Hit 👍 as soon as I saw Foxgloves!!! Because our last name is Fox my Dad always made sure to plant many of them every year!!! In fact, he would collect the seeds from the dried seed pods each year (from those he didnt let just reseed for the next year). He would then keep his pockets full of them & when we were out walking - or somewhere - he didn't think was "enough color" he would then throw handfuls out. Sometimes probably in places he probably wasn't supposed too!😬🤫😉😅 I love my Dad & miss him so much! He was such a great man. Much of the reason I love gardening I inherited from him!!!😊💙💐

Oh! The morning dove at the 3:49 mark!! Laura, I had what I thought was a massive amount of weeds in my iris garden last year... I left them out of shear neglect, and all of them were blooming foxgloves this year, a gorgeous creamy white! Thank squirrels! I didn’t plant them 🥰👍🏼
I'm so glad you did a video on Foxglove. I have admire these in my neighbors yard for about the past 5 yrs. Last year she asked if I wanted some small baby plants before the frost got them. I brought them inside and planted them in a nice size pot and kept them over winter and planted them outside come Spring. They are doing so good, can't wait to see what color I got from her, she has two different colors. Also went to the nursery and bought a beautiful purple color. I raise honeybees and have been told they are Great for pollinators.
3:48 a Pidgeon just flew in and landed on the pineapple! (Grin) AND just before you warned about toxicity of the plants, Russell wandered behind you. LOL You explanation was spot on. I grew foxglove for many years. They have all gone now, but I have fond memories of the bees and hummingbirds flocking to them. Thanks for sharing and giving me a laugh. Stay safe.
I love your videos when you talk about a certain flowering plant or vegetable on their care. I have had a few hydrangea plants that have not bloomed or only had a couple flowers on them. After watching how to prune them and fertilizing them now my plants are loaded with flowers. I also did not know to cut back some of my perennials to get a second bloom. Keep coming with those videos.
I started foxgloves this year from seed as well and had around 50 plants that I transplanted into the garden! Just amazing! You are right, you are more connected when you start from seed and there is such joy you get from the plants. Sometimes I’ll grow a snap dragon color I do not like, but I still marvel at the fact that I grew it. Keep going! Enjoying watching your adventure!
I can't tell you how informative and joyful your channel has been for me these last few months since I found it. I teach, I wife, I mother, I write, and I garden, and sometimes I feel that I couldn't do any of those important things well without the gardening. You have inspired many new projects in my backyard landscaping that bring me so much daily happiness. Thank you!!
Your ‘Dalmatian Peach’ foxgloves are some beautiful. For whatever reason I didn’t have good luck with them this year but I’ll go back to them again because they’ve always done so well for me. Good to point out the toxicity because a lot of people are concerned about that but honestly there are far more plants we grow in the garden that are toxic to humans or animals than there are non-toxic plants.
Hi Laura! I just really want you to know how inspiring you are to me. I am currently going through IVF after my husband went through chemo and you have brought such INSPIRATION and JOY to my life. With all that is going on it has been very stressful. I never knew that I enjoyed gardening. It all started with watching your lemon tree video and enjoying it so much I watched so many more from there. Now I know how to take care of all of my perennials that were already at our house and have SO many plans for our yard in the future. Would LOVE to add these to our garden. Would these work in containers? We have a dog that chases squirrels and I would be afraid shed plow these over!
And you are right! About it’s a great feeling to start from seeds! I grew Hollyhocks from & germinated! And when I seen my first flower! I just looked up and said Thank you! 💙🙏
It IS such a great feeling to grow from seed. I agree...proud...so connected to the plant! I think foxglove is on the menu for next year! Thanks, Laura!
I started Celosia from seed this year too and they are very sad looking. I really like the idea of an entire vlog centered around the care and growing tips of a specific plant. I would love to see more of these type of videos Laura!

Beautiful foxglove! ❤️❤️. I have enjoyed every one of your videos! During these difficult times, I find myself watching them over and over. I had Christmas in July with you just this past weekend. Watched all having anything Christmas in them. ❤️🎅🏼🎄. Lol, not that I want to push the season along at all, your videos just bring me a feeling of peace.

Your Foxgloves are gorgeous. Now, my Dalmation Peach did not bloom the first year but that is my garden, They bloomed this year. To try to ensure I get blooms next year I will steal seeds from the bottom of the spike (from the first blossoms), start them indoors then move them out before frost, I will also shake the stalks after blooming to ensure dispersal. Thank you for your videos, I look forward to them every day. You are a part of my morning routine.
