Ahhh I was a kid and remember travelling back then. Especially on the MEA 747.
What a great snapshot back in time! Lots of memories and well edited. Thank you!
I was going to say I remember it well but it might give away how old I am :-) Back then, you could even go onto the roof of the Queen's Building, grab a bite to eat and watch aircraft in comfort. Vanguards, VC 10, Tridents. Now look at Heathrow. Unless you have business there, best avoided.
Amazing what a difference it was back then, the planes were amazing to so much more variety to what there is now
It always looks much more exciting back then! Great bit of footage thanks.
The 80s turned everything into a commodity - I can barely remember the 70s but there was a sense of wonder that's often missing now. There was also an economy pretty much collapsing permanently too, mind you.
A real treasure trove! Please upload more of your Heathrow footage.
WOW those 747s!
This was really good! I would’ve thought that this was done in the mid 60s because of the cargo prop planes but the 747s changed that. This is of great quality for being shot in the mid 70s. Most films from that era are not that good but this is.
It’s probably end of the 60s.beginning of the 70s as Lufthansa’s 737s didn’t enter service until ‘68, and there is definitely one taxing in the video :-)
I remember BAA Heathrow Club. Played a few small scale gigs there.
Things were a lot quieter back then
Not quite
Amazing quality filming
Absolutely wonderful I started off working for British Airways in the amazing to see them as I remember
Fantastic really enjoyed this and great quality any of Gatwick ?
Wow TMA B707 and MEA B747
what a golden era!
When we English ruled the world
I actually remember watching that on TV, looks so old fashioned now but somehow very comforting. Love the employment office. I believe LHR have 12,000 job vacancies at the moment. The BOAC 747 looked awesome and to think a few months later Concorde would be in service and not long after that you could fly to JFK in 3 hours, progress eh !
Olympic 707 unforgettable
toy2day1 just a thought, I know Olympic ran Boeing 720’s too. They looked similar to the 707, and am wondering if it might be a 720 if so, that’s a bit rarer
Regards.
@@philsteer1414 the one pictured is not a 720 ...it is one of their 707-300 series’s
They offered very high standards of service on the London - Athens route in the late 70's. Flew the route with them twice, once in Y and once in F. 707 or 720 not sure which. Very nice meals and printed menus in Y. Broadsheet size menus and a full long haul style service from the trolleys in F (Intra-European flights were FY in those days, that was before C class was invented).
Its weird seeing the 70s in almost 00s quality
Classy
Powerful Lebanese theme -- TMA 707 followed by MEA 747!
Excavation for the Piccadilly Line Extension dominated the central diamond in the mid -70s
The prefabs are largely still there and used in 2919; refurbished and smartened up
Wow! They lasted 1000 years?!
The days of the silent films - but I thought we had sound in 1975!
Trollies haven't changed
Better times
a better time
Japan Air 123??
That’s when the English were English! Not like now.
When being English ment something
A lot nicer before the poor invaded air travel.
Frank...
You horrid person, It's the poor that keep the rich wealthy...
How snobbish of you
A lot nicer before the pondlife invaded RUclips
Frank Garret,
Are you for real ??????
Surely you are being Sarcastic.
You can't be that snobbish not in this day and age, surely not.
But then again, I bet you are a Tories voter and so no wonder this country has gone down hill because of people like you. Good ole Tories sleaze after sleaze, they are full of it.
Please don't advertise uploads without any sound.
It's pointless and unfair.
Are you serious?
I don’t understand. Why is it pointless and unfair?
