take care of it. Just like this Covid-19, we are to keep our distance and mankind chooses sometime to not take it seriously and thus we almost can't leave home now. In the beginning, we were not to eat of one tree, the knowledge of good and evil, in the garden and mankind chose to eat it and tasted death. So the same way some will try to figure this out, are the same ones who will miss the choice to eat of the tree of life (Jesus) and choose to inherent life. Basically it all comes down to choice. God invented choice, we just carry the responsibility.

Ever notice how they don’t say “if you are good, you go to heaven” it’s “if you believe, you go to heaven”. The danger with this is that it enables so many religious people to do terrible things, but then go home and pray to god, and they feel good about themselves. I think this is why some of the most horrible people tend to be the most religious. For example I know parents who beat their kids, but they all go to church every Sunday. They think it excuses their behavior

Christianity is a religion that lives on condemning all of mankind as irredeemably evil by default and sells you the get-out-of-jail card and I won't dare hand the world to these cynical human-haters.

In response to your statement let's get it right. Just because you believe will not get you into heaven. Satan used scripture to tempt Jesus. The wording should be " If you believe with all of your heart, mind, and soul" In other other words the word of God that was given in the gospel to change you into a new creation as the old is gone and the new has begun. Christianity is the only form of religion that has mercy and grace. The rest are on a good or bad scale. You have to constantly better yourself in fear from outweighing the good from the bad. A christian is no better than you as we all fall short of the glory of God. What we do have in return is mercy and grace to repent of our sins. The holy spirit convicts our wrong doings but continues to allow us to guided in righteousness.

Just as you have free will in a society governed by civil law, would you blame the justice system in all it's varied branches for enforcing those laws upon you when you , through your free will, choose to violate one of those laws. Your personal opinions or perspectives concerning those laws or the fairness of the justice system in which you now face will have no relevance when you stand before the judge. He is there to uphold law and impose judgement and an ultimate sentencing or acquittal based on the findings using the law as the standard and the judge as the one to enforce justice. God is such a being in that, He is one of truth and justice, but also one who can acquit, even though you are declared guilty, he has made a way(jESUS) where He can acquit us. It's our natural predisposition to be sinners, it's hereditary, we are born with that in our DNA, but it's through our free will that we can choose to accept or deny that acquittal. If you broke the law and someone you don't even know stepped forward and satisfied the demands the justice system was imposing upon you, you have a choice, accept or deny. This is your position with Christ. It's not a question of goodness, or fairness, it's one of eternal justice, just as in the natural world , in God's kingdom their is a moral law and justice system and He will ultimately judge everyone based on the free will you have been given to accept His ransom or reject it.

this argument is a false parallel. If we are discussing the claims of Christians, ie. that there is a God, a heaven and a hell, you've got to include all the claims, one of which being that this God is the standard of goodness as well. This line seems compelling because it is using a standard of morality to judge that Stalin's rule was evil and immoral (which I think we can all agree that it was). This results in injustice because people were punished for acting morally. However, if you're critiquing the claims of Christianity, you must work under the assumption that God is good, so actions against Him are bad, and injustice isn't created by punishing them (unlike the Stalin analogy).

