Windows Icon Evolution: Control Panel
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 окт 2021
- The Control Panel was one of the most important features of the Windows OS, at least up to Windows 8.1. Although it has since been succeeded by the metro Settings program, here's a video on how the icon itself has changed.

the windows vista icon made the most sense imo
it's literally a panel with controls
Yes
It's sad to see that in Windows 11 Control Panel still exists. In 2012 MS decided to bring them into Settings app and they're still doing it after 9 years.
they should've given up on the settings app or the control panel.
@@UltraCenterHQ it is a personal preference. if u prefer the metro ui choose the settings app. if u like the retro ui choose the control panel. but i hate why we are redirected to the retro app for some settings like sound and screensavers
control panel will officially disappear in windows 15 🥲
At least the icon is more consistent. I don't use Settings.
I used a pack which adds the original control panel
The setting app is still there but I won’t access it
it's interesting how it changed at a point of literally be something completely different.
In this case, from a Window, to a futuristic panel
the windows vista icons look cooler than 7
futuristic looking
Ur pfp is cooler than vista
@@TV3TOT Thanks!
Same
So Windows 7 is an improved Vista.
windows vista control panel logo looks like a futuristic tablet
Yes
yes
No until 7 and 8 control panel kicks vista
What people in 2006 thought we'd be using today 🤣🤣
Yeah
Beautiful windows 11
So glad, I grew up with this :,)
Windows Version 1-2: A scary-looking tablet window with four control settings. Very scary.
Windows 3.0 A 1988 PC with a clock in the top right and the screen is an italic pixellated letter A in the capital case in kind of Times New Roman I guess. That letter A also looks like it's racing.
Windows 3.1: Same as Windows 3.0 with the same stuff but the background of that amazing running letter A in capital case background is RAINBOW!!
Windows 1995: Folder icon but with building tools such as a hammer and a nail I guess.
Windows 1998, 2000, and Millenium: Same as 1995 one but a *BIT* shaded. still pixellated though.
Windows XP: It's a tablet that lets you control things and that is also a school test.
Windows Vista: A device that controls a random thing. Also, some gadget thingy kinda flipped.
Windows 7 and 8. x: A (digital) screen that has controls for something.
Windows 10: Same as Windows 7 but it doesn't have that grey thingy under it and it's a monitor too!
Windows 11: Enhanced Windows 10 control monitor
The Windows 1 - 2 icon is the funniest
Hahaha 5 squares XDDDD
Yes
@@A_Guy_with_Ribbon one big square w/ 4 mini squares
@@luizguilherme1576 yeah 5 squares
@@wshmdiecasts hi.
windows 8’s metro settings app was the best but it was underused :(
Fun Fact: if your in windows 11 and type control.exe you will see the control panel logo from windows 7
Hey Nobel Tech! I tuoi video sono bellissimi!
i love windows
You are underrated!
Wow, this history gave me the nostalgia
Before 2:22, it was the control panel icon, and after it was the PC settings icon, which these 2 apps are different, not the same
Yeah, but control panel is slowly fading away
Meaning in the future where there is no control panel, people who make evolution of control panel icon or evolution of control panel will have to end the video their video or use the settinfs
mhm
Modern UI (formerly known as Metro UI) has been deprecated since Fluent Design System was introduced.
Windows Vista one is the most interesting 🤔
i liked the windows vista 7 8 10 and 11 control panel icons
Fun fact: The Downloaded Program Files folder has looked the same since Windows 9x
Poor Control panel. Didnt get any new look
I guess it will removed in future, cause there is Settings
Yep, that's the plan, Microsoft wants to slowly bring all features into the settings app and phase out control panel.
Since 2012 they're still removing this crap.
@@jayanspaliwal5907 yeah, thats what iam thinking, but removing control panel makes sense, because 'Settings' is already there which is more modern and better , and there shouldnt be two things for same work
@@SouravSatvaya 🤣😂😂
@@SouravSatvaya That's because there are some things that they still can't figure out how to incorporate into settings app.
I mean, seriously!! that's the excuse they are giving, just get rid of it already 🤣🤣
Windows 7 Looks Satisfying
Now can you make an sound (control panel) icon vid?
Settings doesen't enter in control panel category btw
Well they should’ve just redesigned the control panel instead of making a new setting app. They’ll never get rid of the control panel I think. What’s the core of Windows ? It’s CONTROL PANEL !
They tired, but it took very long time and still haven't ditched the control panel yet.
i would like to welcome having a choose to use control panel next or Windows should have 2 versions for easy people, who need to set basic things via settings and for advanced who want to use more via control panel
I respect your opinion but
I am confused by settings like I am a windows vista/7 user like for themes I would go to control panel in 7 but in the recent OSes I would go to settings so
It causes confusion for me
Maybe some like setting or control panel
But it’s confusing
Or you know?
Just make a basic and advanced release of Windows with different features.
Strongly agree, they can’t just kill control panel like that, they need to make it a more advanced alternative to settings and not just move half of its content
@@CaptainEuropa98 me too but I like control panel as it is more organised and suited for a desktop interface
Settings is suited for mobile
@@CaptainEuropa98 also I downgraded from windows 10 to windows 7 and I have a surface pro which runs windows 8 and I retextured it to look like windows 98
Control panel should be used for higher level settings like kernel management and stuff. Settings the user level management U.I with controls for basic things.
What music is this
My windows 10 pro but I have a panel from windows 95? What?
Denetim masası müq
you can make evolution of calculator icon please?
and now it's happened
Why is Windows XP pixelated? Windows XP got rid of that, so it doesn’t make sense.
Windows 7 looks like a business board from 2050
is the best for fitured because i check for my spec laptop and a sound :)
The spec page now opens in Settings.
one time in the video the icon and my wallpaper slideshow changed at the same time
you use slideshow wallpapers?
@@LiveUIClient5048 not anymore
I hate the settings app. I always use control panel to do everything.
Good for you if you're using Windows 8 or older.
My favourite is probably the windows 7 - 8.X one
Windows 11 is MIND BLOWING
Windows Vista its cool
Next: Task Manager?
Windows XP control panel lego looks like your drawing on a paper
Wxp looks like a note app icon
0:09 what is that control panel quck●︿●
0:02 That music is from 2200
Vista/7/11 the best
Windows XP is still 16 bit like the C: video.
The my favorite control panel is of windows 10
Could someone explain me the reason why Microsoft still uses old interface of Control Panel in new OS? Looks disgusting.
They just brag about settings and never give a shit about control panel
They should merge these two
They're slowly phasing the Control Panel out, and have been for nearly 11 years.
windows 3.1 came out of the closet
does 8.x mean 8 and 8.1?
Yes
naturally. They are similar, so they are marked this way.
Windows 95 is cool. 7 is nice, 10 also nice.
Windows Vista= Periyodik Tablo
Windows 11 is not metro, that's fully fluent
Контролем панел
Why Windows 3.11 has pan flag
windows 1, 2, 3 and 3.1 doesn't look like a control panel it's more like my pc
Windows 7's one looks the best!
No its my pfp
Vista's looks much better but ok.
Windows 3.1 had the pansexual flag in it
Windows XP one looks more like a drawing program
this is an ordinary tablet that is used to write with a pen
eart
forgot to say i am early
