Well worth the wait! Thank you for this lovely instructional video.- February is here and I hope to be patient enough not to sow my seeds too quickly as I am very keen on having these in my garden!
12 inches between, when I scatter them outside, that’s what I have to do! I saw little seedlings, I thought it was a weed! I have been covering my seeds, so that’s why they’re not doing well. Very nice. I will try to scatter seeds once they are dry the next fall or spring .
Thanks so much for all the information; and beautifully modulated diction! Is it correct to understand from your video that Aquilegia from seeds do not flower in the first year? And that the root stock needs to be kept in the ground over winter? Would you have a similar video on Ranunculi?
Very well done with the video! I love the step by step instruction and expectation-setting (flowers following year). I am going to follow this to the T this year.
Perfectly laid out instructions - thank you. I grew my columbine and it's now ready to plant in the ground. But it is late August. I wonder if I should plant them or over winter them in the house or the greenhouse? Any advice is appreciated. I am in Canada where the winters get to about 25 degrees F.
Thank you, very helpful!!! I just found a pack of seed from don't know when, so will try wet tissue paper to see if it still germinates before soil cups... expected to be a long waiting.
I have a question: when you were planting the Aquilegias in the garden I was intrigued by the small slab on top of bricks. May I ask what this is for. I thought perhaps hedgehog? Thank you for brilliant video.
Thanks so much and I love your gardening videos. I planted some of these seeds this year. The young plants grew well, no flowers yet as only the 1st year. Do you mulch over winter? All the best to you.
Jesus Christttt! Tnx a ton!!!! I had been wondering bout the name of this flower. So Its called Aquigelia.... Wow...Tnx again!!! I had got seed 2 weeks ago from the street...which I had been admiring & wondering since it started flowering this spring..and I patiently waited it's seed to be dried on the plant. But I was wondering if I can sow this fresh seed this July/Augst'23 to flower next year? Will that seed grow this year if I plant them now??? Could u plz answer? Would be great help. TIA. :)
Generally aquilegia don’t flower in first year. Like in this vid. They would flower year 2. So if u sowed in summer it may flower next spring. Not sure - let us know
Hi Aaron. It is general purpose seed compost - the brand I used is Humax but this is no longer available due to the move away from Peat based compost. Keep safe.
Best instructions on how to grow Columbine seeds that I have ever seen.
Thank you!!

I have a question with step 4 .Do I need to keep the propagators closed 24/7 while waiting for the seed to germinate?or do i need to water the seed?
Hi Emma. Keep the lid on until the seeds have germinated - it keeps heat and moisture in. Water only if top of soil looks dry. Keep safe.
Nice
Thank you.
When should the seeds be sown?
I sowed mine at the end of winter and planted outside late spring.
@@LearnHow2 thank you very much
What compost mixture do you use sir?
Hi Aaron. It is general purpose seed compost - the brand I used is Humax but this is no longer available due to the move away from Peat based compost. Keep safe.
Shame they need stratification!
I am not sure what you are saying?
@@LearnHow2 If growing from seed, it’ll need a long period of cold before it germinates.