@Dave Rodriguez The idea of hell is a manipulation of the original Judaic/Canaanite Sheol (The place of the dead) wherein ALL went regardless of nature or rank. The incorporation of hell only became present by quite literally copying Zoroastrianism (Among other elements of Christianity down to the name of the Devil "Satan"). The idea of fire and brimstone is much more recent and contradicts the ideas of early Judaism or even the proto Christianity beyond an incorporation of Zoroaster and the Proto Catholicism. It was used as socio-political leverage to threaten with hell. IN the same vein, divine right of kings was postured the same. The King James for all it's fame is not nearly as ancient as believed (Try the 1600s when it was commissioned). The idea of Hell as it's seen is just a stolen idea from Zoroaster. If a just god did exist, he wouldn't make humanity broken. AT his best, god is genocidal, cruel, and contradicts himself. At worst, he creates us to torture us. To the point of letting his enemy ravage one of his own ardent worshippers, kill his ten children and go on. For no real reason. Only to simply REPLACE them afterwards. Not resurrect, replace. To God, we're just cogs and drones that he stacks the deck against for no reason then to burn them down to numb husks of fear and pain. God to many IS the Devil for these acts. Your god, his enemy, the entire pantheon of Christianity, Islam, Judaism, the entire lot. Are born from a need for a warlord to justify his actions to bronze age savages raiding, killing, consuming or worse. The rest is window dressing. Even Jesus Christ has been tracked down as a cult leader crucified for charlatanry through a noble patron. The same providence you justify god, is the same power as Vishnu, Kupe tangata, Quetzecuotl or the Blue Comet Kachinka. It has the same power as citing by the power of Grayskull and violently vomiting on command. Of all things, the closest we've seen of real miracles are explained later, compromising with casualty or the like. Free will is something god CONDEMNED humanity for. The fruit of the tree of knowledge gave humanity true understanding and free will. Self awareness. It is at best in the end an allegory for the ages of man. An allegory book butchered by warlords and warmongers with the key facet of "Forgiveness to be given by God alone through *Insert mechanism of denomination here*. It's the ultimate scot-free to the rest of the world, forgiveness is human, between humans and by human means to accept or choose. When we're dead, we're dead. The claim that the Christian God is omniscient does far more than negate our own free will.
If Yahweh knew everything that was ever going to happen, as omnipotence suggests then he would know everything we would ever do even before we were born, which means he could not punish us for anything at all. He would create us knowing all the apparent 'sin' we would ever commit in our lives, including the sin of atheism. If he punishes us for anything then he is blaming us for his own mistakes.
If the Christian God is omniscient then he knows the properties of everything he will create before he even creates it, thus causing a paradox each and every time.
If Yahweh is omniscient then he could not have created Hell merely for Satan and his demons, because he would know in advance that humans would go there.
If Yahweh is omniscient then not only could we not have free will, by the same argument neither could he. Everything he ever did, everything he ever created, every decision he made, would be known in advance. When it comes down to it, that means he could not have been the 'first cause' that Christians claim either.
If Yahweh is not the first cause, then whatever the true first cause was (if there was one in the first place) must have created him, and if that first cause is also omniscient then we are facing a potential infinite regress.
In short: the Christian claim that Yahweh is omniscient negates everything else that Christians say about him.

      Really?
"If Yahweh knew everything that was ever going to happen, as omnipotence suggests then he would know everything we would ever do even before we were born, which means he could not punish us for anything at all."---
Non-Sequitur Fallacy. You're somewhat confused: "Knowing" something doesn't = *"Causing"* or being responsible for something.
An Example: a Parade winding it's way through a city. If you're on a 50 story building, you can see the lead paraders along with the end and even the assembly area; whereas, those who are viewing from the ground can only see a limited amount in their viewing area.
Question: If you're on the 50 story building and a tuba player trips and knocks down 5 in front of him like dominoes...did you *CAUSE IT* OR...did you just observe it based on your position?
"If the Christian God is omniscient then he knows the properties of everything he will create before he even creates it, thus causing a paradox each and every time"---
There is no "Paradox", you're confused.
"If Yahweh is omniscient then he could not have created Hell merely for Satan and his demons, because he would know in advance that humans would go there." ---
Non-Sequitur Fallacy. SEE "Parade" ect, above.
"If Yahweh is omniscient then not only could we not have free will, by the same argument neither could he."---
Non-Sequitur Fallacy: SEE "Parade" ect, above.
"If Yahweh is not the first cause"---
      HE is, it's quite simple...
      1. The Universe had a Beginning.
      2. The Universe is made of Matter.
      3. Matter is The Consequent, "A Knower" is the Necessary Antecedent.
      (SEE: Quantum Mechanics)
      4. Ergo: Philosophical Naturalism/Realism aka: atheism is PUMMELED.
      5. Therefore: *"A CREATOR".*
"(if there was one in the first place)"---
      "IF"?? (See: 12345) just above.
"...must have created him, and if that first cause is also omniscient then we are facing a potential infinite regress."---
Ahhh... "YOU" just proposed (Caused) the Infinite Regress...it's Fallacious.
He is the CREATOR. The "CREATOR" can't be "created" or else, HE couldn't be the *"CREATOR"* , by simple definition.
Furthermore Logically...for finite things to exist (Universe, Us), there *MUST BE* an Eternal "Always Was" Source; it's a Contingent Necessity (Antecedent) FACT. SEE: Aristotle (Prime/Unmoved Mover, First Cause).
To deny this, you are forced into a logical checkmate then reduced to introducing an *Infinite Regress Fallacy* (Like you just did)...it's Fallacious.
Nothing can CREATE itself.... because that would mean: It Pre-Existed Prior to it's Existence !! *Logical Seppuku.*
Also, there can be ONLY ONE "CREATOR"...considering more than one, even for a Planck Time, is *Logical Seppuku.*
ps. As for the Philosophical Naturalist/Realist (atheist), they 'believe' that the Universe Created them... OK, Who Created *"YOUR"* Creator --- (The Universe) ??
"In short: the Christian claim that Yahweh is omniscient negates everything else that Christians say about him."---
Factually Incorrect, Non-Sequitur Fallacy (See Above).

