Personally Austin's cover of Unchained Melody is the definitive version - I never really liked the song until I heard Austin's cover. His cover of "Bring Him Home" is breathtaking. "Danny Boy", "Tears in Heaven", "Georgia on My Mind", "At Last" (in the same key as Etta James), and more. He has solo videos including songs he wrote for Amberly in addition to the Stargazer Trilogy. "Hers Ain't Mine" and "Do Both" are both funny and sweet.
Hers Ain't Mine should be viewed on tiktok or on youtube shorts. The 2:47 long youtube "video" is simply a still picture. The visuals on the many shorter videos are hilarious. My favorites are the one where Amberly is holding the mic in Austin beard makeup and the one where she's pressure washing their deck.
Not a version that I like much. Tim was at the time having a craze for doo-wop and this lovely flowing song was forced into a robotic and heavy rhythm. Not sure why it was recorded, less than a year after Austin had such success with this version.
This almost didn't get released. Austin recorded it along with other songs for his patrons. His gf thought it should go on his public channel but he wasn't sure it was good enough (!!) She went ahead and put it up and this week it reached 15 million views. It seems strange that Austin never thought people would want to hear him sing solo but during lockdown he and Steven had the time to record for fun. He had also just started his relationship with his now wife, which gave him the security and confidence to release more. He was surprised at first that so many wanted to hear him but now has a large back catalogue, all worth exploring. This last year he got to walk down the red carpet at the CMAs in his own right, as well as with his bandmates. I see below that people have recommended Bring Him Home, but I'd also check out If I Met You Now and Rest of my Life, two early originals and truly lovely songs. Thank you for your reactions!
On Austin’s channel, check out his version of Etta James’s classic, “At Last”! He sings it in the same key as she did! Why? Because he can! It’s really special & you’ll love it!
Again, this is not one over the other. Its another beautiful treatment of a awesome song. Bobby Hatfield prolly still is the definitive singer but Austin did this real proud!
Step into the way back machine and listen to Bobby Hatfield's version (one of the Righteous Brothers duo). You won't be disappointed. @@redheadedneighbor
Austin sings with such emotion that I can't take my eyes off of him, his solo stuff is sooooo good, you need to check out more of them. Also Chance has some solo stuff to that you should check out
Austin has so many beautiful songs out. Tears in Heaven and Ain't No Sunshine were filmed outside his home with his fishing pond in the background, both accompanied by a close friend of his. Please don't skip the after song messages, ESPECIALLY Ain't No Sunshine's. Another great video, one you may want to save for Valentine's Day maybe, is Take the Night Off. This one is forever one of my top 3 Austin songs. His (now) wife is so lovely here.
Before someone points out that this was almost certainly pre-recorded and sung over here so it doesn't mean he can do that sitting down, there are many examples of him doing exactly this - sitting and singing this song at performances with Foust& Friends or Sweet & Low. And every time I watch one of them I am gob smacked again.
Their group version is also fantastic! The video quality and setting are totally timeless. I think you may be smitten with Austin! Wait til Chance takes your breath away with Cover me Up. Big hugs girl! Thank you for sharing your journey with us!
The Righteous Brothers had a big hit in 1965 of this classic song & it is one of my favorites. Sadly we lost Bobby Hatfield almost 20 years ago. He had a beautiful one of a kind voice. But Austin Brown did a very beautiful tribute of this song. Please also check out Home Free's version of this song. They just did it recently & it is a very beautiful cover.
What is there to say about this except how great was that? Steven and Seby really allowed Austin to spread his solo wings. He sings with his whole heart - watching him do sad songs is HARD, the hurt shows in every part of his body. If you intend to watch Tears in Heaven, Neon Moon, I'm Not Supposed to Love you Anymore, or his original If I Met You Now - or early live concert footage of HF doing another of his originals Love me Like That - be ready to really feel the words. People were worried about him after watching his video of I'm Not Supposed to Love you Anymore.
Something else to consider in this magnificent performance: he is sitting down. I sang in choruses and choirs for many years, and there's a reason choirs stand to sing. It is much easier to breathe from the diaphragm when standing. Your rib cage can expand so much better. For Austin to hit those notes up there in the rafters, he needs good lung capacity. The fact that he can do it sitting casually on that stool shows his immense ability.
"Unchained Melody" is one of the greatest songs of all time, and Austin's voice is well-suited for it. Righteous "brother" Bobby Hatfield set the bar VERY high for all the 300+ covers since 1965.
There's a fancam video of Austin singing this at "Tim's 6th Birthday Bash" - that's just jaw-dropping. Later in the video of this, it's noted that Sebastien Douyon's keyboard went in the wrong key when it was moved. Tim then says something like 'yeah, who wouldn't wanna sing that in even a higher key'. Love your channel - stay warm & well!
You are so right! Music is life. Home Free got me through corona & hospitalization. Their music individually and as a group always make an impact on me. I agree that Austin's version of Bring Him Home is amazing. His degree is in Musical Theater. It was the song that Home Free heard him sing on the cruise ship where both were performing. They were interested immediately. Austin was blown away when he saw them perform. He said Rob's voice really made him want to sing with them. Within a few months, their high tenor Matt left to take over the family business. Austin was asked and immediately said yes. The magic that is Home Free came together. Thanks for your reaction!!
I don't know what it is about some of those notes and how he hits them, but it just makes me curl my toes and shiver if you know what I mean. Wow!!! He just has this way of making you feel everything he sings. It is an incredible talent and gift from God. He was definitely blessed, and so are we to be allowed to listen to him.
Hey neighbor with the red hair excellent reaction pure goosebumps on this song words cannot describe how good this is it’s a feeling. Later beautiful.❤️😎🇺🇸
Austin's performance of Neon Moon (Brooks & Dunn) is my favorite, both for his singing and the emotion he conveys. He's accompanied by Chris Chatham on guitar and Sebastian Douyon on keys, the same two who played with Austin & Tim on their My Maria, also by Brooks & Dunn, which you've dunn.
Unchained Melody was originally written for a 1950's prison movie "Unchained." It was about a guy in prison debating on trying to escape but having to spend the rest of his life on the run or staying and serving out his time and being able to go home to his wife and family. Which makes the question, "Will you still be there" so powerful. Home Free does a cover as well and they keep to the the original concept filming in black and white and the guys sitting in prison. Both Austin's solo and Home Free together give outstanding performances. I am partial to Home Free's version because of the arrangements great harmonies they are able to bring to this song. It is worth checking out as well.
Just love watching you're reaction to #HOME FREE. Now watching you react to their individual work that each one does. They are soooo talented!!! Love seeing how this music takes your breath away. Can't wait to see more of you doing this.
