@@LearnHow2 Great informative video! The previous home owners at my location had planted foxglove in the front yard in front of the window. I saw a humming bird come around a week ago which caught my interest. The plantation area though had become overwhelmed with weeds and some decay and they began to shrivel up. I think a few years without care. Recently though I had a friend come over who'd worked in a nursery and we are cleaning it up and planning to plant fresh soil and foxgloves in the new spring! Can't wait.
Great video, I sowed the same mix yesterday, just researching the details,Goodman and thanks. Are you still knocking out the garden videos, hope your well
This was supper fast and easy after placing the seeds in the fridge for a week. Germination was as little as 10 days and they came fast. I'm to about 1.5 month and they're looking as great as yours.
Thank you Sir for this gentle and concise video......exactly how many of us love to learn, no frenetic stupidity or horrible music!, love from new zealand ex pat. Xx
This is invaluable, visually clarifies every step along the way and success rates; no beating around the bush or additional complication, best educational guide I've seen thus far. Its lifespan is a bit of a drawn-out process but a beautiful plant that needs a bit of help re-introducing into the countryside. Much appreciated!! P.s. have you experimented with germination rates through prior dry or moist stratification; "lazy" scattering seeds around directly onto the outside soil; different seed packet brands; same year flowering varieties; and not covering the seeds with a layer of compost as they need light for germination? Just curious to learn about the variations if there's any.
Hi Clark. Thank you for your appreciation. Unfortunately I have not been able to experiment as I have limited time and have to spread it across my many gardening activities. When I retire I would like to do more studying and experimentation. Keep safe.
I sowed some Foxglove 'Alba' Sunday, 6/8 after following your video. Already germinated and still under cover of plastic bag. Just waiting for leaves now and will continue as per your video. Once planted into second seed tray as young plants, can they be kept in a plastic greenhouse over winter, or is that too cold. You are my 'go to' channel now. Learning so much, happy to say. 💐
This is the best video i have come across all the others dont make it clear if to leave foxglove outside in the ground all winter. Thank you for confirming this.

Hi Leah. Thanks for your appreciation. I'm the same, I cant stand to throw away healthy plants ... so I try to give them to friends and family if I can.
Ahhh you make it look easy :) I just cant do the thinning out of any seedlings, I sow the seeds, they germinate well and then you have a massive bunch of seedlings that I cant do!!! Thankyou for a good video. :)
Hi Deb. Thank you for your appreciation! Why do you have a problem with thinning? Try sowing more thinly ... 'dilute' the seeds with sand before sowing.

Hi Leah. If your climate is warm enough then plant as soon as you can after January otherwise for cooler climates (as here in the UK) plant early March. If you plant early then you may get flowers in the same year (September). Otherwise for late planted seeds you will have to leave the plants in the ground over winter and they will flower early in the following year.
Please help I got up to the step where they just popped up from the soil. .I watered it and 6 hours later they turned from a green to a yellow color and half are gone (probably fall into the soil) will they grow again or do I have to plant more seeds and start over
Hi Gjulshen. Do not over water - the soil should only be moist (not wet or else the plants will drown and rot). Never place in direct sunlight until the plant is well established - the hot sunlight will cause the small plant to lose all its moisture and it dies. Big pants have lots more roots so can draw water out of the soil so they can cope with sunlight.
Hi Thaddeus. You are right. I'm going to add a note to the video to not cover the seeds as they need light to germinate - not sure why mine were so successful :)

I thought a fan would help them strengthen up, but I’m not sure if that will dry them out or hurt them. Any pointers? Should I trash them and start a new tray of them?
Hi Billy. My experience of Leggy plants is that the light has been too weak or to little light. The plant grows tall to try to reach the light and then cant support its weight. This often happens indoors in winter months when light is low so I suspect your LED light is not up to the job. I would start again trying to give them as much sunlight as you can. Keep safe.