Quantum Eraser you say he's confused because you think he conflates knowing with causing, but if God is the creator as you say he is, then he is also the cause of everything that happens, therefore his omniscience cancels out free will.
You propose yourself that a "knower" is the necessary antecedent, (how could this be the case? How can you know of something temporally prior to its existence?) and then say that he is the first cause and the creator of the universe while denying he is the cause of all that happens in the universe. This to me seems like more of a non sequitur.

      Yeah, sure!
It's true, knowing something does not mean it's the cause!
If "a god" actualized a world specifically for reasoning conscious free will agents then this world in which those reasoning conscious free will exist in and interact with may be the only logical world that can be actualized in which reasoning conscious free will agents can exist.
Therefor, a creater "god" who chooses to actualize such a world does so with the primary motivation being that reasoning conscious free will agents exist. While such "a god" knows what will happen, it's the existence of reasoning conscious free will agents which are the cause of what happens.
Also, just because God knows what will happen, you don't. Sort of consistent with His intent wouldn't you say?

No, you have a choice of beautiful eternal life or death. Never does the Bible give a choice "You are going to live forever, so you chose where" It gives a choice of life or death. Which is exactly why Romans 6:23 states: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is everlasting life. Or perhaps the most quoted verse of all time, John 3:16, some seem to completely brush passed the obvious difference of life vs death. John 3:16. For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. Well, if you're consciously burning forever, you aren't dead. The world hell is from the Greek word "Hades" which dragged the mythological garbage of a underworld with it. There are confusing verses, such as parables or verses that seem contradictory. But as Malachi 4:1 clearly states: "Surely the day is coming, it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoers will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire" says the Lord almighty. "Not a root or a branch will be left to them. BUT (in contrast to) for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well fed calves. Then you will trample the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I act." says the Lord almighty. I can't cover all of the verses, so here's a great video on it: ruclips.net/video/rvkgRy2KIdg/видео.html

Why does your mind(consciousness) have the ability to collapse the quantum wave functions of electrons when you observe them? The mind over matter idea.. consciousness is like a operating software in a hardware computer.. and first of all softwares need programmers. Do you know who claims to be that? Jeremiah 1:5 before i made you in your mother's womb i knew you i set you apart..have ever seen a program that just got coded on its own without any intelligence behind it? And yet The human DNA is said to have more than 3.1 billion bits of information and you just think somehow protein molecules just decided to form complex DNA structures to form the first microorganism without any intelligence behind it. You know currently physicists are saying that spacetime is emergent from 2-D information plane. That it might be just a holographic simulation. So then if it is a simulation then who made the simulation. John 1. In the beginning there was the "word". And the word was God and everything in existence was through him and for him. And the word became flesh to dwell amoung men. The word is Jesus christ and he is coming soooon to take what is his and to judge all of mankind in history. So once again like i said atheists are Trapped in plato's allegory of the cave. We , born again Christians is hard for us to explain to you how sunlight feel like if you need seen the sunlight. God is someone you experience. God wants you to take that step on your own. A leap of faith. Jesus said seek and you will find. The spiritual realm is real. And i have a hint that it can be scientifically proven now. Why do you think that we can only observe and measure the 4 dimensions of spacetime while quantum physics and advanced geometry have proven that more 8 dimensions of spacetime exist. The spiritual beings (demons, angels, the holy spirit) move through those extra dimensions we can't normally observe.. so yeah😅. I need much more blind faith to believe the religion of extraordinary accidents and conciedence called atheism.