So beautiful! Can you show how you harvest the seed later on? Do you avoid raking and remulching the areas with foxgloves so that the seeds can germinate the following year or do they just wind up making their way back to the top? I know you said they require light to germinate. Also thanks so much for the seed starting video you did about these. I used the premoistened soil tip and my seedlings came up days earlier. Could always be luck but the more appropriate moisture levels are getting the credit. 😉
When my kids were little and playing in the garden, they came to me to tell me the fuzzy peas were no good. I hadn’t planted peas. I asked them to show me. They were lupine seeds. I couldn't decide between hollyhock and foxglove this year and ended up going with hollyhock. Definitely finding a spot for some foxglove next year! Gorgeous!
Peaches and Dreams Double Hollyhock are gorgeous! Look for them at Park Seed. They're easy to start, if you plant in the coldest part of your winter. They need cold stratification. East of Denver, Colorado I start them in Jan, Feb or early March.
@@seanaames6855 hi! Thank you for the info! Park seed is actually kinda local to me! It's only an hour away so now this will give me good motivation to go over there! Cheers!
I’m growing Jet Black and Blacknight Hollyhock and the Blacknight blooms this year we’re stunning! I’m excited for it to reseed itself and form a nice little drift. I have seeds to grow MarshMallow next year as well...related to hollyhocks and hibiscus (I also have Bali hibiscus growing)...just need to find a nice wet spot for them(:
Those are absolutely stunning Laura!! I always wondered about these beauties. Thanks for sharing such great info. Your so right, everyone's growing experience is going to be different, even though it's the same plant. Growing it yourself and paying close attention to how it grows, really helps you to get the hang of things quickly. Have an amazing day Laura! Thanks for all you do! 💕
This year my foxgloves performed well in upwards to 100 degrees in zone 9. They do love water. They are beautiful!! People always walk through my neighborhood to view my garden and the foxgloves steal the show! 🤩
Laura, I planted foxglove for the first time too! I feel so excited also! I’m not sure which variety right now, but they are a light, bluish-purple. It’s awesome to know that we connect on the excitement level of “I grew that!” I can’t wait to have them re-seed and to have more. Thanks for this informational video. It really helped!
Hi Laura!! Those are really pretty flowers! You did a great job growing them from seed Congrats! I wish I had the room, and garden area, to do something like that. Than you for sharing!
I use to be obsessed with makeup videos on RUclips.....now I am obsessed with the plants because of you. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. 🌸🌸🌸🌺🌺🌺
I saw this video last summer and decided that THAT was a most have flower! I’ve never really thought foxglove was something special, never grew them or bought them. So this spring I got hold of 15 seeds (really expensive) and gosh what I’ve enjoyed them! 😍 I’ve harvested seeds like crazy because I move 1 October and have the opportunity to have a nice big garden that’s a clean slate, I can decide and make all flowerbeds just as I like them. And your flower beds around the chicken coop is my inspiration! So many good ideas I’ve got from them that I’ll replicate and add things I like. So thank you for sharing all your expertise and positive energy. I think all of us followers get out right after seeing your videos and planning in our own garden!
Foxglove is one of my favs. Thank you for all the info on there needs and for the links. QUESTION; COULD YOU GUYS DO A DRONE WALK THROUGH OF YOU GARDENS/?
Great information! Thank you so much. I was inspired by a lot of your plants and wanting to try out now. And yes, growing from seed has a particularly good feeling
My father planted 2 foxglove plants in the front of his house a few years ago and they have taken over😳 There are dozens of plants all over his front yard & driveway. Somehow they are even in his backyard now. It's insane.
Laura do foxgloves grow ok in humid areas? I'm in zone8a. I know it is dry there where you live. Thanks for all the gorgeous flower ideas. It's so exciting to see your yard change into your dream, very inspiring!
Hi. When will you be collecting the seeds from these foxgloves? How do you collect them, know when they are ready to collect and then store them before planting in Feb? Thanks! 🌱💕
I LOVE how you answer the toxic question. You have such grace when i kinda feel deep down what you may want to say lol or at least i would want to say but probably never do. All kids are different when it comes to this kind of stuff though. I had my 1st two 15 months apart and those two got into NOTHING. They were easy. Then 8 yrs later I thought oh i want to have 1 more and ohhhhhh boyyyyyy that girl still hasn't stopped getting into trouble 16 yrs later. I love how you explained educating Benjaman. These day kids are too protected in some ways and left alone in other ways and it really is creating a huge mess. I heard a joke on Dry Bar Comedy about kids and how they are treated like glass. He almost got a ticket cause he didn't have a shade on his back window for his grandchild. He was floored. He said we didn't have sunscreen when i was a kid...u know what we used....DIRT. We played in dirt and had it all over our faces from eating it. no room for sunburn lol. Sorry i rambled as usual. Lonely person I am. I love those foxgloves but ever since i saw the veronica (i think) i was mesmerized. It is like they are glowing. Perfect for a moon garde i think. And of course i caught that tail go by. He truly photo bombs every video i love it.
