- Everyone who grew up in Central NJ in the 1960's and 1970's has a story about being dragged through this store by their mom or grandmom. Back when everyone was having six kids and sewing little dresses for each of them, Fabricland was the place to shop. As the largest Fabric Store in NJ, they set the trends for home sewing and would regularly stage fashion shows for hundreds (yes, hundreds) of Home Economics teachers. Fabricland featured dress fabrics, quilt fabrics, drapery fabrics and upholstery fabrics. Even though the emphasis was on fabrics, the custom department still offered custom draperies, window shades, window blinds, reupholstery and wallpaper. In stock products included curtains, draperies, drapery hardware, bedspreads, tablecloths, pillows, bedding and more. Fabricland was Bed, Bath and Beyond before BB&B existed (or went bankrupt), It is upon this legacy, that Metropolitan Window Fashions was built.