But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more." Apparently it was JESUS who saved her from being stoned, didn't He?

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. [Matthew 21:21]
If you ask anything in my name, I will do it. [John 14:14]
Ask, and it will be given you. [Matthew 7:7]
Nothing will be impossible to you. [Matthew 17:20]
Believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. [Mark 11:24]
If someone severs their spinal cord in an accident, that person is paralyzed for life. No amount of prayer is going to help.
If someone is born with a congenital defect like a cleft palate, God will not repair it through prayer. Surgery is the only option.
A genetic disease like Down Syndrome is the same way -- no amount of prayer is going to fix the problem.
If someone is an amputee, or double amputee, they’re screwed as well.
27,000 children die every day for preventable reasons like malnutrition and unsafe drinking water. If Jesus answers prayers as he promises in the Bible, then why haven't the prayers of billions of people to end world hunger caused Jesus to solve the problem of global poverty? Or people with HIV/AIDS, Ebola...
      20 people have cancer
All of them have read James 5:15, so all of them pray.
      19 of them die
The one who lives proclaims, "I prayed to the Lord and the Lord answered my prayers! My disease is cured! It is a miracle! I KNEW God would answer my prayers!"
You never hear about the 19 who died. No one ever writes about that in a magazine. "Person prays, then dies" is not a great headline. And since they are dead, you will never hear from any of the people who had a deadly experience with prayer.
Therefore, if you don't look at all the facts around the "answered prayer," and you only hear about the one out of twenty prayers that succeed, it appears that prayer is successful.
The research ("Study of the Therapeutic Effects of intercessory Prayer 'STEP' in cardiac bypass patients," published in the American Heart Journal) was conducted over nearly a decade and led by Dr. Herbert Benson. It included almost 2,000 cardiac surgery patients who were randomly assigned to one of three groups. One group was prayed for after being told they may or may not be prayed for; the second group was not prayed for after being told the same thing; and the third was prayed for after being told they definitely would be prayed for.
The results: the group that was prayed for did no better than the group that wasn't prayed for. Prayer had no beneficial effect on recovery time, death rate, or other factors. (In fact, if anything, the results suggested that prayer may be harmful: The third group of patients actually fared slightly worse than the other two groups.)
      Tl;Dr prayer doesn’t work

A good question mkmason, except for one thing: The reason so many atheists try to convince theists is because theists push their religion into things where religion shouldn't be pushed into, like government or education.
Why in most countries sex ed is either non-existent or ridiculously stupid? Because sex is embarassing, shameful. It's better to not educate our children and make them commit mistakes with often very dire consequences.
Or government, instead of creating laws that help people as a whole, they try to push laws that conform to their religion, like gay marriage being illegal.

@fynes leigh Yes. Really. It's not a "chapter and verse" thing, it's a doctrine thing. UNBELIEF is the "only sin" that is not forgiven. Believers are said to love "god". One doesn't love something they don't believe in, therefore if you don't love "god" he/she/it will hurt you (in hell). Now, I don't believe this, I'm just pointing out what I perceive the "good news" seems to be saying.
The second statement is an unintelligible word salad, with no dressing.