Just beautiful, I'm glad you answered my question about the animals. My fur babies are all although my area they dont destroy anything but rub against my flower, and smelling them lol. But those are just so beautiful.
Don't grow from seeds but want to make a comment on staking. I have tall delphiniums '72 inch' and stake them with green colored bamboo stakes. You can get packs of them at your local garden center. They don't show so your plants are upright and beautiful.
those are soooo pretty!!! i planted some this year, so i hope they stay with me and come back with a beautiful show next year... even without the blooms, the leaves are so thick and pretty and filling up my little cottage garden area... every time i walk by them i'm singing "anticipation" ... thanks for the video!!
I have the foxglove and plant them with hollyhocks. Same structure but different foliage. Look great in a cottage or English garden. Thanks for the refresher course! Love these plants.
I'm very much a novice at seeding but you make me think I can do it! I immediately went to the floret website and everything is sold out. How many of you went to the website?
I start 80% percent of plants from seeds (10% from bare roots, 5% from cuttings and 5% potted plants) and you are right it gives you real sense of proud and a deep connection with your garden. In my opinion it is also an economical way of filling up and brighten your garden. I mean when I have time why should not I. May be some one who is real busy with their life and profession would just get away buying plants. But plant people find real value and pride in starting from seeds. I have started some foxglove and other perennial plants from seeds this year which will bloom for me next year. And your videos have really helped me. Great job!
I'm so intimate when I look at them that I can't grow them from seeds but listening to your encouragement I'm gonna give it a try. Like you said I'll fail miserably or succeed. Nothing to loose.
I have grown fox gloves for years❤️❤️❤️you will be shocked at how many seeds are in just one of the seed pods THOUSANDS!!!!’ I don’t understand how flower companies can justify selling one packet of seeds for 3 to 4 dollars a pack😡😡😡😡😡 l guess l am a millionaire and just don’t know it lol😂😂😂😂😂

I love a cottage style garden. Beautiful!
Growing a plant or flower from seed.. kinda like the miracle of growing a baby. Such an amazing accomplishment with both 😌
Loved your foxglove video. I am trying to grow from seeds for the first time. I am quite excited about it.
So very beautiful! Laura!
Thank you! I had all these questions and now I've ordered foxglove seed (Dalmatian cream) for next season! 😁
I agree, you win some you lose some, and you are always learning, and growing from seed, amazing feeling.
Foxglove is one of my favs. Thank you for all the info on there needs and for the links. QUESTION; COULD YOU GUYS DO A DRONE WALK THROUGH OF YOU GARDENS/?
OH THAT WOULD BE SO COOL!!!!
Great information! Thank you so much. I was inspired by a lot of your plants and wanting to try out now. And yes, growing from seed has a particularly good feeling
One of my very favourite flowers. They grow so well here in Melbourne Australia. Thank you so much for this video.
My father planted 2 foxglove plants in the front of his house a few years ago and they have taken over😳 There are dozens of plants all over his front yard & driveway. Somehow they are even in his backyard now. It's insane.
I would love if that happened in my yard😳
😳 Backyard?!?
Yep! They'll do that!😅
Samantha K. Lucky guy! I live in zone 8a and it's super humid. Do foxgloves do well in humid areas? What zone is your dad in?
He truly photo bombs every video i love it.
so cute! I really enjoyed listening to you,
Love the color! The purple petunias are looking great.
They are so pretty and you have inspired me enough to try and grow some foxgloves from seeds this winter.
This was super helpful. I'm growing foxglove for the first time this year and you had all the answers I was looking for!
Beautiful! love my foxglove! I started with one Camelot in the spring of 2018 and now I have flower bed full of them! I’m in zone4-5 .
Never a failure, always a learning experience!
Amazing plants! You're so proud of these, Laura, and I proud of you! Awesome, great job!!!
Gorgeous. I’m always pulling the wild ones. These shorter ones are definitely on my list next year. Thankyou.
those are soooo pretty!!! i planted some this year, so i hope they stay with me and come back with a beautiful show next year... even without the blooms, the leaves are so thick and pretty and filling up my little cottage garden area... every time i walk by them i'm singing "anticipation" ... thanks for the video!!
They will restock a bit later in the year. They have to wait to harvest seeds, too! :)
Every nursery and seed house is sold out. It was a great year for them because of covid.
I just checked the website and they’re all in stock. Happy Gardening ya’ll!
🤣
It can't be as much of a pain in the ass as lupin seeds. Such a thorn for me this year
Nice looking foxgloves I will definitely plant 🌱 sum next year......thanks for the info 💚💚
They will look beautiful in any garden
It’s insane the amount of seeds just in one head, and they are like sand grains. I walk around the edges of my yard shaking them out every where!