    • @mender722
      @mender722 4 года назад +4

@fynes leigh When a person is "saved", do they profess to "love god, Jesus, or what ever you want to refer to as the Savior"? The commandments can be 'boiled down" to "love god completely". Luke 10:27, "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'" Mark 16:16b "...but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
Therefore, believers are "saved", presumable they "love the 'deity figure', and if they don't, they are condemned/sent to hell. In other words, "love me or I will hurt you." Like I said earlier, it's not really a passage look-up thing, it's a doctrine thing. It's a concept gleaned from all my years as a believer. A person claims to repent and love "god" and gets "saved", or they don't love or believe in "god" and according to the doctrine, they get dammed (That's why I say 'love me or I will hurt you')
Don't be moving the goal posts.

Gosh, I love how you sum it up. My dad was an atheist. My mom, just said she had no idea what or if God exists. My mom I am sure thought like me, that the universe is so beyond our comprehension and, at times, things happen which seem beyond coincidence. Like, for instance, when a child my mother's friend had a fight with her mom so she snuck out before dawn and went to my already unconscious mother's window and began knocking. Apparently the gas fridge was pouring gas into the house. One member, her father, heard the knocks and awoke. My mom, her sister, and small brother were already unconscious. Had her friend not had that fight and decided to go to her home they'd all have been gone. It was my mother's way of answering my eight year old question, is there a God. Now, I cannot believe there is a physical entity called God that actually looks like us. That is the height or arrogance. But it was her way of saying events take place that one wonders. She left it for me to surmise. I know on her death bed, when asked, she espoused being a Christian. But when asked if she'd like a clergy to talk with she answered, NO! I think it was a disingenuous " better just be safe and just in case" answer. Basically fear. But isn't all interpretations of being human and sinful, basically having a conscience, used to scare us that we must believe or else? Look, I cannot believe, as a retired nurse and witnessing amazing things near death, plus loving my children and others beyond description, that we are here just as a hoax. That when we no longer breath it's over. Have no idea what exists but cannot fathom that's it. But certainly this whole burning in Hell for eternity seems so manmade and all about control. I think many get caught up in fellowship, and are captivated each Sunday or whenever they go, that it feels so wonderful they are duped and feel they are part of a big family. They feel connected to being human. I sense science's energy cannot be created or destroyed theory takes meaning upon death, in some way. Who knows. AND my biggest fear is how many are trying to end our separation of church and state!! Fear is a wonderful tool for control, huh?

I cried myself to sleep every for an entire year thinking about the littoral eternal pain I was destined for and no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t accept Jesus in my heart again because I simply didn’t believe because all evidence pointed against it. But every time I reminded myself of this my programming would excuse it as the devils temptation pulling me even closer to hell. It was a nightmare. And it didn’t help that the only therapist that my parents would allow me to see was a christian based one who only reinforced my fear and pain by telling me I only had to open my heart. And the more I did, the more it broke. And the more I cried every single night out of paragliding fear of hell. There's a little detail at roughly 6:15 that I thought was interesting and worth pointing out. God designed Hell. Rather, that's what their storybook claims, and I think that's an important distinction that I never noticed before. The devil didn't design Hell, he just lives there. If God is all loving and all good, why the hell would he go about designing a fiery pit of eternal torment for his creation?? Why would he even create the option to go there in the first place?? Why couldn't God have designed an afterlife for his creation that had only a single option?? Why aren't more Christians bothered by this and questioning it?!? Sure, I've heard that Hell exists for the purpose of divine justice, but that just creates more problems. Is God supposed to be merciful or just? Because he can't be both, especially if an existence in Hell is to be eternal.
Edit: I also hate that term "Accept Jesus into your heart," and all that other gushy jargon-y Christian nonsense. I have relatives from the mid-west and southern US, as well as Texas, so trust me when I say I've heard a lot of it. I always joke that the Lord is having a hard time getting in there thanks to all the plaque build-up from McDonald's french fries. No one I've said this to finds it amusing.

When Moses destroyed Egypt each of the plagues was a direct assault against the false Egyptian gods. So they are NOT way cooler than the God of the Bible. God showed his supremacy over dumb imaginations of sinful men. These false deities were impotent and weak and foolish. The apostle Paul in the New Testament said that behind every idol or false god sits a demon. If you don't believe on Jesus as Lord and Savior chances are you have some sort of demonic influence already upon you which prevents you from clearly seeing Jesus and believing the Gospel. A demonic blinding. Read the New Testament see how Jesus deals with it and see how the Apostles unpack it....its really clear.

And if you don't, you already know that it's a losing ticket, so why bother buying anyway? That's how I see omniscience. If God already knew that Adam and Eve would eat the fruit, why did he bothered to make them in the first place?
It's like you said: "God know exactly what would take to convince me". If there's no such evidence, God doesn't really want to be believed.

Why would God create a people with potential to sin and fall into rebellion?.......many forget they had the potential to obey as well and if they did , they would live forever with God.But their sin, separated them from God, and they begin to psychically die, not becasue He didnt love them, but becasue of the laws that were present, you sin you shall be cursed and die, spiritually and physically, but more importantly, it was His Holy righteous and just nature, which most atheist have no concept of...so they bring him down to their level and try to degrade, inflect their anger and frustration upon hIm becasue of their ignorance of Him and so they try to define, refute, dissect Him.....assaulting his character and mocking His person ..lol. news flash...He wins in the end, against all His enemies!!! God created us with freedom to chose , freedom to obey, freedom to reciprocate to him, all He feels towards us. We were created for his pleasure and desire for relationship, fellowship, unity, love, intimacy, a people made in his image, for good works but with the free will to chose or to chose to rebel. But He made provision to redeem and save even those of us who would turn away and reject him. You raise a kid or become a leader in any facet of life you will soon see, even good people, with good intentions , given free will, will hurt you, lie to you, steal from you, rob and even kill you, some even do it to their own family. Where free will exists, the urge to covet, be selfish, greedy, lustful and ultimately end up serving your own insatiable and uncontrollable appetites ever increases. You don't have to go far to find an example of what God did, just study Children for awahile. We are like children given free will with a desire for more and when we don't get our way, we will do what kids do against their parents or anyone who stands in their way....it's no different with God and He will not force His way upon you, but has made a way

Oh yeah. because a being that destroyed all the life on the planet except for a couple of his yes-men is righteous and of just nature.
You are forgetting a lot of atheists were raised in Christian households and read quite a lot of Bible.
"He wins in the end, against all His enemies!!!" - He's omnipotent, yet Satan apparently still exists. Can't God just poof him out of existence? Just think of all those poor people, nobody would be there to tempt them into sin anymore.
"God created us with freedom to chose , freedom to obey, freedom to reciprocate to him, all He feels towards us." Yeah, because if you have two paths to choose from but if you choose the wrong one you will be shot. This is the "free will" you speak of.

I know, it's really damned crazy nonsense. As somebody formerly of their persuasion... They try to explain around it by stating that "death" in this instance is not biological death as one would reasonably assume, but instead some sort of "second death" by which a person would be irrevocably separated from God (Rev 2:11 and Rev 20:14). Of course, as always, there are many problems with this supposed "explanation". One I like to point out is as follows: if our actions or lack thereof determine this "second death", then isn't it just a single death with a different outcome, as at that point it is predetermined? Another is that if this "second death" is what was referenced here, why call it simply "death"? If this book is supposed to be written through divine influence on humanity by God, what they call "inspiration"... why are there discrepancies like these, and why do humans have to go to such lengths to "fix" or explain these things? An omnipotent and omniscient being would, should and ought to make sure that such imperfections never occur in the first place.

As I said before: "...formerly of... persuasion...". I have read the whole thing at least twice through in each of the three most popular versions. I've cross-referenced many texts in the book since then... The only way it just "makes sense" is after some person or another makes the connections through assumptions and a lot of explaining. It doesn't even matter which version is read from. KJV, NKJV, NIV... All of the same vagaries and inconsistencies. I don't understand how anyone could possibly see perfection and divine inspiration in a book so riddled with human levels of naturally flawed writing. It's utter foolhardy madness.
